Ok so not that i got the DVD crap out the way lol, Me and her little brother went to break in the MAXX. Boy does it sound sweet! BRAAP BRAAP! anyways. It was about 38 to 40 F out side. The first tank was good it ran sluggish but thats what happens on break in. Next tank whole different story The steering wouldn't work then the truck took off WAMB BAM under the dodge intrepid and smacked into the tire. We let it cool down for a couple of minute after the first tank. Could this have happened because it was cold outside. I don't think so, but they still think that was the prob! Anyways we tested the throttle and steering servos and the revers and everything work fine the next day so he is gonna wait till spring ot break it in.

With the engine not running, place the truck down, and one of you walk away with the transmitter. My bet it will lose range in a matter of a few feet. Either put new batteries in the RX and TX, or check the receiver antenae. I have never heard of the cold causing a range or runaway problem. The cold does eat up batteries quickly however.

Make VERY sure you have it turned on. Mine took off with nothing responding, and luckily we caught it, held it down, and killed it. Low and behold, the on/off switch was off.

Tell him to beak it in now. Cold didn't cause this. also tell him to check EVERYTHING before cranking the truck. Turn it on, operate steering, throttle, and shifter to check for quick movement. Waiting till spring is a waste of time.

Take out the Batt's and inspect the wires to see if they didn't get pinched by the box and cut when you tightened down the screws. Also check the antena, take it ALL THE WAY OUT of the tube, it could have gotten cut or caught on something when it went under the Intrepid.
Also- Are you using 4 RECHARGEABLE "AA's"??? if so, you not getting the full power you need to oporate the steering. Use a 5cell rechargable or 4 non-rchargables (like Energizer, Duracell, a good brand name)
Check the servo plugs, make sure none of them are loose or frayed.
Hope this helps

I think this has happened to everyone. One person on this board came up with the idea to start it off the ground holding it, its great because if it goes WOT at starting up, then it wont go anywhere and you can kill it.
You might want to make sure your throttle trim wasnt bumped, its what caused it for both me and a friend :)

One of the many reasons to have a throttle return spring. I thought the 2.5 had a return spring biult into the carb?

A TRS is moreso for when the batteries die. Then the servo will not have enough holding power to withstand the pull of the spring. The spring can't tell a glitch from standard imput signals.A failsafe would be more effective.

Yes, it has a trs, but it's not a very stong one, do yourself a favor, go ahead and put one on. It will save major front end damage.
