Well.......since HPI forum is going to a better system (or should I called it - HE_LL), I think I should start a Chicago racer/racing topic here so all the Chicago Racers can chat under this topic regarding the latest information and news......

So, post away..........anything, any ideas, and any hate mail are welcome........

No matter what, DON'T get the same color and scheme.

Also, I have a painted Alfa Romeo body for Serpent for sell $25.00, if you remembered, that was the one painted by Mike at HT.

Let me know........and I will sell the OS and the body for you $100.

Tony ... That is good about the 705's. There should be a good serpent showing next year. Wont have to worry about parts that much.

BTW ... any word on the 705 conversion kit for the impulse pro?

A guy from Tinley bought this (same guys). They also bought a vector and impact from me. No doubt they had a great deal. Lots of stuff came w/the cars.

The veteq I just built it

I am hoping there will be more 1/8 scale next year (This is really my scale).

There are some u can do.

First,

get the top plate for anti roll bar for 705 / impact $7.50

U have to cut around the side so the Chassi stiffner would not hit the plate.

Then, buy the link for the antirollbar. $14

That is the best they put in the 705 is the rear anti rollbar.

Off course the Centax II and the gearbox would be great too. I just think I do not need it. I really suggest making the rear anti roll bar.

Hope this help!!

My conversion instruction to 705 was a little confusing. I decided to show u a small pic that might help.

I put the old plate in the pic so u can compare the plate I did.

I found out that Serpent Vector parts are better than impact parts. I tested this 2 days ago, and it work very well. I disconnect the linkages so u can see the plate very well.

Hope the pic will help.

I have seen the instruction over at mytsn.com ... The reason i was asking about the 705 conversion i am trying to decided wether to do the mods or just buy the kit.

Also, i think that the new upper deck layout will make electronics access eaiser. Haveing one of these cars now, i know what you guys go through when trying to swap crystals, etc.

So far, since I got back from Asia I never had frequency problem.

When I put those good crystals nobody has the same channel as us.

We are not using 40 mhs, were using 27 w/ a lower frequency. U know some 27. 945, we r u sing 27.620

I am really sure nobody has this crystals because I special order this when I was in the PHil.

I hate taking the crystals off of any of my cars. My 1/8 scale cars are easier when it comes to this problems.

My pro is easy too as long as u know what to do this would never be an issue.

Well, over 2 years of racing.

I know Serpent will be making cars every year or every other year that is the business of Rc racing.

What I have learn in two years is to be patient, understanding my car, and most of all, practice makes us a killer.

Walt , is a big example to me. His Hpi has no mods w/a top end motor. Walt can make a bad car look good. Hpi is probaly a car for beginner. I still have my Hpi, but I know my Hpi is nothing compared to my serpent.

That is what I probably do in my pro. I might do some small modification If I think will help me in a smaller track or bigger track. I know I will drive my pro for a long time. I will drive this car and practice harder. I believe in this car have a lot of potential, so i will continue to race w/this car until I reach my goal.

Hope u did not fell asleep in my novel.

Hey everybody! Oh um i mean hey rookie, kakolitoy, and acta.

:D

Anyway, updates on HobbyTown for next year. We are a member of chicagorc.com and will be one of the host tracks for the cross town championship series.

We are also trying to build interest in a spec class using . Duratrax Delphi indy cars (http://www.duratrax.com/cars/dtxd12.html). Take a look at the links at the top listing the rest of the features of the car. Only certain hop-ups and electronics will be allowed i.e. aftermarket turnbuckles, shock oil, and shock springs, a 19T spec motor (the same we will use for sedan racing next year) or the inlcuded 20T motor, any 1500 stick battery, standard servo, and sprint ESC.

The best part is the price. $119.99 for everything but a radio, receiver, and standard servo; or $179.99 for everything but batteries (and they are only $10-20 each) and a charger.

2003 should prove to be a great year!

Hey Kakolitoy, do any of you 1/8th scale drivers run a Novarossi 086 muffler with seperate manifold? I know they have one thats a "one piece" that comes with the manifold and muffler that connects directly together, but I am interested in the muffler alone that has to be coupled to the header with a silicon coupler. I've been to leisure and Al's and neither of them have it.. Pat's and Hobby warehouse I don't even count as hobby shops and know neither will have it. It's for a RS4 with a 21 and I need to see one in person to figure out if it's possible to use or not. I am afraid of spending the $50 online buying one if I don't know if it can fit or not.

kakolitoy
11-11-2002, 08:29 PM
There will be no Novarossi, Rb , or Cvec that might work in the HPI rs4 3. There is only one, I think it called THS. I can find out in my source. U cannot use any Novarossi because the nipple (The hole that goes from the pipe to the tank) cannot be reverse.

