I'm not really sure what you want. The people on this board are great and have helped me alot, but you need to supply some specifics!
What you told us is that you want to build a jet, because that's where you posted it. That it should be 8 inches long with a 10 inch wingspan and scratch built out of foam! You seem to have no idea what motor, electronics, battery etc. to use.
No offense, but your post makes me 99.9% sure you are a NEWBIE. As a newcomer to the sport either buy a kit or else sit on your hands for a year while reading MicroFlight and Backyard Flyer. I say that because I want you to be successfull not someone turned-off and out a few hundred for nothing.
If you MUST scratch build a foamie go to foamfly.com for ideas.
If you MUST have a jet, my personal favorite is the Electrajet by E-flight. Tape it up well with strapping tape on the fuselage and leading edges. Coat it with a water based polymer. Follow stock instructions.
If you want success go buy a Tiger Moth. Try the Tiger Moth with stock instructions and a 9.6V, 150mah NI-Cad before modifying the heck out if it. Oh, I would put a little extra epoxy on the wing joints and tape the leading edge with 1" strapping tape.
Good-luck
