Am I wrong to assume that today's shock oils are not that susceptable to outside temps? I know in the old days they were, but I thought today's oils were not effected as much. In this case, I'm referring to Associated oils.

The pure silicone oils from Associated,Losi, and Trinity are supposed to be resistant to thinning in the heat and thickening in the cold. I think in extremes, like near-freezing and very hot summer days, they can probably be affected, but I don't know how much. I'm not likely to run on either a very hot or very cold day anyway (Heat can cook your electrics and cold saps as much as 25% of your battery capacity), so I don't know for sure.
