Thank you Steve!!!
I'm going to race a CEN ST1 truck which is the 2wd version of CEN's nitro stadium truck line. Has anyone tried different setups on this truck or the ST2? (4wd version)
Anyway, I've been doing some mods to the 2wd version if anyone is interested..... the link is in my profile. I'm about done the second half of the mods but I don't have the pics up on the site yet.
Here's a direct link, let me know what you think. (http://ccsnetworking.com/catchinhell2/CEN%20trucks.htm)

Jamedup: Could you please give me the wheelbase dimension; and the track dimension (hub hex to hub hex) of your CEN truck?
Thank you! :)

That looks very good. I am sure our Stadium truck is very competitive. Our own racers will attend Nitro shootout, Roar, Norca...etc for the first time as well. By the way, might be just me but i feel that ST looks so "naked" w/o the upper deck and radio box. :)

Spec and info can be found on our website below.

Thank you for the link CEN Racing. :)
I still need to know the width of the track. Or more specifically, for my purpose, how wide is the Rally car body (Subaru, for example)?

old phart,
Hopefully CENracing can give you the dimensions on the rally bodies. I just have the stadium trucks as of now.
CENracing,
I just did a quick update on my site, see what you think now.
btw..... It doesn't look like I'm getting any setup time on this truck for at least 2 more weeks. :( Racing starts April 5th so I'll be going into this season blind unless your drivers can give me some shock and link setups. I think I can set it up to handle well with-in a few races..... my main concern is finding a pitman that can find my fuel tank. :D

Is this the truck which is based oin the fun factor chassis I am only asking as I am thinking of buying a Citroen Xsara on the same chassis and want to find you if it is any good...

Yes, that is a Fun Factor chassis. It's a rigid chassis, almost overkill. As much support as I cut off of it, it's still very rigid.
As far as the rest of the truck, I'm not sure what I was expecting but seeing the RC10-GT's and XXXNT's everyday, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised....... and the 4wd version is killer!! It brought back that ear to ear grin I once had when I first got into the hobby many years ago. :D
I see you have a collection of R/Cs yourslf.

Is it on the pace in the pure speed comparison with its rivals. What class of racing does this qualify for, Superten?
Question is do I want the Monster Truck 2 or Citroen Xsara? Hmmmmmmmmmm

I got a stock CEN ST2. I am a team-mate with JamedUp so I've seen his 2 trucks. He is really turning his ST1 into a stadium racer. Low and lean. He convinced me to try a CEN so I ended up with an ST2.
This is my first 4WD so any tips on set up and maintenance of 4WD in general would cool. I'm running on a hard packed track this summer. I'm gonna start with Holeshots on all 4 corners and 40-50wt in the shocks. Are there different spring rates available from CEN for the ST shocks?
The weather has been sucking hard around here so I haven't been able to run the truck yet. Haven't seen the grass here since January

As far as straight out speed, I think the ST1 (2wd) seems to be faster. I know I'm going to go down a tooth (or two) on the ST1.
I don't need to go 40mph on a race track. :p
I haven't had the ST2 (4wd/2 speed) topped out yet. I'm an offroader thru and thru so I wasn't used to driving them as fast as the ST2 will go. I'm planning on running a real low first gear and normal 35mph kind of second gear on the race track. That's if they let us race with 2 speeds. :(
Where we race at, one track made a 1/10th 4wd stadium truck class for us and we're limited to small block engines. The other track I gather it will just be a 1/10 4wd class.
I'm dying to try the CEN boats now!!!!! :D
Stewy, ya wanna start a boat track this summer.

Hi I noticed the stadium truck and the Rally have different gear ratios
Rally 10.364 - 8.805
S.T. 11.104 - 8.561
Does this mean one will be faster than the other - if so which one?
Also some of the cars are shown with narrow front tyres do you know which ones arn't?
CEN Racing
02-26-2003, 12:35 PM
Jimmy33
Both ST2 and Rally will be able to hit 45mph out of box. Gearing wise, ST2 have more top end while Rally have more low end, however, thats not include size of tires. So that kind of equal it out.
The pic on the website is wrong. Thank you for pointing that out. I will get them change today. The ST with narrower tire is the 2wd. The ST with 4 equal size tires is the 4wd.

does the rally have the 4 wheels the same size?
CEN Racing
02-26-2003, 01:04 PM
yes. 4wd ST, BG, and Rally have the 4 same size of tires. 2wd have slightly narrower front tire. I will get the website updates today.

