Hi,

I bought a DuraTrax AC/DC Piranha Digital Peak Charger to charge my recv./trans batteries. First I use it to charge my "rayvoc" 1800mAh trans. batteries at 800mA for 30 minutes and the battery was burning hot when the peak charge was over. Then it charged my 1000mAh recv. battery at 800mA for only 10 minutes before it reach peak. My recv. battery lst for only like 1 hours with both servos idled before it reach below 6V. All batteries are brand new NiMH. It just doesn't make sense. I wonder if I bought a useless charger. Maybe I didn't set delta voltage right?

Anyway idea?

Thanks!

what was the charge rate? it's supposed to be below 1.0 amps for transmitter and receiver batteries

Yep I did the same with my 5-cell hump, let my MRC 959 do it's "plug and play" thing where it supposedly picks the right charge rate after testing the battery. It didn't. When I checked the battery it was hot to the touch and of course, it was toast. Once Nimhs get more than a little warm then they are being damaged. Definately charge at less than 2 amps and probably 1 or less. Expensive lesson for me.
