couple ?s...

have a mrp bud light tunnel electric...

looking to get into nitro

first, how difficult would it be to convert this to nitro?

and also...some personal opinions / experiences on favorite .21 tunnels, monos, cats, and hydros would be greatly appreciated

thanks

after checking out the hull, i dont think it would be that difficult to convert it to nitro
the biggest problem would seem to be radio box clearance, linkage space, and tank placement...but im sure w/ a little work, it would all be fine

biggest concern, which is where im hoping people might have personal expererience converting electric to nitro....

the hull is only 22" long and 9.5" wide...and abs....extremely light on the water

is this hull too small and too light for todays ob's?

(the next smallest 3.5 tunnel is 24"L and 12.5"W)

converting to nitro, huh?
im doing the same thing w/ my 'cat'...........
here's a list of what you need to do:
strengthen the hull up with an extra [in your case "a"] coat of fiberglass cloth....the vibrations of nitro will pull apart glue that is not glassed, and plain ABS will flex horribly.
get some lusterkote paint or other nitro-proof paint and spray it on everywhere that raw nitro or exhaust might tough-otherwise it will eat away the glass/ABS.
use either a TT or OS .12 [not .21] on your tunnel, 22" is WAY to small for .21. both of these engines are cheaper than almost all .21 OBs, but very high quality. if you do it right, the boat should be a competetive .12-class racer when your finished.
email me at mmlennarz@earthlink.net if ya got any questions...