That is an nice truck you have there now at it look like alot of hard work has gone into that! What wheels and tyres are you running on that - and what truck bodies can fit on the chassis as I am not too keen on the standard one and I like to paint my own? Great looking truck though! :D

the idea of a 4 wheel drive stadium truck does sound good but I would have to lower mine quite a bit like yours!
The choises now are
The misubishi
The Citroen
The Stadium truck
I have discounted the MT as it is too impractical and I am thinking of getting a kyosho mad force. Ohh the choises

Thank you Jimmy33,
It really wasn't hard work, just time consuming. I like to think of it as a lot of love into the truck instead of a lot of work. :) I spent more time then needed because I stopped to take pictures as well as cleaning my bench every day due to my nephew building a kicker box and my other projects.
Everything is CEN on the truck except the Associated fuel tank and Losi NT pipe and of cource the Proline Holeshots rear tires, oh... and the dreaded Hitec servos. :( (The HS here doesn't carry high end servos) Those servos aren't staying on the truck come race season. Besides the pipe and tank, the stuff I did didn't cost me a dime because I used the pieces I removed to make the other mods.
Just by eyeballing, the body for the RC10-GT will fit the truck and since I don't have my Losi NT with me I couldn't size it up but my guess is it will fit as well. CEN does sell unpainted bodies so don't let that deter you. Personally, I like the purple/blue colored CEN body but I've always raced with a pinkish body (said red on the bottle)... so I'm obligated to race a pinkish (said red on the bottle) truck. :p
Sorry guys, I try to keep my posts short and simple but it never turns out that way.
And thanks again, the test will be on the race track.

Do the cars use the standard hex nut to get drive to the wheels, because the Mitsubishi looks a bit wrong with the standard wheels? For exmaple are the wheels on the Schlesser buggy taller, at they look much more in scale?

I like the staduim trucks because you can run them in the dirt or on the road. I've never been a fan of on road or monster trucks but these can be easily changed to a rally/buggy/monster truck. I have an old HPI RS4 collecting dust because on road was very boring to me. Lowering a stadium truck is very easy to do and the beauty of it is... you can raise them back up just as easily too.
Only you can decide what you want to buy. I know it's hard to choose with all the deferent brands, models, and their claims that are out there now.

I'll have to let CENracing answer most of your question but I can tell you that they do use the standard hex nut. I've used Traxxas rims on it and I've removed the hex nut and used Associated GT rims on them too. Losi NT rims will not work on them.

It just occurred to me that by you saying "lowered," you might mean the body lowered to the chassis. The body posts on these trucks are adjustable and that's what I did, I lowered it a good inch from the out of the box setting just by 4 little screws.
I thought you meant lowered the chassis to the ground. That can be simply done by adding the desirable amount of spacers under the shock pistons.

Well,we have advance technoogy others cant a hold of. Our engine are especially design to run on unleaded gasoline instead of nitro fuel and you can 50 miles each gallon. :) Seriously, Just updated the website over the weekend on rush. Sorry i will get it fixed today. Yeah, it supposed to be 50mph.
We use same size tire on all rally include Pajero, Citreon, WRX, Mini..etc. Even though Mitsucishi is bigger in real size but it is still a rally car. Another reason is because the body is so big that bigger tire will rub on the body.

That depends on the track that you race at. I bet if you reguested a 4wd class then you'd find out that many people have or will race 4wd ST. Some tracks let you run with the 2wd STs since the 2wd STs are faster.

Yes but 4wds are a bit heavier and there's more moving parts...... more things that can go wrong.
I don't think anyone wants to tell you what to buy, that's totally your decision, but I'll answer any question I know the answer too.

I received my CEN Subaru WRC Rally car body today. It is exactly what I was hoping for. It will be perfect for my project and will need only the slightest trimming around the rear wheel well to fit. :)

im now looking at gettin the monster truck 2,

and is the on road tr4 a better buy for the money?

Nitro~Freek!!!
Our Monster Truck 2, MT2, will do 45mph stock easily. Street price is around $290 to $300 RTR. Maintain will be like any other RC car.
The TR-4 is a on-road sedan so its kinda hard to compare a on-road to a off-road monster truck. It all depend on what you looking for.

