Its in the new Rcnitro mag. Its supposed to have a .25 engine in it and 8-shock independent suspension and reverse. They say its over 1 1/2 feet wide! So what do u guys think of this monster.

Looks about like the Thunder Quake to me.
They'll need to put a 3-speed in it, so it'll get up and go.
7-inch diameter tires, fully enclosed electronics.

You can see it in the April issue of RC Nitro. It does look a lot like a thunder quake, I thought Hot Bodies was a division of HPI

I don't think HB is part of HPI like Pontiac is part of GM, but they do work together pretty closely.

No, I called HPI and they definitly own Hot bodies.

Makes sense: It's HB's 1/8th scale buggy with new arms and wheels/tires.

That isn't HB's Lightning Chassis, It looks very like a Duratrax TQ Chassis....

Considering how badly the Thunder Quake flopped, one would think they need to get rid of the parts somehow :D
Of course, that is the same theory as the the EK4. What do you do with slow selling EB4 buggy/parts, and a megaflop Raptor helicopter engine known as the pro .70. :D :D

This could be a sweet truck. In my opinion we still don't have a flat pan quality truck that can handle the super hot .21 engines right out of the box. If this thing is bulletproof, is geared right and has a good suspension which it appears to have, then it could succeed where all the others have been plagued with glitches.
Simply put, make a hybrid type truck that's RTR, bulletproof, geared right and has a 2 speed and I think it will sell.

Good point, however, if it is a rebadged and massaged Thunder Quake will it sell? What was tha main problems with the TQ anyway, all I have heard is 'it sucks' with no reasons given. Tell all please!

To me all the thunderquakes I had experience with were rather lethargic for a big block and the diffs were weak in my opinion. Just not a very solid platform for upgrades.

ive seen the thunderquake run. it handled mid size jumps
pretty well. but the guy said he was on his third set of
steel gears at $30 a pop. other than that its geared way
to high wich makes it somewhat sluggish on take off.
imo i would say if it were priced at $300/350 ish it might
be considered. but $500 is a little pricey.

Its easy to figure out where they got the idea from. Also, there are only a few actual manufacturers out there, so no doubt this new truck has some shared parts with the TQ. Bottom line is everyone loved the idea of the TQ, but found weak spots. Maybe Hotbodies massaged the TQ, and just made it better. No doubt it will sell better under the Hotbodies name than Duratrax.
Quick poll, is Duratrax really as bad as people say it is?
