Just wanted to see what we all sport.. size hull? Type of hull? type engine? Top Speed?
I have a 55'' Deep V, 25cc Big Bore Zenoah, ??? No idea on the speed. My boat is actually a shockwave and it came with a stock 23cc Zenoah which did 35mph, im hoping for about 50mph. Im waiting for a piston ring that was shipped broken.
Does any one know if im dreaming on getting 50mph out of this boat, or does it look possible???

It'll take a bunch of work, not to mention money to get it in the 50 MPH range. A larger carb, tuned pipe and changing the drive train to a surface drive and offset rudder will help you get in the ballpark.

Well... I have already done that.... most of it at least.
Here is the list of stuff I already have:
-J&G 25.6cc Conversion kit for Zenoah G-23: Cylinder, Button Head, Sleeve, Water Jacket, Piston,...
-Big Bore Carburetor, Walbro, 32, Performance Metering, Internal Pulse
-Tuned Pipe & water cooled manifold
-MS Centrifugal clutch
-Water Pump
The motor should be turning about 14,000 rpm's, maybe more. They claim about 5.5 horses...
Got a balancer for my .270 Prather prop
Also had a custom closed hatch made to reduce the drag from the open stock compartment.
As for the rudder and drive train... will this do the trick: Look at the very bottm pictures...

Whats the difference with the surface drive train?
Appreciate you help.

It puts the prop halfway out of the water, letting the motor wind higher thus increasing speed, not to mention a cool roostertail.

I think that your pipe is going into the wrong end of the header.

In case your interested.... Im an RC car freak... im a rookie at boats... this is my first boat....
This is my RC10-GT fully modified with a Thunder Tiger .21 motor pushing 2.1hp, 125cc nitro tank, New Era double deck chassi...
http://www.neweramodels.com/prod28_factoryteam.htm
Fits like a glove. Power is insane and handles it gracefully...
Just ordered 1/8 hubs, 1/8 wheels and tires...
Oh.... also ordered new chassi's cause my battery on my car ran out the other day and ran straight into a curb doing literally about 60mph!!! OUCH!!!

Been here, done that with R/C trucks. got out of then back around 1995. Back to boats. 2 of my boats are in the Beginners area. The Speedmaster 21 is a hot little boat easily hitting 50+MPH. The other, I have no idea how fast it is but maybe around the same speed on a good day. I also have a little .12 mono that I've been messing with as a persnal project to see what I can get one to do with odds and ends laying around the basement, a lot of old R/C trucks parts. Also a DPI 7.5 tunnel, one of the first good ones out of the mold with a modded K&B.

That engine will push a boat 50mph. But if thats a "Dumas" scarab 55" you might have some handling issues. Now put that in a Buck mono, or a challenger...WOW real fun!
Go to a surface drive. Subsurface are good for torque engines (homelites) but you have a high RPM motor. A surface drive will let the engine sing real nice.

Yeah... im kinda bumbed I bought this haul... I just jumped into it becasue its my first boat and the shockwave seemed pretty decent. But fot the amount of maoney I have spent on this I could have easily had a challenger or something. But im hoping this hull will be fun.
Ive done some research on the surface drive, but ive came to the conclusion that for my application a sub-merged drive will be better. The reason being is that I run my boat in the ocean. And it gets PRETTY choppy. Its NEVER SMOOOOTH..... Im sure I will run into traction issues on rough waters....
Do you recommend I take the dive and get the challenger hull?? Will it literally be like day and night??? Or a "slight" change??? Maybe 5mph difference???

I would get a bunch of pool noodles and stuff that hull you have and use it. See how you like it. speed won't be a problem, i was suggesting that the hull may not handle well at high speeds (turning), but give it a shot we could be surprised. If you have trouble keeping the smooth side down, then look for another hull.
But untill then have fun man!
What carb did you take off the engine?

I think your referring to the stock carb. Its a Walbro 28... I now have 32.
Ok... hes my worry.... I wont be able to run my boat with all the new stuff I bought for like a week or more. Now when I ran my boat with everything stock.... It was ...well.... I think ok... it seemed cute... kinda fast I guess.... well... not EVEN what I was expecting.
Now... will I notice a huge differnce in the boat now. Or will it be a little noticeable? Or will I say "holly batman"??
Dont know what to expect......

Hey Kevin! do you think that we ought to tell him about the gas boat site that we hang out at? Rock, all kinds of info at this place: http://pub137.ezboard.com/bjimsrcboatdock , not to mention where the gas hot dogs go so usually questions are answered in minutes with plenty of opinions.