I dont know the price in UK because we only represent CEN USA. But i think it will be in the similar range, around 280 in Uk.
On-road - street use only, aviod dirts and jumping. Generally faster while more aftermarket support and more track allow on-road.
Off-road- street and offroad use. Bigger in size. Can handle jumping...etc.
Thats all i can think off right now. :D
Jimmy33
03-06-2003, 01:52 PM
from my Irvine book, I found the price to be £300 for the ready to run and £279.99 for the TR4 and Citroen Xsara - which could he here sonner than orginally stated acording my my LHS guy

Ken, empty your PM box dude. :p I have some questions for ya.
I'm headed down south tomorrow (Sunday) to test the ST1 against NT's and a few hot GT's on a backyard track. I guess I'll take the ST2 with me too in case they try to beat up on me. hehe
Beautiful day for running today but I was stuck helping to build a race track all day, it's going to be a nice one though.
btw... I heard that the CEN MT2 qualified 3rd and 5th at the Sidewinder Off Road Shootout in the Unlimited Monster Truck class.
If you heard..... is it true that they were stock?
Nitro~Freek!!!,
Sorry I don't know, I've never seen a Duratrax Overdrive ST in person.
But I can tell you that the ST2 is a blast to beat up on. :D With the crappy winter we had, that's about all I can tell ya till I get a couple more gallons thru the truck.

CENracing,
My modified ST1 did "ok" against the GTs and NTs, but the real racing comes April 5th and 6th. ;)
I ran my GT after awhile and was RIPPING fast then all of a sudden I had a truck pushing on my tail for like 5 laps. I actually pulled over to see who and what it was...... It was my buddy with his ST2. For his first time out with a 4wd he was smoking fast and I can't believe he was right on my tail the whole time while I was driving my race GT as hooked up and fast as it is.
I think the ST2 is a hit, bro!!!!

I didnt know the mail box can only hold less than 20 mails Anyways, i clear it already.
Yeah, Its true about the Sidewinder offroad explosion race. I was there. We finished 2nd and 7th in the T-max monster truck class ( i think thats what they call it). Full detail will be on RCCA and RC CAR, i think. RC Car is there but i didnt see RCCA. I know we fill out the sponser sheets for these two magazines so i guess they going to write a article about it, (otherwise, why bother ask what we use and take picture). It is funny that the some audiences were making fun of our truck (well, we using "almost" stock car against extreme hopups trucks with Novasossi racing engine) before the race. After the race, they were looking through magazines for our ad and asking us for information.
The MT2 is "almost stock". "alomst" because We have to buy a Losi fuel tank :) after the qualify ( using the stock 75cc during qualify) because our tank is too small and we have to pit at least twice more than others each race. One driver take off the standard 2 speed and one driver is using our new design tuned pipe that wasnt release yet. Other than that, its about stock.
CEN engine, stock CEN shocks, stock CEN transmissions, stock CEN wheel and tire, everything on it is CEN except servos and receivers, and the big fuel tank.
ST2 have insame grips and power. You just can't beat the control of 4WD. Too bad there isnt a big race for 4wd Stadium trucks like the 2wd ones. otherwise, we will be there.

hello,
i'm new to this game and currently have a duratrax maximum mt pro. I have noticed from the pictures that the cen mt's look very, very similar. Do they share similar parts?
I was wondering if the aluminium shock towers would fit my maximum as the chassis look near identical.
who does cen cars in the uk, or who sells them on the net from the US and would post to the uk?
CEN Racing
03-22-2003, 05:00 PM
You can find our UK exclusive agent and its dealer here. I suggest not to buy from US and ship to UK. Shipping alone will cost you lots of unnecessary money and waitting time.
http://www.cenracing.com/dealers/wwdistributors.html
As far as i know, our MT does not share any parts with duratrax maximum mt pro. Our MT is design and built in our own facilities. So i would guess it wont fit.
Our MT shares some parts with all the Fun factors models. Thats why you can convert between Fun Factor MT, ST, Rally, ATX, and Buggy.

Hey,
So, I am looking for a new monster and the MT2 has caught my attention. Can it hits 45+ like I've heard? And can it take good jumps like at a park? I hear it is good competition for the T-Maxx. I am bored with my Super Maxx, and I think I want this.
Thanks
CEN Racing
03-23-2003, 01:31 AM
It will hit 45mph. Actually, it will do over 45mph in the right hand. But even a fresh newbie should have no problem getting it to do 45mph since we include a nitro hand book with everyone of our nitro cars.
Wild hobbies has a review for our ATX. Which is based on the same chassis as the MT2. Only difference is the gearing and tire. ATX is hitting 43mph already and MT2 have higher gearing. So 45mph is piece of cake.
FYI, we just ran a almost complete stock MT2 and win 2nd and 7th in monster truck class @ sidewinder nitro explosion. "WITH ALL CEN PARTS." well, except servo and receiver.

