For all of you guys (and gals) out there in Central Florida and Brevard county, plans are underway to construct a brand new track in Canaveral Groves park. This will be a huge off road dirt track and also have an on road track as well. Club members will have access 7 days a week to practice and we will be holding organized races with transponders eventually. This is a new plan (I just went to the first meeting today) and we will be able to use the public land as a not-for-profit club. Anyone in the area, get in touch with me if you are interested or have any questions.

Currently we drive an hour to Boggy Creek and an hour the other direction to Fort Pierce, so this will be more in our neighborhood. Oh yes, btw, the track will be a clay track.

We look almost set to go...we are awaiting response for our permits to use the public park. I have been "elected" committee chairperson for the off-road racing, so I will have mostly info on that, but a buddy of mine is chair for on-road. Looks like they might be able to start up first. We still have to plan and build the track ourselves :D Should be a lot of fun! Groundbreaking was supposed to be on or around the final week of February, but I suppose it's all the beaurocratic red tape that is holding us up. We haven't finalized "membership fees" and all for the club as of yet, but it will be as low as possible to cover all our maintanence needs...and possibly be ROAR insured and sanctioned!

Are you in Brevard county???

Yes, I am from Merritt Island, I just got into 1/10 nitro onroad, and am looking for a track to run at.

The only place for sure I know about current off-road racing is at Superior Hobbies in Orlando (Casselberry) www.superiorhobbies.com Once a month on a Sunday they cordon off their parking lot and set up the onroad track, and I hear it's becoming very popular!!! I think it would be worth the trip. Their off-road track is south of the Orlando airport at Boggy Creek, and we always drive up there, even just to practice, it's not a bad drive and always worth it! We just want a more local track, especially if we end up racing until late at night.

Have you heard of Spare Time Hobbies, on US 1 in Cocoa??? Right near Merritt Island in fact. They are about 1/2 mile south of SR528. They are looking to start a local on-road track also, I think. We used to race off-road there on Friday nights (they still hold the races, they start around 6 or 7 at night) but I always work weekend nights  The track is in the back of the hobby shop. Might be worth it for you to check it out one night, try and find some more on-roaders and get something together!

Yes i have heard of spare time hobbies, i even went there on friday to buy some fuel. I know they have the off road track behind the shop, and i drive past there every day during the week either on my way to BCC or to work. I have heard of Superior Hobbies, but havent had a chance to go overthere yet.

I have some on-roading buddies who go up there sometimes on Fridays, sometimes they even run their off-road cars, but it's a dirt track and we all prefer clay...oh well...

I will try and find out from them sometime this week if there is another on-road race. I think they run one in Palm Bay but I never go down there (I think it might be Space Coast Hobbies, but not certain). If I find out, I'll let you know.

It's slow going with the club right now (we are called "Space Coast R/C Auto Racers")...I'll let you know if any developments take place!!!
