Just wanted to put in a good note for Hitec Products. I have a Hitec 645MG servo. Bought it about a year ago. Had the servo motor break once before and they replaced it free of charge. Sent it out agian about 2 weeks ago and got it back again completely fixed agian. Broke another motor it said. Just wanted to thank them for there great service and warranty on there servos. I would defiantlu reccomend them for anyone looking for a nice servvo for there RC. Go with a Metal Gear one and you should be good for at least 2 years. Thanks again

Happy Hitec Customer,

Timmy P.

hitec rules! i have three of their servos and love each one of them. i haven't even had a single problem with any of them. they are all metal geared servos and they take a butt load of abuse.

Send them back to Hitec! Their stuff isn't the most reliable, but they have an excellent rep for fixing stuff for free and getting it back to you in a timely fashion. If you broke that many things in 2 months, you can't drive or you're really hard on your things. I have a 2 year old 615MG in my GT that I've never had a problem with.

A company with good customer service is a good trait, but one has to wonder why you have to keep sending them back for repair! I have some old Futaba S148's - I mean like ten years old - that are still spinning like new and have taken a pretty hard hammering. The worst I can do to them is strip the gears, and can replace those myself for about five bucks.

Why do these servos break so often?

Most will send these in for broken gears as they are covered under warranty.

Where as you have replaced them your self....

Also, some have metal gears, you can only stess a device so many times before something has to give.....

I have stripped one set of S148 gears, and that was because I was stupid enough to run without a servo saver. The S148 is the bottom of the line Futaba servo. BTW I am not knocking Hitec, I am asking: why?

rocknbil: no prob....

There could be several reasons...

These are metal gear servos....

If the servo saver is to tight or there is no servo saver, a hard hit puts a strain on the motor....

I don't know the complete story...
Just offering a good guess....

One of the local guys had a problem like this....
I asked him how many parts he broke on the car between the servo repairs.....
He had over 10 sets of arms, few shock towers, etc....

I'm not saying that is what happened here....