Because me and my m8 are both changin our cars and he's gettin a GV Rex-x with a .21 froce engine, i was going to get it also but the cen MT2 has pulled me in.
I heard 1/8th buggies could top about 50mph, so i dont think i'd have trouble keeping up even if the buggy has better acceleration.

Thanks CEN Racing!! ;)
Just on the message boards on this site (http://www.familyhobbiesraceway.com/) and my name in the track record section and I'm sure in the track news and race resaults that's soon to come. I could have ran faster but I was playing around waiting for the HPI's to catch up for someone to race. I actually stopped and waited a few times even. My buddy Stewy just had one of those days. I felt bad for him cause I've been there before and it takes all the fun out of racing.
The big joke was the guys calling them the "Toys R Us" trucks!!
Who's laughing now? (besides me)
On the other hand....
The ST1's (2wd) MT.12 engine was toast and never make it to a qualifier and I couldn't get my radio from impound to setup the throttle linkage on the CEN .12 I installed in between rounds, so it didn't see any racing action.
My GT goes everywhere with me so I had no choice but to run it or loose my entry fee so...... anyway, I qualified 5th and finished 3rd in the A-main with it.
Hopefully I'll have a piston and sleeve for the MT.12 next week or I'll run the CEN.12!! Either way, I need setup time for that truck, I'm playing catch up as it is with the modified ST1. Those guys are just way to fast to play games this soon in the season.

Cool. Seems like you had a good weekend. Sorry about your buddy Stewy. So is this a series race? April until Oct. is a long time.
Toys R Us" trucks
I heard a lot of those at 2003 SideWinder Nitro Explosion at Sagus. And those people are just avioding us after the race as our stock MT2 beating other heavy moded trucks and took 2nd and 7th in A-main.
Our factory boys will be compete in Speedline Grand Prix starting tomorrow with our new nitro race kit CT-4 R (info is at the new and hot product forum) as a warm up for Roar and others big events. I am sure they will do well.

Yes, it's a series race but I don't think I'm going to race for points this year. I was hoping to skip some series races to save some money and travel to some of the bigger races, if ROAR ever get's their act together and reconizes the need for some type of 4wd nitro truck class.... unless ROAR has and I just over looked it. (that's very possible)
Anyway, there's like 4 big ROAR and State races that I want to hit and a couple (conflicting) events like 5 hours away that I'd love to go to. I may be devoriced and bankrupt by the time I get back but I'd love to race them all!!! LOL
btw.... The guys at Vineland are GOOD and if you can run with them, you can run with about anyone. Vineland draws many top notch racers from like 4 states weekly. Vineland NJ. was the host to the first ROAR national event in 1984, if that tells ya anything.
I had a guy record the races with my camcorder but he got more video of feet, trees, sky, close-ups of dirt, etc. then he did the racing. :( (Total loss)
Good luck at the Speedline Grand Prix and keep me posted how they do.
P.S....... I heard something about a high torque servo CEN is testing, do you know anything about that?

I checked few weeks ago when we deciding our quarterly racing schedule and 4wd wasnt available. I surely hope Roar can realize the market of 4wd real soon. Damn, our facotry guys here is itching but no big national events open 4WD class.
We just done testing our new hi-torque servos. It will be available shortly as a standard feature on all Fun Factor. So..yeah... we will include hi-torque servo as standard item

I'd like to have tested a servo or 2 for ya. ;)
Anyway, one track here that will be hosting 2 or 3 big ROAR races that I will be attending, they have a 4wd ST and MT class classified as a demo class. I doubt it will see the ROAR news or any magizines but it's a start. Time to make some noise on the Starting Grid boards!!!!!!!