I have couple question to u.

Is ur exhaust round?

Is ur motor rear exhaust?

Let me know I think I can help u out.

kakolitoy
11-11-2002, 08:53 PM
U said u do not need the manifold right, all u need is the pipe.

Well if u do not want to spend money. Paris turbo pipe is only $30 to $35. This turbo ring pipe has no nipple. U have to drill out ur own nipple. I have been using this pipe, and its way better and stronger than my RB and novarossi pipes.

xxx mike
11-12-2002, 04:18 PM
OK.. this is not my RS4-3 that you guys see. I already have 1/10 scale pipes for the RS4-3 and everything is cool with that car.

The car I am working with now is a original RS4 racer (drag car) that has a wolfpack 21 conversion in it and a 21 engine. I have never tried a 1/10 scale pipe on a .21 engine, but I am guessing that it does not work very well. The Cvec in the car now I think is holding back performance.. thats why I am looking to upgrade with a 'real' 1/8 scale pipe like the 086.

Like all .21 engines, mine is round port, rear exhust.. right now I have a RB manifold already, so I just need a muffler. Preferably that 86 model from RB/Novarossi. I know it's a long pipe, and I don't know if it will fit. Nobody local stocks it, and I really don't know many guys with a 1/8th scale car that might have one for me to fit to my car.

kakolitoy
11-12-2002, 05:16 PM
I can probably help u if have any pic of the car. I have about 8 pipes for 1/8 and I think the shortest is the kyosho.

Pls. send me 2 pics, especially where the pipe sit.

xxx mike
11-12-2002, 08:06 PM
I think an 86 might hit the wheel if the pipe was in there straight, but if you install the pipe with the front end of it angled in towards the car, I think the wheel would probably be fine. It looks like there is a lot of room on the inside of the wheel area.... This is what I am hoping for. I would really like to get a good solid pipe on this car.. with the Cvec, it just dosn't allow the engine to R very high. I know for 1/10, switching from regular exhausts to Novarossi on my CV-R made a big difference in all around engine performance, and gave me a lot more high RPM pull. Supposedly that #86 is all performance pipe.. strong bottom and strong top end pipe, so thats what I've been looking for.

http://www.hondasportbikes.com/pic/21rs4.jpg

kakolitoy
11-13-2002, 08:39 AM
I also have the same RS4.

I know for a fact there is no 1/8 pipe that would fit for that car. Now I suggest if u want that car to fly w/a better pipe. Buy a .15 big block RB, Novarossi, Nova mega ($200 to $300) or just RS .12 S5.

XXX Mike - Schumacher makes a 1/10 TC called the Fusion that has a .21 in it. Mabey there pipe will fit your Rs4.

http://www.racing-cars.com/fusion.asp

kakolitoy
11-18-2002, 09:04 PM
I was looking at the pics of the fusion .21. That might work but the size of the pipe looks like a .12 pipe. I was thinking a 1/8 scale pipe that will fit in the Rs4. I checked all my pipes and nothing will fit in the rs4. However, u can use a .15 pipe from Rb, Novarossi, or the pipe they use in the fusion.

u can try them hope that they will fit.

xxx mike
11-18-2002, 10:16 PM
I looked at the fusion exhaust already. The fusion header goes back a little further than my header does, but the pipe does look like a 1/10 scale pipe from an associated. No biggie

Hey Mike,

What kind of pull start motor is that?

Is that a off road motor?

It looks like the car is carrying a lot of weight because of that motor.

No offense, I hope u will see My brother's Hpi. U know what I have some pics in the Chicago track in regional.

I installed a Nova mega .12 and I did some work in the crankshaft.

This car is too fast and I will not race it. There is no control in car.
It was a Hpi Rs4 RTr w/ a faster motor thats it. No metal turnbucles , just the plastic turnbucles. I will probably drag race the car and that is it.

11-20-2002, 09:53 AM
Hyper .21 from Ofna. Cheap $110 motor. All I do with this car is drag race and play around in parking lots. It has never been to a real track and never will be, I know it's no good for anything besides straight line passes.

Yes, it drives a very straight line. Fairly easy to drive and well behaved.

