Hi I have never owned a nitro boat but would like to get one. I would like one that is $400 or less. Can you please tell me some good models. Also can you tell me some good hobby sites where I can get boats for reasonable prices? Thanks a lot!

I am assuming that you are talking $400.00 complete. Everyone's first choice might be the Pro Boat Miss Bud. Check around to see what you like and come back here to get an honest review of it. Check out eBay also and the for sale area of this site.

You might want to give the Nitro Fury some consideration then. I bought one for messing around with and is a fun little boat for the price. With the ABS hull though, it has to be painted inside and out to fuel proof it be cause the nitro will melt the plastic (Gee, how'd I know that?).

are you up to some building? if so, the possibilities are unlimited!
[no, really, they are]
if you wanted a really crazy little cat for not that much, you could try doing what im doing now.......that way i could help you when you get in trouble building.

Thanks for the help but Im not very good at building things but I can maintain them and work them. Could you guys throw some names of boats out there that are good and under $400 US? Thanks a lot!

Oh yeah and also, does the miss bud boat only make right turns? Will it take some water with waves? Thanks!

miss buds like any decent hydro, it'll make left turns, but they will be sluggish and cranky. i dunno about it taking waves though.
a few to look at would be the Traxxas Nitro Vee, the Hobbico Nitro Hammer, and [i dont know much about this boat] the Kyosho Blue Streak. if your looking for first-time speed though, a 400$ electric would blow most of these away..........

sure thing!!
go to
dpileisuresports.com
and bbyracing.com
both of these have several excellent boats that can be bought in several stages of completion.....with the bby ones, putting the stuff in your hull will save enough to get a decent radio and some damn good batt. packs
take a good long look at both of those sites and tell me what you think.

Thanks for all your help! I think what I am going to do is take out the ez start and .15 engine and either putting in an M-16 or some .21. About how fast would that OS .21 engine your talking about push the nitro vee? Also what else would I need for it to put it in my boat. Thanks and how would I go about buying the engine if i decided i wanted it? Thanks a lot! If you answered this question in the other thread i asked it in dont worry about responding to this one. Thanks soo much for your time and help!

well i have the .15 nitro falcon and i have to say it is a great kit boat.
it cost $240 then all you have to do is buy a radio.
The construction is very easy. iti s step by step instructions.
Horizon hobbie carries the boat.
It does 20 to 25 mph. i had mine runng at 35mph and the drive shaft broke but it was not that great of a drive shaft. i i'm proves it and now goingto run a 45mm prop on it with alot of pich and it should run again at 30+mph.
It is very easy to put together. i was 12 when i got the boat and put it together in 2 nights.
it does take some time to brake in the dyanmite .15 watercooled engine but it is a blast.
good luck

nitro falcon......is that the OB one?
[or am i thinking of the nitro freedom?]
please excuse my stupidity greg......:)
if it is the OB, what engine are you running?
a way to boost the speed considerably would be to use a TT Pro [i think they make it in .15 or .16] and a decent tuned pipe.
are you lubing your drive shaft? if so, what're u using?
[that can have a big effect on breaking them]

Ya the freedom is the ob one.
i have a friend that has one and it has a .15bug on it and that does about 25-30mph with out any tuning. with a new prop i would be doing 35.

I'm not to worried about the nitro falcon any more. it hasa .15 dynamite watercooled engin in it. i'm working on my new speedmaster right now, and thinking of racing it. my firend got his up to 55mph so i can't wait till mine gets done!!!

speedmaster's a good lil' .21, i think you'll have fun w/ it.
what engine are u planning on using?
CCC, this boat might be an option for you, pair it w/ speedmaster's hardware and one of hammer's .21s for starters, you'll have an excellent race-quality boat for around 400, and you can upgrade to a more competetive .21 when you've got the hang of it.

Thanks for the info.
I have been fooling around with fast boat now for 3 years and i love the speed.
I also fly rc planes so i really unders stand how it all works.
Do you know of any good micro kits? i live in a very small cove on a lake and was thinking of getting into them.

well,
the zig-zag racer is the newest mini, but 10-15 mph probably wouldnt satisfy you.......check out the BBY Micro Patriot....you can get it in carbon-fiber ultralight for 35$ bucks, stick a 6cell pack and ROAR motor in it, and you should get 20-27 mph!![not that fast compared to big elec or nitros, but when you see a 15" hull going 27 mph, it looks pretty damn cool]