Yes, it is a trophy race.
From what I gather, since it's a ROAR race and ROAR doesn't reconize any 4wd gas truck classes that he must have to call it a demostration class.
That's just my guess, but I'll try to get the man on here himself to explain it.
It will be for a trophy and bragging rights. I must add that Pasadena gives out some of the best trophies that I've won yet.
MadMarko

Everyone is correct so far
Provided we get at least 3 entries we will run a class
So far Pasadena will be running the Maxx class at the Regional and the MD State race (These races will appear in the next issue of REV-UP). We will also be running a Maxx And Modified Maxx at the Trinity Gas Challenge (non-ROAR Trinity Race where they defined the classes). If all goes well we will also run them at the Finale.
The Pasadena Track is getting a lot of attention as a good racing venue and already draw some past and present National racers.
I have not set up the 1/10th 4wd class since it was a bust last season. Everyone wanted it but only 2 drivers showed up all season.
PROMOTE IT BETTER
GET ME 3 RACERS AND IT WILL BE RUN AT THE MD STATE AND FINALE
I have a TR15 myself that I would love to race if we get more entries.
MadMarko
04-08-2003, 06:54 AM
DOH
Demo class is a class not recognized but acceptable to ROAR. If it was not acceptable they would not allow it to be run at a level 3 or level 2 race(Regional or State Championship). As far as I am aware they have been pondering these classes but with the various degrees of modification done to each it is making it hard to narrow it down and may preclude many from being able to compete. The manufacturers really need to come up with some sort of consistant pattern or design criteria. It will benefit their cause greatly.

MT2 can take several different engine. We have tried .18 and a big block 15. Rear exhaust might have some problem getting a manifold to work since you will need a manifold with 2 U shape bend.
The MT2 wheel is the standard 2.2 wheel so any 2.2 tire fits but increase tire size by big margin will affect accleration.

Not true! :D ROAR recognizes both electric and nitro 4WD stadium trucks. Check the specs pages of the rule book and you'll see official minimum weight requirements for nitro and electric 4WD stadium trucks. I know there also has to be a certain number of entries before they're obligated to make it an official class at a given event, but I know this much, 4WD trucks are in the rule book.

You're right as usual Steve. And I did, I overlooked it.
Looks like I need to loose the CEN .16 and put in my Mugen .12 to be ROAR legal. Can you tell me if I'd still be legal if I locked out the stock 2 speed or will I have to remove it altogether?
During the club races, we can run any small block engine and they allow me to lock out the 2 speed, but it might be different during the Trinity and ROAR races. It really doesn't make any difference to me either way, I just hate to wrench on anything anymore.

Are the Cen's Monster truck's tires a hard compound to where they won't hook up good, especially on pavement. I'm looking to get a set for another truck, because as far as 2.2's, they're big. I know for instance, the Duratrax Maximum MT's tires aren't 2.2, plus they are hard and don't hook up well, so I thought maybe the Cen truck tires might not be so hard.
Anyone here have any experience with them? Thanks!

Jamedup
04-22-2003, 08:42 AM
LOL, no Mr. Racing..... It was a double with a S turn right after. I try to land a bit heavy on the right front to get the weight on the front wheels as quickly as possible. Actually the truck is between the jumps and close to landing on the back side of the second jump. At the point where the truck is now, I give it about half throttle to get the rear wheels caught up with the trucks speed which brings the back down a tad and the engine ready to get on the pipe.
In other words, the front suspension will be loaded and ready to turn sharply in any direction I desire and the engine is just about in it's sweet spot. Looks funky but very affective.

It will not be a challenging experiment if we try it on 1/8 buggy because it was design to take a .21 and higher. So no fun in doing a .21 conversion on the buggy.

I think it'll be the ware factor more than a breakage thing depending on where an how ya drive it. Assuming everything is shimmed perfect and your running hard off road, I'd say........ you're going to break the left rear axle within 1/2 gallon or twist the dog bone between the front and rear diffs.
One thing is a given, you're going to go thru many bodies.:D

ok i guess i have three questions sorry, lol from whati have just read above a .21 will bolt in?

1. yes we successful bolt a .21 into it without any major mods. You just need motor mount, & a .21 manifold. Our project Car will be showing at RCX. You do need to reset the throttle linkage after install the .21
But just give you a idea, all of our CVS are re-designed (few monthes ago). And it is using 1/8 scale buggy material instead of 1/10 truck now so you should have no problem because the CVS are made to handle 1/8 buggy, except shorter.
The other questions, i will leave it to the CEN car owners because i think you dont want to hear from me anyway, because i worked for manufacture.

The design had been made several monthes ago so all the trucks now in our warehouse are the newer versoin. And I am 99% sure you will not be able to find a older one in your LHS even thoug you try to. Unless you can find a shop that had the car in there for more than couple monthes which is not likely to happen.