Sure some high output 12's are probably faster. But I have a cheap 21, and I don't have a .12 5 port. Makes the choice pretty easy

Howard small problem

I cannot tape it, my dad hooked up his hi tech appliance in his basement.

The problem is there is no vcr in his basement everything is cd,micro, vcd, dvd, digital T.V. even the surround sound are digital. Its all digital, no analouge. We do have a Vcr but its not hook on the dish. My parents always want to be legal. I told them I can hook the wires from the basement through all the bedrooms, so all of our tv have dish network.

They do not want to do it because that is illegal, he said if I really want to do that I should pay xtra $25 a month and $100 for the extra box in my room.

My DAD is too strict on everything. I am sorry, I will try everything but I cannot promise. :(

hehe.. well I got i for free.. it was totally thrashed. the Fe engine was totally worn out and had two bad bearings in the front. so I started to rehab it and had no engines at all for it. lol.. all I had was two Hyper .21's one 8 port and one 4 port and a Kyosho GS21R that came in my Landmax 2 all of them pull start. I chose the least powerfull because this RS4 is all stock except for an RRP brake and rear brace. It would not hold up to a torque happy hyper 21 for long. Its got a cheapo dynamite .15 pipe on it because of the exhaust exit on the engine and nothing else I have would fit. But even with 18/44 gearing its still a rocket compared to the thrashed FE engine that was in there and in a straight line it does a good job of beating out my old .12 CVR powered RS4 that I sold to a friend of mine a while back.

Its not holdingup to the power too well though it throws dog bones if you sit on the throttle in a turn it also likes to toss the side belt once in a while and it just yesterday striped a wheel hex so for now its out of comission. I don't really want to spend money on it so I may just pull the electronics and .21 off and part it out to my neighbor.

Howard most Serpent drivers has all new kits.

Do not tell me there is no 705 in Serpnt USA Fl.

About Japan, ur wrong.

Japan is the first country that get Serpent parts, kits, and tools from Netherlands before HK, Korea, and Austrlia. US is one othe country that will have the last shipment becuase of the big demand. Most Americans can buy RC cars compare to Asia.

Off course, If u ask Peter Biorvets he would not tell u. Can u keep that a small secret, So Chicago racers can have 705 before another state.

Just to let u know, there were 3 sold 950 kits in GA. Some racers are testing this now for the world in OHIo. They r not Serpent drivers, team, or any manufacture driver.

Fine,

I said the S3 not the S5. We were talking about Peter's S12 that is the S1. Do not tell me that the S5 is more expensive than S1. How much was the S3 Pls. and go ahead ask ur source, that would be the same price that I told before u went to HK.

Why would I say B.S. That would affect my small business. I do not have to prove anything from u. Besides U do not drive Serpent cars anyway. This for the people that wants to buy the kits.

Also, do a small Geography. Where is Holland, isn't that in Europe.

Where is Netherland, really close to Holland. I said pic in Europe.

What Continent does Holland stands?

Before U answer this, do a research pls!!!!

So much happens so quickly in this forum! Now we've got the two asian connections butting heads! UH-OH!! hehe

Those two guys from Tinley that were driving RS4's were out at monee last night.. I assume those are the guys you sold the 705's to? Last time I talked to that guy about the 705 was 2 weeks before last night at Monee. I believe he said that you had them or would have them very soon and he was getting one. Last night he still did not have a serpent, and I am pretty sure he'd be driving it (even on the dirt oval) if he did have it.

Last time I talked to Anthony from Tinley was at Leisure.. he's doing track work over there now and sees espo and all them on a regular basis. Last I heard, even espo did not yet have a 705 and he is supposedly driving under a Serpent sponosorship.

This whole post has no point. I only wrote it to add fuel to the fire. LOL this shite is funny to watch and read.. it's like R/C car world Jerry Springer :p

Yeah those, guys r still waiting for the 705. I wanted to get their kits as fast as I can. I already have their motors.

They bought three cars from me w/4 motors. .21 1 Rb modified c4 ($470 very rare, @ least I ahve some proof and dignity), the other one was a .21 SX 21.

I tried to be nice as possible and I will not stop being nice as possible even people will talk crap about me.

I do not care, I will have the last laugh soon as those drivers in Tinley receive the kits and motors they wanted.

Ur right MIke nothing to Argue about, after 4 moths US will have enough kits for the summer.

It is really funny when I read it. I just cannot believe it went this far. ;)

Hope my second batch of 705 will be here next week. It will be just a matter of time of how fast will be the international shipping from DHL considering its Xmas

These second batch will be only for Chicago racers I will make sure the three kits will go to Tinley Park.

