I have ahad a maximum mt pro for about a year now and i haven't upgraded it much at all. I only got new tires wheels and a body but thats it cuz i got the pro version. One of the best hop ups to get would be a two speed. But i don't realy know what your looking for as in "better". It could mean faster, stronger, used for racing, etc. Just let me know what u mean in better and i can tell you sone posible hop ups

the duratrax 2-speed is a P.O.S I took mine out and put in a single speed so it would run with out pissing me off when it chews up gears and doesn't shift. stick with a single speed and get a better motor like the traxxas 2.5. Down the road you will have wished you got a nitro stampede. I'm sorry to say but I'll never buy another duratrax truck because of the maximum series.

The Duratrax vehicles seem perfectly acceptable to me. They might not be the most outstanding trucks in their class, but for their very low price, they seem pretty good.
If you have the basic truck, all you really need are full bearings and a tuned pipe for the engine.
For tires, any 2.2" truck tires will fit, so where do you want to run? If you aren't racing, I'd go with some Pro-Line Masher 2000s or Dirt Hawgs. The Mashers are a little taller.
For a body, pretty much any truck body will fit. Parma makes a bunch of scale-looking truck bodies, Bolink has a good selection, and so does Pro-Line.

will t/e-maxx tries and rims fit?

They could be bolted on with adapters, but that's a LOT more stress on the suspension and drivetrain.
I'd stick with 2.2" wheels and tires like the Pro-Line Mashers. They are almost as tall as Maxx tires, but are a light lighter and bolt right on to the suspension.
