Some kid came to the races last week with at least a 2 foot long antenna tube on his truck. It was so damn funny. It probably got good reception though.

It would be in a magazine: RCCA ran a picture of some idiots lighting a car on fire in the pits of some race. I heard it was the XXX Main guys, but I'm not sure. Whomever they were should have had their asses kicked out of the race and been blackballed from any other organized event.

:( Oh no!!! I would hate to see that! Poor car...
Stupidest thing had to be before I got into 1/8 scale, we had a 1/10 scale HPI Rush (believe it or not, it is still together in one piece)...we used to jump it off the roof of the house!!!
...man that thing took some abuse!!! Kept it maintained well though.

Heu maybe you guys know the tamiya super hornet. It was actually my first true R/C. One of my friend challenged me to jump the stairs. There were 13 steps of wood and an asphalte landing, I had about 10feet to take speedso I decided to go for it knowing I was to buy xxx-t in abouta week. I cleared the stairslanded right where I expected but the supsension was kind of so ****** that it bounced up on its back.

I jumped my old Falcon from the second story roof... Onto my driveway. I didn't make the gap to the grass. I guess it was stupid, but the only things that broke were the fender and the chassis, and that car was already pretty much shot (and crappy in the first place).
The dumbest thing I ever saw was at a dirt oval track. My friend was a novice (we were 12) and he turned his transmitter on in the pits without checking his frequency. There was a guy running his sweet $$$Intimidator on the same frequency, and it just went crazy and smashed into the wall and flew off of the track, which was steeply banked. His car flew about 20 feet and hit a wall going about thirty MPH! Ouch! My friend didn't even know what happenned, but I told him to put his stuff away fast. Honestly I felt bad for the guy who got his car smashed, but he was a notorious a-hole at the track, and I wasn't about to incriminate my friend. We didn't have any money to pay for the damage (the car was totally messed up). I gave my friend a different set of crystals becuase the old guy staked out the frequency clips looking for the culprit after he checked everyone's gear in the pits. My friend got so freaked out that he never went back to the track! The moral of the story... NEVER TURN ON YOUR TRANSMITTER IN THE PITS WITHOUT THE FREQUENCY CLIP.

Stupidest thing I've seen on a regular basis:
nitro rigs w/o a throttle return spring.
Stupidest thing I've witnessed:
A dude jump right in the middle of a BIG triple to marshal w/o looking for oncoming traffic. Bonk...instant Losi tattoo on the forehead, knocked out cold, and ended up lying on the car he was trying to marshal, breaking both shock towers, bending all the camber links, a dogbone, and warping both rear wheels. HEHE funny part was they never stopped the race cuz the director didn't notice, so there were trucks clearing the triple AND an unconscious marshal. He came to in about 15 seconds and continued to marshal the rest of the race!
Stupidest thing I've done:
Toss up between
1. Racing real cars on the street, weaving under them (this was about the time "The Dead Pool" came out... some paranoid fat woman called the police on me, but when the 5-0 showed up they just had a good laugh and lots of fun driving my car...just left and told me to keep it out of the street)
2. Running over my neighbor's cat w/ my Big Bear. She was watching, called the police, ended up in court over that one and got punished by the judge ordering me to take care of her yard all summer. The neighbor has given me a hard time ever since, throwing accusations to the city that I was running an auto repair business from my home (hey...we teen guys like to hang out and work on our cars!), calling the code compliance office when my grass gets a bit tall, calling animal control and getting my DOG arrested several times, and the ALL TIME pisser... reporting a '66 VW that I'd found in a barn and purchased/ towed home as a junk car/ eyesore. If you know anything about bugs you know what a treasure a rust free, all there, all original '66 is worth to us VW folks... Now, mind you, the car was in my drivewaY under a BIG blue tarp with nothing showing. With all the previous reports from this B the city ordered me to get rid of it in 14 days, so I made some calls and managed to get the $300 I gave for it... (ohh that was a sweet deal). To compond that, dammit, her husband has a '40 Ford with more rust than metal, sitting on flat tires in the driveway, hasn't been touched in 5 years(still there to this DAY!) but Mr Tyrone sumthinorother from the code compliance office says that's a classic with plans to be restored and my VW was just a piece of junk that needed to be hauled off and crushed...ooooooh    someone's playing favorites or is a personal friend or...
Ok I'll shut up now. Moral of the story is that one stupid thing I did many years ago has caused YEARS of strife. I could vent SO much anger about that old hag, but I'm sure y'all don't wanna hear me whine. I have a nice tall fence now and haven't laid eyes on her in three years or more.
Hmmm I think I'll go throw a flaming poo on her doorstep.