I only have a couple gallons or so thru my ST2 and the 2-speed works and has held up great so far. I got a little crazy one practice day and broke the clutch bell which in turn tried to strip the spur gears while I drove it back to myself..... but after a quick file to the spurs and a new clutch bell, I was back under way and driving it hard...... still.
I've only had one stone get into the spur gears but it didn't cause any damage even though it stopped the spur at about half throttle and going like 15mph. It only got in because I was practicing with a couple of friends without the body on and they kicked up the stone.
What I'm trying to say is..... "from what I can tell, the spur gears are pretty hardcore."
I can't say enough about the ST2, it sure has brought joy back into RC for me.

I didn't have time to get the mesh right so I ended up stripping the new one too. To much traction on the track to put the power down without everything perfect.

It's not going to break easy, at least I don't think so. Before I started racing the ST2, I beat the crap out of it to see what I could get away with but I only wasted a stock servo and a CVD or 2. If you run it into a block wall or something it will break somewhere but it's not going to break any more then the next brand. Actually, it's a little tougher then some other brands I've raced.
I really like the ST2 or maybe it's 4wd in general, I think you'll have fun with it. The engine might be a bear to get broke-in but once you get past break-in, it starts easily.

tripplefatty,
An engine with a cut shaft isn't a bolt in but with a litte bit of playing around, you "might" be able to make it work.
I believe all your shocks are the same length.

Thanks.
I don't know much about that 2wd buggy but if I had to guess, I'd say it would probably hit at least 30mph. I'd suggest going with the 4wd buggy if you can swing it. I believe it comes stock with a 2 speed and that will pull it up to speeds that I'd be a bit unconfortable driving it at.
CEN Racing will be able to tell you more, in detail.
Ken, what is the differance between the ATX and the Buggy2?
CEN Racing
05-18-2003, 01:08 PM
The BG1 is available in both 2wd and 4wd. 2WD version will do around 30-35mph. The BG2 4WD will do about 40mph and it is only available in 4WD.
The ATX is a larger size buggy compare to BG2. Its a stadium truck chassis with buggy body on it. Top speed is around 45mph. Only available in 4WD. And All CEN 4WD model comes with standard 2 speed.
Thank you for your answer. It's great getting the information straight from a company rep!
One thing that you didn't answer, however, was other major on-line retailers that carry CEN. I would like to do some price shopping.
Forgive me, but if I might offer a little friendly critique; I found the CEN site either lacked detailed information on each model or it was hard to find. Perhaps the CEN site could be modified so that detailed information could easily be found on each model. That would be helpful.
No flame, just an observation by an interested consumer.
Thanks again.

We ran a stock MT2 with an old old O.S. .21 engine in Proline MAXX challenge running again Mugen 1/8 buggy conversion and JT maxx...etc and end up in upper B main. Not bad for a stock setup truck, we just drop a .21 engine into MT2 along with a bigger fuel tank the day before the race.

Visit our website for spec. Look under Fun Factor off road. Even though the main picture is MT, the feature list and pic apply to all 4WD Fun Factor because they have the same chassis.
Check out dealer section on our website to see if any hobby shop carry the parts or just order from where you plan to purchase the car from.

CEN with the MT2 can I bolt in my Pull start OS .21 RG engine? :)
Also do you know what other bodies shells I can fit as I do have a soft spot for the kyosho dodge ram shell (would buy the kit but this seems better speced and cheaper! :D )
Also what wheels and tyres can I fit on to the truck - does it take the standard hex adaptor - sorry lots of questions again!
CEN Racing
06-03-2003, 12:53 PM
Yes O.S. 21 will bolt on. Just gets the motor mount and motor plate. You do also need to reverse the carb.
MT2 have 2.2 wheel with standard hex.
We never try the kyosho body but it should fits.
379:
The feature list apply to 2wd. Just minus the stone filter fuel tank, CVS, 2 speed. So the picture will apply as well other than you wont see the parts i list above. Sorry kind of busy and havent have a chance to update it.
The spec chart is the same between 4wd and 2wd.

88x28mm- Front
88x42mm - Rear
TR-4 will top out about 50mph. It certainly is not the fastest but its Not bad for a $270~$280 car. I remember NItro magazines had it go close to 50mph. OUr CT-4 S will do 70mph but its in different class.

We wont have the .21 motor mount until we have the engine finished. So you wont find it in our catalog. We didnt use ours in the test truck. Any .21 motor mount should have no problem getting into it. Just kind of measure when you purchase it.
CT4 will be available in US starting next month. Street estamate price is right around $300. Including CentriForce clutch, carry hand bag, a race tuned pipe.

