My hobby shop has a Kyosho Inferno (I think 7.5 not sure..) for 275$ I had planend to buy this.
but yestarday he got in a Lite Machines Helicopter its 175$ model 116..
Heres how I look at it, Do I want a top of the line RC 1/8 scale buggy or a relatively cheapy helicopter compared to others thats a 100 bux less...
Any suggestions?

the buggy sounds like the better choice. i say go with it. besides if a big wind comes up the helicopter will be gone.:(

Whether you have a sim or not, r/c heli's are not even remotely easy to fly so I doubt very much you will grow out of it soon. Most people who buy R/C heli never learn to fly them, which is why so many shops stock the kits but not the parts. The heli will require it be perfect weather out side, the buggy can be run in the rain, shine or snow.

litemachines are actually not cheepie. They are the best to learn with because they are extremely durable. I've done alot of research on r/c helicopters and i feel that a lite machines would be the most succesful way to start flying them. If I didnt buy the savage for christmas i wouldve got a the lite machines.

would you think 175$ for a litemachines with 4 channel radio and manuals is good? the model 116?
how much can you do on them?

It is used, thats why I am not 100% sure its the 7.5 it might be the 6..
I am really leaning towarsd this heli. Thats the field I have always wanbted to be in and I think if I get this and learn it I can get a nicer one easier (parents be more willing to let me dish out thatm uch $$$)..
any comments?
The inferno is a awsome buggy, but the fact I do not know FOR SURE its a 7.5 and the possibility of it being a mp6 and me not being able to get parts much longer scares me..

If it is an inferno 7.5, i would definetly take it. Thats just my opinion...........

Yes I like it, but I am afraid its not a mp7.5 and is a older model, which can cause problems for parts ;/

Isn't the 116 electric? Take it to the school gym and fly all you want, and no wind either. But if it's a 7.5 get the buggy, and make that fly instead (BIG jumps :D )

Don't worry about parts availability.I have hit a tree at 40 mph with my older inferno, and I didn't even scratch the bumper. You would have to go pretty insane to break an inferno.

You just have to remember that helis take a lot of practice to fly and crashes aren't cheap (even on electrics).

Errr, every day I change my mind hehe..
More I think bout cost to run more buggy looks apealing. I think Heli wil have to wait till I have a steady job (I am 15). Besides my summer job of mowing and such.
So yes here comes the buggy.. I have 200 and haven't even got my xmas money yet ;p
Decisions suck !

i have two friends that fly helis. it is an expensive learning experience. when you land too hard the blades snap off. remember when you are in the air and you lose control it slams into the ground. how high do you want to fly. you will have more fun with the buggy. unless you have alot of land you will not be able to fly it. my friends
got kicked out of the school yards, parks, my work, the beach. something about the blades turning scares people. i won't get near the thing.

Wuss. :p
I fly a .60 size heli myself. Unless you have a lot of pateince and time, and a deep wallet, stay the hell away from helicopters. The bigger they get, the more expensive they get. And if you get addicated, you'll end up spending thousands of dollars on them. :D
A heli that small will get boring pretty quick, and the 4 channel radio will NOT let you move up to bigger models. You need five channels WITH channel mixing to get anything bigger. So you'll be pretty much starting from scrath once you get done with this model and want a bigger one.
The buggy on the other hand will give you many hours of enjoyment with little to no problems. Plus, you won't have to spend HOURS learning how to control it, let alone HOURS setting it up. :)
Its your money, do what you want with it....

Hairball said it pretty well. I have a 30 size. although thier not as hard to fly as some people say it still takes alot of practice. Thier very nerve racking, there not like a car or boat where you can just relax and play, you have to be on you're toes at all times. If it is electric, the run times are pretty short. I know a litemachine isnt as sophisticated as the bigger ones, but on the big ones even a little crash will be costly, plus the downtime. You would probably be wise getting the car. Good Luck

You kept saying that you weren't sure if the Buggy was a 7.5 or a 6. Why don't you just ask the guy at the hobby store?

all you need is a 20 dolla bike ramp Why spend the cash?I use CURBS.I can easily get 8-12 feet in the air, witout damaging ANYTHING.I don't go very far, just upwards, and it's FREE!

heres whatI am getting for xmas..
a glow plug igniter
a 60dollar airplane starter...
this leaves me able to get the buggy and have to buy the adapter to hook to teh airplane starter and fuel to use it..
or
buy the helicopter buy the adapter for litemachines and get fuel and fly it..
this leaves me open I think this is a good solution..
