whats the best way to start the ek4? i have a starter box for my 1/8 buggy would that work good or would i need something else?
dynamite or nitro glycerin.:D Actually I think it's a pullstart or an electric drill, no way to use a starter box as far as I know.

You can use an airplane hand held starter or an electric drill will the supplied hex rod. You can also buy the MSJ flywheel and use your starter box. Make sure you buy the version 2 of the ek4, as the first one is a money pit (still fun, but a money pit).

I'm a old school Ek4 er (if there is a such a thing) I have to say that at this point I have not droped any extra cash into my Ek4 with the exception of getting a new head and starter. This was not due to failures but just my birthday present! Yes you will need a drill. The airplane starter idea is a waste of time. Keep in mind that you would have to lug the battery and the starter to the fields and BMX track. It is far easier to just bring your electric drill. I have to agree that the V2 has all of the first run problems solved! I don't care what other monster truck you have driven the EK4 is the king of monster trucks. That power is unlike anything else. I went with from a 14 tooth clutch bell (stock) to a 18 tooth and I did not seem to loose any low end grunt but the top end speed is beyond belief. A cop clocked mine at 51 mph and threatened to give me a ticket! (joking of course) If anyone doubts the EK4 just drive one and then try to go back to a little .25 .24 .21 or 2.5 even less you simply cannot. I used to have a monster pirate with a Picco G-1 (one of the best off road racing motors made!) and a 2 speed tranny. then a guy showed up to my BMX track with his EK4. we swapped controllers and I sold the Monster pirate the next day! I waited a month for my Ek4 to come in stock and I did not mind the wait! I have to tell you that it is vital that you use Cool power heli fuel. I don't care what anyone tells you about any other fuel. No one has motor problems when running Cool power. It is a ringed motor so it will run slobering rich even when broken in it really needs the extra oil. It takes about a gallon to break this motor in! However ringed motors last almost 3 times longer! Cool power is the way to go! I use 30% nitro 22% oil cool power. You will not belive how much more fun this power house is. Nothing I mean nothing comes close to it;)
