Well, on it's own scale (Not compared to other trucks), it's dang-near a 10. It's stupid-cheap, under $70 for a kit, and it's really durable and handles great. There are a few cons to it, but nothing big enough to make me advise against getting one:
- Bushings. No real problem there since there are bearings in the tranny and you only need 8 bearings for the wheels (More on this next).
- 5x8mm bearings are used in the wheels. These are really small and fragile, and can fail often. Thankfully RPM makes some carriers for the front and rear to take 5x11mm bearings which are much more durable, and the carriers are stronger too. For $10 they are an essential upgrade.
- The body and tires. Not exactly the prettiest, but nothing wrong with them. I'd maybe go for some grippier tires from the start, like Pro-Line Dirt Hawgs or Masher 2000s, or maybe some of Imex's new 2.2" tires. Use the stock body until it's trashed and replace it with one you like.
I think the 'Pede is a great basher. It's not 4WD and doesn't use huge tires but it's a great truck to run.

my little bro has a nitro pede he'd give it a 10. I like to run it over with my tmaxx but its all in good fun. The truck will wheelie for days and hauls with the stock .15 . Its kind of odd in its dimensions but its a great lil basher.

the pede is a awesome truck if you put some money into it.....go to thundertechracing.com...I put a full thunderteck pede together with cants associated shocks with piggy backs & diamond back(with the cants) cage ,out law chassis, sway bars, derlin front blocks,& masher tires,,with a 13/3 hand wond hole shot motor...& i can say that it was one of the best trucks that i have ever had ...or just put the diamond back cage on by thundertech & you will love your little pede.....very nice truck!!!....soon ill will build a nother one
I would rate the pede a 10 out of 10. it is stupid cheap, and it runs great and insanely durable. The nitro pede, well theres nothin like it on the market, it wheelies with a stock engine, not too many other trucks do that, and it is incredibly durable, I would rate it about a 12 out of 10.
The stock body is not the greatest but it works, it lasts just long enough for you to save up for a new body and have it painted before it pukes. The stock tires will work if you bust out the ole dremel and turn em into your own Masher 2K's. I did that with a set of mine and they worked just as good as my friends M2K's.
Bearings, yep the RPM carriers are needed, but thats a cheap upgrade. I ran my pede with bushings almost 2 years before I noticed any real slowdown in performance, but when I got em I was like "where have you been all my life".
Pede not 4wd? Yes it is, mine was, and a few other people have done it. Mine ran 550 motors, EVX, dual batts and Monster Pirate tires and it was still 4lbs lighter than a stock e-maxx, and completely wasted the stock maxx. The pede can be made 4wd quite easily, and if you go with a budget esc and some titan motors it can be made 4wd for about 50 bucks less than an E-Maxx.

The Duratrax trucks are somewhat similar to the Stampede, as are the CEN trucks and probably a couple other ones. Those are the same size, using 2.2" wheels and having similar width and length, but those are pretty different: They are more 'racing' based with the lower chassis. The electric and nitro Stampedes have the real high chassis and high clearance.
The Nitro Stampede has been discontinued, being replaced by the Sport Maxx.

I have a nitro pede
I got around $200 worth of mods on it. It is a very very fun and FAST little truck. I bash with T-Maxxs and E-Maxxs and a few Savages and it holds up well to abuse. I have had it for 6 months and only part I have had to repair was the little plastic drive axles where a rock came in there and bent it. I have jumped this truck eye level to me and it land and keep on going.
It has a speed of 35mph aprox. right out of the box. Like wheelies? It does wheelies right out of the box. But I geared mine like a week ago to not wheelie cause it got crappy when trying to race and wheelie and couldnt steer and wreck out the rest of the trucks. But all in all I give this truck a 9/10
get the stampede ( pede ) you wont regret it a bit.
