Hi People,

I played around with boats when I was a kid, building a nitro airboat (competition winner) and an electric powerboat.

Finally, now I have some time and money to waste, and thought I might try building something different. I was inspired by the Jetboats in New Zealand which are amazing, and as I live on a fast-flowing river, I thought this would be a good project for the winter, and a great toy for the summer.

So far, I have identified the engines (twin .32s) and jet units, but havent found a decent hull. Im looking for an (roughly) 1m aluminum shallow-V.

Any advice, experiences, recomendations etc warmly welcomed!

Cheers,

Nic.

Ps. Attached is the full-size version of what I want to build... Squirt 2, a jet-turbine power boat!

Beautiful boat! Did you build that baby yourself? I got hooked on the sprint boats also watching them a few years ago on Speedvision, now Speed TV. I was wondering why they had roll bars on them until I saw why!
Anyway, back to the subject. I don't know of anyone building aluminum mono hulls but have seen scratch-built including a gas powered sprint boat in RCBM. If you can bend up that boat, an R/C version ought to be a snap for you.

I wish I had built that boat, but unfortunately I didnt - it was down to a gas-turbine company showing off there skills...

I was doing a search on aluminum hulls and that came up... just lucky it is the full size version of what I was dreaming...

Though you suggestion is cool - I did metalwork at school, so I might have a bash an making this hull 1/5th size. When I do, I will post progress here!

Cheers,

Nic.