it seems to me that unless you are ready to deal with some more serious consequences the flaming poo idea may not be a good one
not a sermon just a thought
it really sucks how someone can do so much harm to another over something as silly as the cat incident which probably didnt even hurt the cat

Hey, man, I film every stupid thing I do, but the stupidest thing I have ever done was jump off my friend's 3 story house with an RS4 Rally. Not much was broken, just the shock ballstud, but the even dumber thing was that we didn't even film it.

actually, that's a technique used to warm up the tires..
not the safest way, but many times it works
but, they should have probably taken the tire and rim off the truck before dousing in motor spray and lighting it:rolleyes:
stupidest thing I've heard is that Electric is slow, and I should have gone with nitro:)

The stupidest thing ive ever seen with an RC.... LOL Well I was at my friends how and we were sk8boarding and riding bikes on his 4ft quarterpipe at the end of his driveway aganist the fence. His brother got bored and went inside. He came back outside with his E rustler and was screwing around, going up and doing weird turns on the quarterpipe. Then about 5 minutes later i hear it running WOT and turn around, he is FLYING torwards the quarterpipe. He nails the jump, (it has 6in of vert on it) and the truck shoots up into the air, over the fence and lands with a HUGE crack. Bascially he got about 15ft of air, going straight up and down with no landing. The stock ruslter chassis snapped in half!!! I later told him he could fix it with tape and CA and he tried it. He ended up dumping out the whole bottle of CA into the crack, which was right infront of the rear shock tower. He put it upside down and let it dry. Turns out when the glue dried, it had seaped into the car. The battery was glued to the chasis, shocks couldnt move because of the CA, the ESC and reciever were also glued and some of it got into the driveshafts, so they couldn't slide up and down. Bascialy it fixed the chassis, but destroyed everything else!!! lol He ended up trashing it and buy a new car with all new electronics because he couldn't get them off the chassis, except for the motor. LOL werid huh?

the stupidest things ive seen with r/c cars have come from the trilordy movies... for example filling a small orange cone with nitro setting it on fire and driving an on road car into it... tossing cars off of a hill on to the pavement :(

try this on for size!
some homies of mine got comptly drunk. then started driving there RC cars, (off road trucks and buggys). one guy didnt have his car and because he was so wasted. he ended up striping down to his BVD's, writing "t-maxx" (which is a car he dont even like!)on his chest and and went out in the street and started running after the trucks and buggys, yelling "im a traxxas!"
needless to say the cops were called and he was busted for indecent exposher, lood activity, and disturbing the peace.
when the cops showed up he introduced himself as "one of them crapy traxxas trucks". the cops got a kick out of it, as did the guys that didnt go running for cover when the cops showed up.
it was quit posibly the funnest 20 minutes iv ever seen!

I was at my friend's house one day and i threw my rc car off the top of a 5 story roof (my friend is very very rich). It landed in his neighbors swimming pool and he told me to get it before his neighbor finds out. So i got a lot of safeway plastic bags, glued them and jumped off the roof with it. It worked great as a parachute, but i ended up missing the swimming pool and i landed on my ankle, since the homemade parachute worked, i got home with just a spraigned ankle instead of me being dead.

That was the stupidest thing so far though you have to admit it, jumping five stories with safeway bags as a lifeline.

LOL driving over an unconscious turn marshall! lol
Dumbest thing I've seen on the track: Some guy last year at our track tried to make a ram air system in his car and had no filter for it. He was a horrible driver and his body would alway pop off and the RAM air duct would be dragged behind his car every race. I dont think he ever actually finished a race with his car in one piece.
Another small one: Some guy put 190mm aluminum arms on his nitro car, and 200mm on the rear and wondered why his car performed like crap on the track.
Dumbest thing I've ever seen in a magazine: All from R/C Car
Their Racer Writes columns from about 4 years ago. Nearly all the racers who wrote articles were borderline iliterate and talked about their girlfriends, parties, jumping rental cars. It made the drivings look like idiots instead of roll models.
A picture of a guy taking a leaf blower to a an offroad track to get rid of the dust. Um, it's an offroad track, dust is ok.

Stupidist thing I have done:It's a tie between firing up my inferno with the throttle at full, and the radio system off,and "test jumping" my inferno without any radio gear in it(Gave the car a "gentle" nudge with my foot onto the ramp, causing it to flip, and bend my nice shiny cooling head.
