Hey peeps, this is my home course I think it's pretty cool, because it has an off road track, and RC Mania has to large of prices for parts.
You people that race there might of seen me. I drive a Team Losi XXtcr with a really crappy body, a white/ tan body that has alot of chips on it from paint (don't ask, it was painted on the inside).
It has a blue 22 on the side with nitro power on both sides under the window, and RPM on the right side (looking at the front) right side, it has three stripes that go right to left, front to back with Tekin on it.It's a dodge Ram body with a really messed up spioler.
You might see me in the pits with a pitbox for my car and Misc. that's gray on the bottom, green lid, and a red pitbox for my parts with four white trays.
For those of you that aren't familiar with the course, SRC (Scottsdale RC Speedway) hosts the Pro-line Cactus Classic, The biggest race of Arizona, The 17 annual Cactus Classic is in March 21-23 in 2003.
Pro-line has some awesome pictures of the 16th Cactus Classic at

airsus- I do not know what classes they have for stock on road but I think they have quite a few classes for on-road on fridays. I think it is at 7pm.

drumr racer- Will you be there saturday? I will most likely be there with a XXXN-T that has a blue and red body with silver lightning.

Isn't this the 20th Cactus Classic coming up?

Oh, do you know SRS is building a nice fence all the way around the offroad track and the onroad track. Moving pits behind the offroad drivers stand and to the east. Putting power over there. Taking out the light on the track and extending the track 10ft to the east. It is probably done by now since 3 weeks ago(last time I was there) they said about a month.

02-06-2003, 10:40 PM
No I'm not, I have never raced, but i'm experienced in the practice part just because of the free part.
Dang I haven't been there 4 long, extending the track it's going 2 b awesome
I hope that they move their transponder wire too;)
It is the 17th annual, because I have their bulletin right infront of my face, it says March 21-23, 2003
I thought SRS didn't have a website, I've been searching for a website 4 years, but I found it at ScottsdaleRc.com (http://www.scottdalerc.com) I know I'm saving some people alot of trouble. When I saw the link (wherever I saw it) I didn't believe it!

Thanks for the link. Do you know what time they have the on-road track set up for practice on Fridays?

I'm waiting for a few more parts for my car that I ordered and I'm going to buy a new radio system, so I'm thinking I might be down there next Friday night

AWW, Ive been making a web site for them for the past few weeks. I was going to see if I could exchange it for some free races. lol It looks very similar to the one they have now. :p

Anyway,

airsus- What TC do you have? I think onroad starts at 7pm.

On-road race classes include: novice, stock, spec, modified, Chameleon, gas, and gas novice. All qualifiers are five minutes, with five-minute mains.

When I go on tuesday or thursday(which starts the same time) I am usually there around 3pm. The track is watered and all enough by 4pm. So Id guess they have it open about the same time. When the fence is up, the road coarse will be put out and left. So whenever the store opens the track should open.

It's actually an HPI Rally that I put normal shocks and tires on, so it's basically a Sport 2 now since they are almost identical in design. At the moment everything is stock except for the shocks and some Lunsford titanium turnbuckles (to fix the camber after lowering the car, and allow easy adjustment), but I've designed a custom chassis for it and I'm going to have someone make it for me hopefully by the end of February ;) .

I know the actual racing starts at 7, but I've never actually raced on a track before so I need to get as much practice as I can.

I've been 2 SRS on a Friday. I got there at six, and my father droped me off to look @ cars (1:1). About an hour later while I was wrenching on my car, dave pulled up, took out the hose, and washed off the asphalt of all the debris left from us off-roaders:p. He washed everything for about 2 hours while his dog was running around, playing in the water. After he was done, he took out pipe, and dots and put it around as a barrier, and started sculpting a track while he kept occasionally throw a pipe that his lab fetched and it did a good job retrieving. he made the track and put the dots on. Then he took pepsie Blue , put it in a container that you pump and it makes pressure kinda like a bug sprayer that you can buy at Costco.
He took the Pepsie (the only good thing for it) then started spraying coats of cola on the track for traction, the sugar helps wheels grip.
Then the shop opened, all that stuff happened b4 the shop opened.

