Leecraft I hear are some of the best. There's also Bandit. You can get plans by Jerry Dunlap available from R/C Boat Modeler.

Also, I believe MRP is not in business anymore.

I've run the DPI's, liked them but they may be out of business . Their web site is down. I tried the MRP hull, the radio box was terrible, very hard to tape down. Hopper makes a good one and if you like to build, the Villan from www.grimracer.com is the way to go. The Dumas tunnels are still being raced successfully, although a little short for the modded motors. Got one of those sitting in my basement that belongs to a friend for sale RTR at a reasonable price if anyone is interested. Leecrafts are getting to be hard t get nowwith the owners having health problems. Seen a few other good ones currently on eBay.

Got one of those for sale too. Seeing how you live in Michigan we might be able to work something out. Complete minus radio TX and RX, spare parts motor and other parts go with it. E-mail me.

for 3.5....what would you pick....prather lapcat 1, dumas hotshot sprint abs 3.5, or dpi 3.5? (i cannot figure out how to locate / contact b&m mfg for leecraft tunnels...if someone can tell me how, please do)

and for 7.5s...suggestions appreciated

also, for stock running 3.5....prefer OS or K&B??

thanks

Out of the choices that you have there, I'd go with the DPI. The only changes that I made on mine was to put the main tank on the floor and a hopper tank in the upper position where the main tank went for a lower CG. The Leecrafts are available through www.alshobbyshop.com, talk to Cindy, she races the 7.5 version.
For the 7.5 size, the Leecraft, Aerotech, Hopper and the Hornet are very good. The DPI has a rocker in the bottom which makes it harder to set up.
Lastly, the motor of choice is still the K&B if you can find one. A few have been seen on eBay.

For a K&B engine, go here http://www.modelengine.com/kbindex.htm

They only sell directly to the public now, it seems.

You can get a brand new 3.5 DPI for like $75 @ http://www.dpileisuresports.com/products.asp
call them they usually have better prices than the website. I ran Bandit's but are a little tougher to set up than a LeeCraft or Aerotech. Hoppers hop too much. I hear the Van Hooten Hornet is a good boat and did well at the Nat's but are real expensive. The Prather's always roll over or get blown over. Don't bother w/MRP you'll want to trade up right away.
