Hello all,

I live in NYC and want to buy my husband a remote control sailboat as a gift. He is not currently involved in the sport AND we only have a small apartment so not much storage space.

Does anyone have a suggestions as to which boat to purchase? I was hoping to be able to spend $150 or less, but am not sure if that would get me anything decent. I can go up a little in price if the boat is worth it.

So these are the criteria for the gift:
price (under $200)
size - small enough to store in a small apartment and suitable for sailing in New York City Central Park - which is where we have access to
Model - anything that doesn't require too much assembly - we have no space and he is not that knowledgeable about these things. Also - I don't think he will be looking to race the boat. Not sure if this was important info.

I read a little about "class" numbers being important, but I know nothing about the sport, so this doesn't mean anything to me. I don't think he will race the boat, so is this a factor?

Is it possible to find such a gift that meets this criteria? Any help would be really appreciated!!

thanks for any help!

Tower also gives plenty of information about the products so you'll enjoy it I'm sure.

Also, order a copy of their TOWER TALK monthly flyer.

Look at the Climate Models Panache Mk.II

I know there is a fleet of them in your area. Easy to build, much better quality than the toy plastic boats.
It is also a proposed new AMYA class boat if your husband decides that he wants to race later.

Should be no problem to put one together with a radio for $200.
Free on line building and customer support as well.

Here is the Panache class webpage with specs.
