Unfortunately no. The motor is too big for the upcoming "A" class in IMPBA which will be a maximum of .129 cu.in. The next class up would be the "B" class and those boats run faster than what the Miss Bud is capable of. Another possibility would be that if there was enough interest would be for a race to hold a class for these boats, such as a Novice class. Pro Boat, Kyosho, CEN and others are making boats that don't fit in any class because of the .15, .16 and .18 sized motors. A class like this would be great for upcoming boaters a place to get their feet wet in the racing world. A Miss Bud class would be interesting but imagine trying to keep track of your boat while 5 or 6 others are on the water at once!

uhhh.....Ron, does this mean that there is no class to run a .18 engine in?

You could run in the "B" class in IMPBA or "A" class in NAMBA but most boats would get blown out of the water with less than a hot .21 motor. I would like to see some races do a "A-B" class for the odd-sized motors. Too many of todays .21's are hitting over 50 MPH in the mono classes and 70+ MPH in the 'rigger class.

oh. yowch. i guess i'll either be gettin' whipped by some .21s or i'll just race elecs at my club w/ it and leave representing Rebel Racing to my teammate and his N1 riggers. Then again, if i can get the cat running it's best with every possible boost i can give it, i might be able to compete enough to have fun.........or maybe not. b.t.w., is there no A offshore in NAMBA and B offshore in IMPBA? hhmmm.....maybe when i talk to the IMPBA guy [im pretty sure i'll do impba cuz the closest NAMBA is a state away, i think.] i'll see if maybe there's some other guys out there w/ odd-sized engines like .16 and .18, and we can get a class going.

The thing to do is to approach a club that putting on a race and see if they would include a class for the over .12, under .21 boats for a Novice class of racing. They might do it if they had enough interest. It would be a great way to get beginners involved.

yea, thats what i thought would probably be the best..........as soon as IMPBA gets back online [its under costruction] i'll get an email address for my districts's coordinator, and ask him about it and see if there are any clubs around.......
b.t.w., have u been to roostertailz.com?? it looks like it's gonna be a great site, and the owner emailed me back immediately about getting a collet for my boat.....he also said he's got some extras/upgrades that i should hear about, and gave me a #.

there's a reply in your box as of now.
Ron,Do you think the miss bud could handle a .21 engine?

I would be interesting to try but I doubt it. One, the .21's would be a squeeze to fit in, two, the gas tank would have to be around 8 ounces and there isn't that much room up front and, three, the driveline would have to be modified to handle the power of a hot .21 and the larger props that you would need. Lotza "woulds" huh? Oh yeah, a #4, the hull is about 4" shorter than what you need. Rumor has it that Pro Boat is coming out with a larger version of the Miss Bud. I've heard a Sport 40 size, a Zenoah gas one among others. Wait and see I guess.
One thing that might work is a hot .12 or .15 car motor keeping the heat sink on and opening up the air intake for better air flow. This is an easy conversion.

Yeah, I started thinking about that after I posted that message. There are a lot of other boats in that price range that will go 10-15 MPH faster RTR. I'll bet you that the Hobby Shops won't be able to keep them in stock once they hit the shelves just because it's a Miss Bud. I hope that they have the driveline problems cured before they hit the market if they're anything like the Shockwave. If anyone would plan on racing one, they'll need a lot more than the "Up to 35 MPH" to win a heat.

they'll probably need more than "up to 55" to sell it for that price...havent had any word from roostertailz.
I see its listed on Horizon hobbys web site for $1,099.I might have to get one.

or you could get a REALLY nice .21 rigger hull outfitted w/ a novarossi or MAC .21, and all the works, and go as fast or faster for less......... it just seems to me like big gas boats are a waste of $$, they cost almost as much as a decent real boat [like a little boston whaler] and they dont go much faster that a high-quality .21, and slower than something running a k-90 or mac 89 [or whatever their biggest is].
