I'm new to RC and on my first attempt to paint a body using two different colors ran into some problems. First, is I used standard masking tape to make a straight lines, but the when I finished painting the colors bleeding together alone the lines. I brought a second body and plan to have a two color scheme with it. What is a good product and way to keep the line straight and keep the colors from bleeding together?

I heard masking tape has problems with the paint bleeding. I think the concensus is to use electric tape because it adheres to the lexan better.

Masking tape shouldn't bleed if used properly. First of all, once you are finished masking, use a credit card or something like that and go along all the edges of the tape to make sure they are sealed. Then, spray your first coat very very lightly. This coat will help to seal the edges of the tape as well. Then spray the rest of your coats in normal light coats. The most common reasons masking tape leaks are 1) using too heavy of a coat of paint 2) not sealing the edges 3) not washing the body before painting/masking.

Make sure you are using a good masking tape as well. I've ran into some that are too porous and bleed right through the tape. My personal favorite is 3M Automotive Mask. It sticks very well and will not leave a residue unless you leave it on the body for a couple weeks. Now once you have a good tape then rub down the edges with your fingernail or something. If you watch from the outside as you do that you'll see the air bubbles get worked out. Make sure the seal along the edges doesn't have any bubbles.