Through out the day, Scott, and Dave spread Pepsie coats on the track while there was no1 on the on-road corse.

When the races are about to begin, the off-road track is closed

When they get the new fence up they will leave the onroad track setup and all the pits will be on the south and east of the track.

LOL that dog is funny. When we were building the last offroad track he was out there picking up the pipes, dragging, and throwing them. Sometimes he trip on them but he kept if till about midnight with only a break for water and food. LOL He was chasing mayfields(sp) 1/8 buggy too. It was so funny! :p

You may want to call ahead of time just to be sure they will race. They have been known to cancel racing at the last minute and all.

No, I don't think so. They are working on it. They were working on it the tuesday before last so it is probably going to be done before too long. Definatly by the Cactus Classic.

Yea Id like to see it run for the first time. I really don't see why it is such a huge deal though because it dosn't have any totally new, never-seen-before-technology. Do you know why? Or is it because it is AEs newest car in the "battle" against Losi, lol?

I am pretty sure there is no gas class unless your just practicing.

I saw it Friday because we drove down to the valley, then to Millanos, then to the track.

Today (Saturday) I will be wearing a pair of Jeans and a blue long sleeve shirt with yellow stripes on the sleeves, or I'll take the sweater off, and have a pee-yellow camoflauge shirt on.

Look for a person that is like a kid, but is not that tall but rather rounded. I am fourteen, but I look immature. I won't be racing, I will most likely watch around Matt Francis, or Brian Kinwald. Or I'll be in the shop, or walking around the pits. (yes I know, my ors really kill me, that is why I'm in Launguage Arts, I have to take it it's a requirenment for eighth graders.)

Hey, sorry to post again, but I was wondering what the show up is for the offroad races on saturdays, and the onroad races on the fridays. I would have gone and checked it out last week, but had some work to do. Do a lot of people show up? I am not gonna go and race if there is only like 2 people that show up.

Thanks in advance.;)

don't know about friday night touring car nights, but saturday is a big night. even on a slow day there are 10-11 heats.
usually:
2 for novice
2 for buggy stock
1 for buggy mod
2 for truck stock
1 (sometimes) truck mod or 4wd buggy
2 for nitro trucks
1 for t-maxx

starts at 6pm and ends around 11pm and then another 30-45mins of practice time :)

not sure. Ken so were u still thinking about going to tuscon to go visit competition hobbies? I might come this weekend on sat. it kinda depends because i dont have my truck anymore lol i sold it online :) i might have enough for the b4 kit which i want really bad :D if i do then i might either race that sucker in stock or modified this or next weekend.:D

kenfuji
05-07-2003, 08:51 PM
if i were you i would stick with novice stock for now. until you can get 25-27 sec laptimes on a stock motor at srs. i would not consider going modified unless you want to be eaten alive.

i just went to competion hobbies last week. i might go next sat.
the novice class there is very novice. i felt kind of guilty running in novice. if i knew that i would have ran in stock instead. i laped everyone atleast one and half times before some shinnanigans.
you should do very well there.

i'll probably be moving up to stock this weekend.

just a quick question.
I am military and was thinking about trying to come back home to AZ. Is this hobby shop gonna race 1/18 or 1/24 scale cars? I am looking into getting one of the other.

kenfuji
05-13-2003, 01:56 PM
it's mainly 1/10 scale
but we are trying to gather enough people to start a 1/12 pan car heat. the track size is perfect for a 1/12. med-small for a 1/10
very very large for a mini, but if you get enough people to start a heat for mini's i'm sure scott can arrange some thing. the only thing i can see as a problem though is the transponder since those cars are soooo small.

call them up and see what they say :)
