Just started the break in process...
1st tank (1/4 throttle for 2 sec) no problems
2nd tank (1/2 throttle for 2 sec) after about the 5th pass or so, the rpm wanted to stay up just for a sec or so when I let off, but then it would stall... not every time but wouldn't start right away ...maybe had to wait 2 min. I thought maybe a little lean, so I richend up approx 1/4 turn...no change...
Is this normal for a new motor? any thoughts????
Thanks

The key is the LSN. It works hand in hand with idle on this engine. I suggest you richen the LSN about 1/8 turn for starters and then play with your idle adjust. Remember that if it's cold where you are that you need to richen both needles (a little) to avoid running lean and over-heating.

When I had the same problem I called Traxxas they said to richen the LSN so I richened my LSN by a 1/4 turn and it does not stall anymore. Of course I did it 1/8 turn at a time. I am on the 12 tank now and it still requires me to play with both the HSN and LSN every time I have run. I believe this is because of their first Slide Carb and they set it for break in the rest is up to us to get it right.

Slides are great but are very touchy to adjust when first starting out with this style Carb. Glad I have the patience and the want to learn how to play with new things.

Good luck tuning it and you find its sweet spot before I do let me know ;)

well......
I richend the LSN a quarter turn and it seemed to run good. I ran through the break in tanks and left it a little rich to run for a while.
I brought it home and was showing my wife out in the street and the throttle stuck wide open....hit a tree and broke the bulkhead.
Is this a common problem?....I re-started it and everything was fine....I am a little worried to run it now...could be very dangerous. All the batteries were new and nothing was wet... It was only about 47 degrees out, but I don't think that would cause a problem...It wasn't glitching or anything?????
Do you think I should replace the bulkhead with aluminum?
Thanks

I was just messing with the carb, and I got the slide to stick a couple of times....maybe that was it!!!!!
well anyway, I put a return spring from the bell crank to the nipple on the exhaust......we will see:)

Ya, aluminum for the bulheads. Both my busted and did the aluminum thing. The part of the bulkhead that holds the whole suspension to the fram is rediculously small. Traxxas should be ashamed of themselfs for installing such a inferior piece. I went with Dynamite since it looked the best of the cheaper bulkheads. Dynamite bulkheads have plastic insert in where the hinge pins slide where most others dont, they are metal to metal with pins in. Also they came with steel hinge pins where most had no pins, they needed bought seperately. Most all places have the Dynamite set for 52 buck. They look very much the same as Traxxas aluminum but are about $10-20 cheaper and Traxxas doesnt come with hinge pins. Good luck :)

I have seen this problem before not on mine but a couple of posts out here. The Slide carb sticks because of lack of lube possibly and once they lube it up it is good again. One dude said it happened a couple of times to him.

Call Traxxas and tell them about it might be a bug in the new carb. They have great support and need to hear about it.

Ive notice the carb hangs at times. Hitting the breaks push it back to a correct closing. I took the air cleaner off and when you pull the throttle you can see it slightly rock in the slide. Like its not tru or the seals dont seal to make it move in and out straight. I wonder if thats half peoples tuning problems out there. Airleaks through the shaft seals.

Well I pulled the return spring, it was too much load for the servo to do its job, and installed a fail safe. It works great.... The first day, it kicked on about 3 times. I sealed the servos caps with silicone and the problem seems to be fixed. The carb was sticking a little, but a little WD40 fixed that.... All is good again. I put 2 stiffer springs and 40wt oil in the rear to stiffen it a little and now it doesn't handle quite as good but is a lot more fun off small jumps and doing wheelees is no problem at all.....This thing is way cool............:p
