Hey Troy,
Wicked tool box/parts assembly you got there.
What "brand" is that blue tool box?
Thanks.

speedydave,
Nice. What parts box is that on the left? And where did you get it? I'm in need of a new toolbox, since my current toolbox has had its share of abuse.
Thanks.

That's a box I picked up at ACE Hardware. I don't know the actual name, or part number of it though, but I've seen some from other companies, too. They come in two sizes. It's great, because you can put small parts and stuff in the top, and tools and larger parts, like arms, on the bottom. :)

Thanks, It's just a basic Plano Tool and Tackle box. It was a Christmas present about two years ago, so I'm not sure exactly where it was bought, but probably Farm & Fleet.

If you want a very good tool box go to snapon.com they have every size you would ever want. They even have 1/4 scale versions of real tool boxes like you would have in your garage.:D

true, the only drawback is that they are steel. super heavy...but they look great! my dad is a snap-on tool dealer and i have looked at every imaginable option to try and use one that would be practical, it just doesn't seem feasible. plus they're kind of costly....oh well, you get what you pay for. i have a plano tool box like tadium's except i think it's an older model, doesn't have the blue lid.

Exactly what Im trying to get away from. My toolbox itself is 25-30lbs. Combined, My toolbox and pitbox are between 50-60lbs.

Well I do not have a pic and I do not own one but..... There used to be this thing called "The Pit Box". It was awsome. It was made of wood. It was huge. Let me see if I can describe it. The top lifted up. Then you folded down the front. Then each side folded out. It had places for everything, including a carstand that was built in to the box. It actually clamped down on the sides of the chassis so it would not move.

I'll have a photo later, but I can tell you that its way too small, only half of my stuff fits in it, its 100% plastic and I bought it from Wal-Mart for $4.99.
I'm cheap:D

I bet the fishing and hunting tackle box people like Plano, and Flambeau made such nice pit boxes for us. :D
I got the Massive Flambeau Kickdraw box, it's huge, has 4 interchangeable boxes inside, two small ones on top, and the flip up small tool compartment, and enough storage inside the hatch for lots of stuff.

Ya, went to Wal-Mart today and saw this big roomy Stanley tool box (plastic). Had 13 outer pockets made of a heavy duty nylon material and a really big sorting tray in the lid as well as a removable tray inside. Its big. Should be getting it for X-Mas, and its only $15 bucks!

funny thing happened today. Around 6:10 p.m. I was reading this page and I had to go out. About half a mile down the road I see a snap-on truck at the gas station. It was about the size of an RV and Snap-on in big red letters. What a coincidence :D

Don't give Trinity any ideas. I can just see it now. Trinity outsources their tool-boxes to Plano and then charges $60 for the same box you can get at any fishing store for $30.

It could be worse than the Trinity scenario we could have to depend on Great Planes to wholesale the boxes to them. Not only would they be expensive, but they would never be in stock either.:D

The Ultimate Toolboxes
The one on the right is a rolling Plano box. It has 3 drawers, an opening top big enough to put a touring car in without body and a tilting bottom drawer where I put my charger, batteries, motor, radio and have room for more crap.
The one on the left is a Master cart and has 2 parts bins on the top which then opens to a large space with 3 plano bins. On the bottom it has a seperate comparment where I have 13+ pairs of tires.
Basically, I can fit everything I need for a race day in these two tool boxes so I don't have to go to the car 5 times to unload.

I use a Plano box too. Its not a huge one, but its just big enough to hold basically everything I need. In the second pic, you can see (somewhat) how I cut parts of the box out, then lined it with foam to house my radio.

I have a craftsman rolling box with two lift out trays that have plenty of compartments and one of which is deep enough to hold my chargers or a radio plus the bottom compartment holds 2 touring cars with bodies, their radios, and enough tires and micellaneous for anyone. It is lightweight, rolls well, strong enough for my 235lbs to stand on and holds everything possible. Only bad part is it is so big I have to lay it flat in my trunks or set it in the passenger sit! I am converting to nylon bags for going to snowbirds so I will have a little luggage room left. If my stupid camera had not died I would post a pic:rolleyes: . Sorry.

I have this big 30 lb wood one with two 8 wide and maybe...hm....5 inces tall wood drawers in the bottom row and a shoebox for just one big drawer on top, lol. It was an old slotcar box. this has all the instruments, containers, bottles and parts in it, for tools, i have a litttle red box i got for a few bucks at home depot.
right now its all still in my pop's in FL...its been there since last year...I went down sept 8 and came back up sept 20th...
In other words when i went down, i was allowed to bring it with me on the plane, and when i went back up, i couldnt bring my nailclipper.
