I'm having so much fun with the little Corsair, I just had to do another little bitty something. My friend, Jack Swaim suggested a Hurricane for its generous wing area. That was a good idea! Thanks Jack! Here are some specs...

Span 18.5 inches
Weight 40.2 grams
Power E-Charger M20 motor and 4.2/1 gears from Bob Selman
Prop little red plastic 4 inch thing from my junk prop box
Radio RFFS-100 and Selman STD actuators
Battery 230 LiPoly
Wings constant 1/8 thich hot wired under camber blue foam
Fuse 1/8 balsa
Tailfeathers 1/16 balsa sheet
Hinges Sewn figure 8s
Wheels Two 1/16 balsa circles glued cross-grain
Tires teeny weeny rubber bands
Paint Delta CeramCoat acrylic from Wal-Mart crafts

I used Bob Selman's standard actuators because I didn't have any of the new smaller ones on hand. WOAH! They are so strong, I had to turn my dual rates down to 30%.

Here's a picture...

The dihedral detracts from the scale appearance, but I prefer rudder over ailerons.

I guess I should make a 3-blade prop for it, now. :)

I had no photographer with me, so the flight photos aren't very good. Here, the plane is under the volleyball net shooting for the runway below (two white lines).

SR71fan,

Those are just too cool, and you always paint them up so nice.

I was able to get a little closer to the camera on this pass, but almost missed the shot.

sr71fan nice looking little warbird Im working on 1 to, an F8F-2, ive a couple questions on the wing. Have ya tried anything thinner than 1/8in and do ya use any spars or is the wing plenty strong. Ive been cutting some cors with the MA-409 foil but its hard for me to get nice rounded tips and figured id try this type foil.

The Hurricane flies about the same as the Corsair; perhaps a wee bit faster due to the increased weight. It handles great, though. :)

Robert,

I have not tried a thinner wing, since this is the way they are cut when I get them from Bob Selman (1/8 inch thick). There are no spars or bracing, as they are plenty strong. The Corsair has looped many times. The Hurricane will, too, I'm sure, I just didn't want to try it with the volleyball net up.

I built a Cessna 180 a while back using ribs and 1/32 balsa sheet for the wings, but no wire cut foam thinner than 1/8.

I'm anxious to see your Bearcat. Please post some photos when it's ready. :)