I will deliver the kits for the racers that lives in Chicagoland. Free delivery in person.

Albert I am not trying to compete, I had the orders since the last race in Tinley. I will make sure if I ran out of kits I will give the number of the person who needs that kit if u have the stock or ur stock gets here before my stock.

I will make sure Chicago racers will be the priority than any other state drivers.

I made a mistake selling the first two in Atlanta GA.

I will make sure Chicago Serpent Supporters and Consumers will have support in parts and technical support even in their Rb, Novarossi, Collari, JP modified , PIxi , Sirio .12 .15 .21motors.

thanks

ANTHONY

Relax guys, again, I NEVER said I own the 705.....? That is just a picture forward by my friend in Holland once he received his first 705 last week.......I never own that picture and I never will......and I didn't know he is selling that on EBAY....but again, that is just someone pictures.

But still, there are NO definite date of the release of 705 in USA, most likely early JAN next year, and right now, beside those SPECIAL someone (near Serpent driver, dealer and hobby shop owner).....no one should be able to get one EXCEPT those who ordered thru Holland, Serpent and RCinternational.........RCinternational accpet pre-order a week after the Chicago Hobby show.......for a MAD price of $360 US plus shipping.........and right now, they are selling that for $380 plus shipping......

I hope the 705 will be a better car again, because I can see nothing but TROUBLE about this car UNLESS you can figure out the rear ball diff and the new Centax 2......not to mention the SERPENT is one of the hardest tuning TC on the market.

Rookie is right this is one of the most hard to tune TC in the market. It depends what race track u at.

Re: Ball diff. make sure that they do not lock, or change it w/ solid axle in the rear Like many Serpent drivers did such as Ralph Burch, Micheal Salven, tentoff, and Iwamoto. Pic below.

Good thing about the ball diff, u can make ur impulse 2wd. Try to drive 2wd and control the car. Then go back to 4wd u might be a better driver if u handled the 2wd.

Re: Centax 2

I found out that centax 2 is easier to set up. Its like the kawahara centax for Mugen Mrx, or Kyosho Fantom sports.
This clutch is more precise because of the bigger thrust bearing 5x10.

Hi,
I'm new to the boards, and live in lockport so I figured I'd say Hi. I'm looking for a cheap nitro tourer at the moment, so maybe I can get to race with you guys some time. (translation: you can make me look stupid)

Any of you ever get out to 159th and torrence on the weekends for drag races?

Take it easy,

I had heard that there are alot of guys running super nitro rs4s and the like in chicagoland. Is this true? I have owned a couple tourers, and driven just about all the RTRs but was thinking about a super nitro.

Drop: Don't think........Get one, we should be able to get a Super Nitro Class at Tinley park raceway or Hobbytown Raceway at Oak park.......but the most interesting part about SNRS4 is......we might mix with the Serpent IMPACT class, and don't be fool by those IMPACT, they are NOT that much faster then SNRS4.

Of course, we have typical Touring cars, elect car, buggy and other classes including Super Nitro.....so bring whatever you feel like racing and join us the Spring/Summer.

Again, please sign up on www.chicagorc.com (yes, it is free)

http://www.chicagorc.com/club/club2001.html

and checkout

Tinley park raceway - http://www.chicagolandrc.com/

or Hobbytown Raceway at Oak park (under Chicago RC website)

This is my SNRS4 almost stock......start looking for one on ebay now.

There are plenty of SNRS4 on sale on ebay, the SNRS4 you see above was from someone in Chicago........ $250 and with one brand new HPI .12 RS engine with I will sold it for $80.....so my car is like $160.....and the car was like brand new.

Keep looking and the race season is coming........

just found this thread...

I am somewhat new to the R/C race scene but have jumped head first into it :P

My buddy and I formed a team and for the last 2-3 months have been competing in offroad and onroad at Leisure Raceway and Venture Raceway.

Here is our website:

http://www.rcnchicago.com/~nexus1/
Team Primitive

Right now we are concentrating on our first Novice points series at Venture Raceway. We are 1st and 2nd in the Novice stock electric touring right now.

Can't wait to visit Hobbytown/Tinley.

Have any of you ever raced at AJ's Racway in Dekalb. they have everything there from offroad to onroad to indoor carpet. The Carpet track changes every week. They race almost ever class during the summer. In the winter they still have the indoor carpet with multiple classes. If there is anyone that races carpet trucks please come out and race. If we can get enough people AJ will start a bracket.
