Hi,

Im just curious, but has anyone heard of River Ascent competitions?

Bascially, a course is set out on a river (with rapids, white water etc) and the RC boat has to make it up.

Competition is judged on either distance climbed or time across a set course. Boats are categorised by Engine size only.

If noone has heard of this, does it sound interesting?

Cheers,

Nic.

I've only seen the river racers on the Colorado and Snake Rivers on TV. It would be interesting to try, could be a challenge to keep up with the boat though. What I'd really like to see is an R/C version of the Sprint boat races. It could be set up in an area that is too small for a normal race and run through a course using Fun-Noodles or buoys to mark it off. A boat with a lot of acceleration plus the ability to make both left and right turns quickly is needed. Electrics would probably be the best way to go.

Yes this is very interesting, especialy with electrics,It would open possibilites for new running areas and possible conflicts with outdoors groups too.The other problem is jet drives are mandatory I tried running an electric in a river nearby and got tired of replacing props,or at least a prop guard would be have to be used. But if you find the right place it would be a blast.Have fun.:D