I believe 8th scale buggy rim and tire will fit as long as you can find one that use standard hex adaptor. About the engine, I would suggest get a .21 instead of that. NOt saying its bad or anyting but we had never tried that combination so i will not be able to tell you the performance. But i am sure a .21 rally wont disappoint you.
CEN DO NOT make your own engine!!!!!!
rusty89:
No faith in us? :D
But its too late, we already did. Trust me, Its so good that we alreayd had other manufacture contact us for the engine. Just wait and see our .21 win a big race.
Jimmy33 and others:
Sorry i made a mistake again. The CT4 R kit is the one available with hand bag, centri force for $300. CT4 S RTR will be around $320-340 and without hand bag and centri force clutch.

i mainly want the tamed top end and wild low end that motor will give me but might as well pick up a .21 anyways seen as my lhs dont carry the 4stroke and i wont have any grip problems with the 8th scale buggy tires ill put on it when the stock tires wear down to slicks since the buggy tires and rims are built for .21 engines as long as i can do some nice donuts ill be happy

Cen,
Hobby Warehouse
7120 Chicago Ave.
Richfield, MN 55423
612-861-5587
they are listed as one of your retailers, i shop there quite often and i haven't seen one of your trucks there, im really interested in your ATX buggy, is there anyway of knowing if this hobby shop still orders from you? Also, is you're new .21 a direct fit for this chassis?
CEN Racing
06-19-2003, 12:20 PM
well, if you dont see it there and they will not order for you (apparetnely, i dont see why they wont order it for you), i guess please shop somewhere else. Our link section also have a few online stores you can choose from.
Any .21 will bolt into ATX. Sometimes you need to reverse the carb. and you definitely need to reset throttle linkage.
Parts required for .21 conversion will be motor mount and motor plate. You can just enlarge the holes on the motor plate and save cash. But you difinitely need to buy .21 motor mounts.

Are the Fun factor ST-2 4wd stadium trucks worth investing in?? I am thinking about buying another truck to bash with and i currently have a t-maxx.....but i want to by a no-hassle truck that i can just start and go....no tuning problems all the time......is this truck realiable in that way?? I don't expecially like tuning all the time and it really discourages me from running my truck......please give me your opinion of this truck....thanx!:D
I also have another question.....is the new mini cooper rally car (NOT the touring car) the same chassis and length?? what is the difference between it and the stadium truck and the buggy (the one with the same wheels as the 4wd stadium truck)
is it just the bodys and tires?? if so does that mean i could eaisly convert between all of them?? because they all look good to me......and i like the idea of a 1/10 scale nitro buggy i think it looks cool.........
sorry for all the questions......but i'd really appriciate it if they were answered....thanx!!:D

06-25-2003, 12:12 AM
Figit090,
I can answer the ST-2 question. I REALLY REALLY like the truck, it's a total blast and a joy to run. If there is tuning problems then I haven't experianced it yet after close to 4 gallons. Mine's pretty much start it up and run. The servos could be better but they aren't any worse then any other RTR brand servos. I have 4 RC10-GTs, 1 Losi XXXNT, 2 Traxxas Nitro Rustlers, and a bunch more flavors of RCs, but the GT and the ST2 are the trucks I run on a regular basis. I just turned my ST2 into a MT2 and that truck is a blast as well. It's a fairly cheap and easy to convert it to a MT and back again if you want. I'm not much into monster trucks but that puppy flys nice and level and still has some get up and go. (yes, I've launched it good a few times :) )
I'd love to install a .21 on it but I'm racing the ST2 and .21 engines aren't allowed. I don't mind swaping tires and clutch bells to go between a ST and MT, but I'm not changing engines too.
Hope this helps,
Marty

The stadium-buggy hybrid is called ATX. Difference between Rally and ST chassis will be clutch bell, suspension, arms, shafts, wheel/tire. Everything else stay the same.

Now, before I buy the MT2, I hear there are radio problems. bad range I believe. Is it the transmitter or the reciever?

We had a batch of MT2 that had unproper solder chip. Some of them does have short range due to the incorrect chip. All of them are fixed now. If you receive one of the older batch, we will warrenty the radio without any hassel.
CenRacing- Can u accidentally let the 1/8th mt's price slip out?
We have no idea in mind at this time because truck is not complete yet. But as usual, it will have a lot more outstanding features and functions while cost less like how all of our lines are.

