could you run a LRP Quantum Competition with the Vortex Brushless motor?

no, you need a special brushless motor controller the have 3 wires and rotate the current +- around the magnet, exactly reverse of brushed systems, sorry i suck so badly at explaining bl systems

the reason a bl system needs a special esc is because the magnets are on the rotating thing (The armature) and the coils are on the can. (inside out compared to a brushed.) since the switching isn't mechanical (like in brushed motors - thats what the brushes du with the three grooves on the comm) it has to have an electronic method. thats why it has 3 wires. thats also why it is more effecient. another thing is that bl has more torque. since it doesn't have the comm and brushes, the whole can has wires and magnets, generating more torque than a normal motor. it also has less rotating mass because the magnets are smaller than the arms on a normal motor and the bl uses neodyium magnets (rare earth metals) while normal motors use ferrite magnets (machine made)
check the bl thread for other good systems.
