This is a stupid questions but what's a transponder? I see like fake and real trans. mounts, is that like a receiver?

A transponder is used for electronically recording a cars/drivers laps during a race. The track has a special loop of wire fitted either over the top or under the surface on the start finish line and when a car fitted with a transponder goes under or over it, it sends a signal to a computer which runs a special program and thus your laps are recorded.

And the fake ones are to help you tune the car with the weight of a transponder on board. As light as transponders are, tuning the car without a transponder and then mounting one, the car can run differently. To make sure the car always performs the same, many drivers simply slip in the fake transponders.