Got my second MT2 the other day. My second one had some 2 speed issues but it seems cen racing is taking care of that. But all the issues that I experienced with my first one seem to have repeated with the second. No major issues but a couple minor. One issue I can't seem to figure out is why the brake is so damn finicky. When it was brand new and I used the brake a couple of times it stuck and the brakes stayed engaged for a few seconds. I ended up moving the linkage a bit and it seemsed to help a little. Then my brakes were working excellent. Today a I take the truck out and I had almost no brakes. I drove around for a while and then all of a sudden the brakes were working good. Go figure strange. One day I'll have to take it apart and see how it works.
Odd thing though. After breaking in my second MT2 it seemed it was faster than the first by a pretty good margin. I bought a CEN cooling head and through it on the first truck. Funny thing though, upon instalation and truck engine warm up. I noticed the truck was running hotter than before the head. I was running on a very hot day but usually when it's hot outside you have to lean it out or it runs richer. I ran it a few days before when it was hot also. THe truck didn't seem any faster but actually a bit slower:eek: , I ahd it running at about 260-270 too. Wierd eh. I sis notice that the temps do come down much faster than with the stock head though. We'll see how it runs as I use it more.
I was planning on putting a .21 in the 2nd truck but I wanted to break it in to see which one was faster first. We'll see how it goes. My radio range has been pretty darn good so far, but I have noticed on both my controllers when Ifirst put the batteries in I had no power on both kits. After playing with the batteries a bit it started to work. By the time break in was done it seemed to be ok. I've gone about 250 feet away so far.

 it got HOTTER with the alluminum heat sink?? odd....did you say it cools off quicker though?? (what do you mean by the way when you say that...lol...cool off when richened or cool of when you run it and wind hits it??)

What I said was "usually when it's hot outside you have to lean it out or it runs richer" I meant if I take my truck on a cooler day and have a perfect tune and then take it ot on a hot day it will run real rich and require some tuning to get it right. Once I get my other truck up and running I'll try to do some more testing on this cooling head. From my experience with cooling heads this one has not been the best so far. I will though do some more testing. It does cool much faster it seams. But it also seems that it heats up faster. I run my truck in the grass alot and it usually heats up in the grass but not too bad. All of this is based on about 20 minutes of run time so don't hold me to it. But I will eventually do enough testing to determine if the cooling head was worth it.

Yeah, lots more info, and I love the engine section. It breaks every thing down about the engine. From how it work, to break-in, to rebuilding the pullstart

I was just reading the September issue of RCCA and on page 191 in the "3rd Anual Pro-Line Nitro Maxx Challenge" article it mentions that CEN racing made the Monster Mains. Congras to the driver Mike Walker and everyone else at CEN Racing for making a truck and having a driver that according to the article is able to "put the smack down" against "more than 40 other guys with highly modified trucks". This kind of news just makes me want one even more! Just one quesion; was it a STOCK Funfactor MT2? Again congrats to CEN and their wonderful truck

Cen Racing. You seem to have a nice product. Will it pop wheelies? I do like them. Debating TMaxx vs MT2? Any input on durability of this truck appreciated. Thanks

The MT2 we raced are always complete stock except fuel tank (our 75cc is too small for 1/8 scale track) and the tuned pipe (the stock one hace two outlet) and of course, our driver use whichever radio equipments they like the most. Other than that, its complete stock. From suspension to gearing, tires, engine...etc.
You can also check out RC Car magazine July issue. We have a whole page just for our drivers' excellent performance at Sidewinder NItro Explosion which we placed 2nd and 7th. AGAIN, WITH THE SAME ALMOST STOCK MT2

Saw you vids, It looks like it goes great. My son just bought a SportTrax and it seems to loft the wheels with ease. Running in grass. Wondered about the stock mt2? Cen Racing mentioned a new truck due to come out. Any ideas on this? Thanks

I sure hope the new one has t-maxx sized drive hexes...there are a lotta nice rims out there for the maxx...and i think it's the practical thig to do .......they'd get more sales..... actually i think they probably will have t-maxx hubs if they think the way other companys have been......
CENRacing- will the new truck have t-maxx size drive hexes?

No wheelies on the stock MT2. Even in the grass. Almost sometimes maybe one in a great while but not like the sportmaxx. I haven't seen the sprtmaxx but what makes the t-maxx do wheelies is the trans design. It's almost like dumping the clucth on a car. The sudden bam loft the front end. The MT2 is direct drive and doesn't have the bam. But put in a big motor and no prob on the wheelies.
