I got a relic Blackfoot that I just put back together last night after years of sitting around the house. It runs great for not having any attention for so long. Well up here in western NY it's snowing and wet. I have the factory tires on it still which are a harder compound. They don't grip at all under any condition, truck just does donuts the entire time which is pretty boring after a while. What are some good tires that I should consider for bombin' about during the holiday season? I know I need a softer compund but should I look at tires with spikes or tires without or just a more agressive pattern? What companies are out there, I'm so out of the loop after working on road cars for a while. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Pro-Line paddles are good for snow and mud. Something like the Mashers or Masher 2000's should work OK as well. You could also give the big 'chocolate chip' spikes from Pro-Line or Duratrax a shot.

would I have to go with new wheels for those or will the fit on the Blackfoot factory rims?

They will fit on the blackfoot wheels, but you will want to buy new ones if you have glued the old tires to the wheels. Tamiya wheels will fit of course, and HPI makes wheels with adapters to fit the Blackfoot.

Tower is as good as any place I have found. Stuff might be a buck or two cheaper other places, but for stuff like this, you can't beat Tower for selection.
