View Full Version : Where to place esc on tb-01?!? HELP!
i have a TB-01 rally with the protective polycarbonate shell on top of the chassis. so, i was thinking of putting the esc on the receiver infront of the motor but the esc manual says it must be atleast 3cm away from the receiver and powercables! the only place i can think of is the thing that is ontop of the propeller shaft, and if i put there the heatsink will hit the shell :( and i cant make too large holes in tthe shell as im running in wet/snow untill spring. how about making a hole large as the heatsink and the making a cover of metal"grille". i want to run the frickinīcar someday!

I would put it next to the motor.
i would have to put it ontop of the receiver then, the esc is not that small and the receiver is some hitec 40mhz Am crap. the thing is huge! is it ok to put on top of the receiver then? i apologise for my stupidity but iīve never had an esc before... only msc and nitro wich is cool but cant run nitro where i am at the moment so i got the tb-01 :)

Take a look at this picture:

You might be able to stand the receiver up on it's side, and have the ESC right in back, between the reciever and motor. OR, you can lay the receiver flat on top of the steering servo.

There's no need to apologize...we're here to help.:)

gees, why didnt i think of that :D the receiver ontop of the servo sounds pretty good to me :) oh, are all motors about the same lenght? can i fit a 17x2 in there? and any idea how long runtimes i will get wit stock gearing, 17x2 motor and 1600mAh packs? the stock gearing should be fine right? the 61t spur and stock pinion. thanks.

As long as the receiver is not too close to the ESC you're fine. For example, in my TA04, the motor is on the same side of the car as the steering servo...so my ESC (the tiny little LRP Quantum REv) sits on top of the servo...the receiver is on the left side of the chassis by itself.

All modifieds are the same size. I think the stock Mubachi motors that come with the Tamiya kits are a bit longer. The 17 turn you have is a standard size, so it should fit with no problem.

Can't really help you with this one...sorry.
