My LHS sold me a P2k and two of the solder points came pre-tinned. The thing didn't have any balls and my radio was glithcing real bad. Do the P2k's motors come pre-tinned? I'm wondering if someone used it and returned the thing? Steve

Uh, no, no they don't come pre-tinned. And from what you told me, it sounds like the comm is on it's last legs, or the brushes are worn to uselessness. Sounds like someone bought a new motor, then put an old motor in the new packaging and returned the old motor.

It's hard to say. It's also possible(if the motor's brushes are soldered in) that the tinning you see is where the brushes are connected to the motor tabs(Trinity's "Pro" version motors come that way, they solder the brush leads to the tabs). Also, there might be someone locally(like myself) who will test a number of motors for the shop when they arrive, & in cases like mine, they solder the dyno test leads to the motor, so when they're done & put it back in the package those tabs wil be tinned....:)

Hi,
Just strip the motor down, measure the comm and try to figure out if its been cut or not. Then just check everything else on the motor like brushes sticking and such. All the P2K's come with Capacitors pre-installed so you know thats not the problem.
Also, try another motor with your ESC, as that might be the problem. If its a Novak ESC, don't forget to use the capacitor which comes with the ESC and install a diode too on the other motor terminals.
