Does anyone have this boat? Is it any good? How fast is it?

I had the original turbo vee a long time ago, and it was pretty slow, i dont know how fast this one is, mine was pretty well made, but i didnt like the way the prop came out of the bottom of the boat. also the radio box didnt seal up all that great and it comes with a crappy mechanical speed control, however the radio was a futaba style and pretty good quality.

Sorry to resurrect old threads but I thought I would reply as to give it actual facts about the Turbo Vee II. A couple of friends at work purchased this boat a while ago. These are nice boats for $100 or under. They include a ESC and a 540 water cooled motor. They have a decent Futaba made radio. They include trim tabs and turn fins. They have decent speed for a first time boat buyer and can be a bit faster on 7 cells. You could upgrade the motor, esc, and prop for a faster boat. If you want a cheap entry level boat to play around with these are great boats. I however purchased the Hobbico Aquacraft Hammer EP. It is made by the same manufacturer and very similar to the Turbo Vee II but offers just a bit more for the $30 price difference. It adds a dual rate steering on the radio, a 550 size water cooled motor and is longer about 26" from tip to rudder. For $130 or less I dont know that you could do much better than one of these two boats.

I just got my turbo Vee 2 about a week ago. *Dont Get it!* It catchs air which causes it to looses traction. It turns *Ok.* For the same amount of money you can get a better boat.

traction? that isn't a boat term.
Don't listen to him. This is a very good boat for the money, and I would be VERY surprised if you could find a better one for the $$$. As for turning OK, it turns surprisingly sharp in one direction, and decently in the other, just like all boats.
BTW- catching air in an RC boat (wave jumping) is half the fun.

Catching air would be fun usually. If you run in a place where there is always waves or bigger chop then obviousely you would need a bigger boat to run there. The Turbo Vee II is light and pretty fast for its size, so ya it probably would catch air on smaller waves or chop. I dont actually own the Turbo Vee II but my friends do and I have driven them and checked them out. I bought the Hobbico Aquacraft Hammer EP. Its very similar but is slightly longer and wider and has dual rate steering which helps a ton in my opinion. Turning is very close on mine in either direction, but I understand all boats have less one way than the other. I'm not saying that the Turbo Vee II or the Hammer EP are the best boat you can buy, but for the money I believe they are one of the best values you can find.

Is anyone having trouble with the range on the Turbo Vee. I recently purchased the Combo Pack, and the boat stutters alot when it gets maybe 150 - 200 feet away. Is this something that happens with all boats, I am new to this and just trying to figure things out. I was expecting a little more range, but if this is what to expect I would be fine with it.

....You should og got a zig zag racer 2 and bought a 7 cell pack for it. It will have a great increase in speed and would cost you about 115 bucks. Too late now though....

Now you got me thinking that there is something wrong with my turbo vee 2 cause mine does not turn well.

Check your rudder throw/position. The best position for the pushrod is on the farthest out hole on the servo arm, and the farthest in on the rudder. This will give you the most throw. Also, check that it is centered when the trim is centered on the radio. If the trim is way off to one side, then you are loosing some throw to that side.
