Cool, thanks Steve.
Hello all. Please post pics and info on your Hotshots, I, II, and the Supershot.
I will post pics ASAP of the one I just got. I am wondering if anyone (that actually run theirs) has any cooling problems with using new esc. And which pinion gears work best for certain motors. For example, I wish to put a Speed Gems Emerald, 15t double I think, in mine as soon as I get my new parts.

What's not in the pics is a front bumper, a bunch of spare parts and the antenna rods.
This was given to me by one of the guys at my LHS, it was his uncle's and he was gonna toss it out. Seeing as it was the first RC Car I had ever wanted as a kid and did not get, parents didn't see the point in shelling out $200 for car, $100 for transmitter, $30 for batt, $40 or so for batt charger and a bit more for paint and finishing supplies(plus they really could not afford it at the time), I had to rescue it. :) Now I have two classic Tamiya cars, a Hotshot I and a Madcap (my first RC Car...bought it with my first tax return)
Now I'm waiting on parts from eBay...new body and wing, two trianglular wheel attacher things and a bunch of other misc parts to finish rebuilding it. All I really need to get it running are the two wheel things anf two upper rear arms (where the rear shock mounts to them is broken). Luckily I got all this from one auction. Now as to my original post to any out there who own, and run, one of these. Have you had any cooling problems with using a new esc, since the thing must be placed into a plastic box with little airflow.

Man, I love old Tamiya buggies...the realism...love the way they actually have fauz chassis tubing and all that...

Yeah, I really like the drivers and interiors. It's a pity Tamiya doesn't make the interiors like they used to. They are a bit smaller than they used to be.

Well, it's a different car entirely. But since no one else seems tobe posting their Hotshot pics and info here, I don't see why not.

ThunderShot, since it was disscussed and "approved" earlier I might post these here...
It belongs to a friend of me that has had it since his parents bought it new for him and his brothers...
I recently "restored" it by putting kyosho rins and tires on it...(we didn't feel it was worth putting alot of money for original spares)...
It's running with a 16T or 15T engine with double wind and an HiTech SP-520+

Oh, and the shocks are replaced with the POS kyosho standard ones, increased articulation but we'll have to see about preformance...the shocks are known for leaking...

my yellow shocks don't leak at all. I know you can buy the shock bodies still and rebuild them. I need to take photos of my terra scorcher but it is beat down now. I broke that famous A-5 on the A tree. DOH! and nobody has that part anywhere except in their own car. :(

I'm not complaining about the yellow shocks but the shocks I have on now...We'll have to see if they leak to much I'll but the yellow ones back on...the kyosho shocks thats on there now have a longer stroke, thats why I put them there...

I used to have a Thundershot...it was my first 4WD RC car and I beat the heck out of it. One tip, buy another shock for the front and eliminate the single shock setup. Alls you have to do is remove the two black shock mounts and bolt the shock from the holes on the arms to the shock towers. I did this on my Thundershot back then and it worked wonders for the handling. If you're looking for new shocks, consider the HPI Sport shock kits. They are definitely bang for the buck.

We'll for starters, it's not mine, it's my buddys. I just "restored" it for him...
He just put about 200 bucks (2000 SEK) for the tires, rims, 2 x 3000 mHa batteries and some small stuff like hex-adaptors and alu wheel nuts and so on...I don't really think that he are willing to shell put about 50 bucks for new front shock right way...
I like the idea though, I fried that myselfe when I were in the process of restoring it but I found out that the shocks were to long...

It's a two belt buggy and will be released in July. I'v heard that the price is 198000 yen, but I don't quote me on that.
