If you own a nitro [glow] boat that is sized .15, .16.,.17,.18 or any other odd size that is between .12 and .21, you probably know that there is no racing class in either NAMBA or IMPBA for this sized engine. the Horizon Miss Bud, Traxxas Nitro Vee, and Hobbico Nitro Hammer, along with all CEN boats is in this catagory. if you own one of these boats, and would like to race it, please email or call your IMPBA and/or NAMBA district coordinator, and ask them to please try to set up an open amatuer class that would include all boats that are between class A and Class B. I know that some districts are probably already considering doing this with the release of the Horizon Miss Bud and Traxxas Nitro Vee, and if they get feedback from boaters asking for a class like this, it would encourage them to follow through. Also, if you live in or around Richmond, VA and are interested in racing one of these boats or any other nitro or electric boat, please email me at mmlennarz@earthlink.net

thanks for reading,
joe

Joe, good news coming but don't hold your breath. I talked to Bill Zuber, candidate for President of the IMPBA, in a chat room on Tuesday night. Bill and Jon Equi are working on an "ABS" class for these boats. Also in the works are lower membership dues for the under 16 racers. Things in the IMPBA sometimes take a year or 2 to get implemented unforunately. I went to a race this past year that held a Novice class that went over real well, more people were watching the kids race than the other classes with the crowd cheering the kids on. The sanctioning bodies and clubs are really "missing the boat" by not staging races for these.
