I am just getting ready to purchase my first RC truck (make and model still unknown) and wanted some input on radio's. I am not going to be a serious racer but I do plan on joining a local club and will eventually want to race a little. I would like at least a 3 channel and would like it to be FM. I would also like it to have just the essentials needed to set the car up solid and ease of operation is a big concern. I have no idea what to buy but am looking at either the JR XR-3 or the Futaba 3PDF. What are your thoughts on these radios? If they are way outdated please let me know. I'm open for discussion and need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance.

In my experience, you don't need much more than a basic 2-channel radio with steering and throttle end-point adjustments. I'm sure the other adjustments have their purpose, but I've never really heard a clear explanation as to what they can really do. FM is never a bad choice. What do you need the 3rd channel for?

Futaba is the best radio manufacturer IMO. Can't go wrong with any of their stuff.

I don't really need the 3rd channel right now, but I know in the future I will so I just want to have a radio that is equipped with one.
