I just picked mine up a few weeks ago....
My advise would be to stiffen the rear end a little with 50wt oil and check the front shocks to make sure they are full....
You need a fuel bottle and maybe a few extra plugs. You also need a 7.2v battery for the starter. As far as aftermarket parts, I would wait and upgrade as things break. The weak points seem to be the bulkheads and plastic shocks. I have had to replace the front bulkhead cause the throttle stuck at the full throttle break-in tank(bummer). I bought a fail-safe so this wouldn't happen again.....Hope this helps and have a blast with you new machine:)

The TMaxx shocks come about 3/4 full from the factory. I run my with 40w all the way around but the using 50w in the rear is a great idea. I would pick up some shock oil and fill all your shocks.

The new TRX 2.5 Slide carb is a touchy compared to the older Rotary Carb. I had problems with mine stalling at low speeds if this happens to you Richen the LSN by 1/8 to 1/4 turn in increments until it does not stall at low speeds or slam on the breaks.

My Expereince ;)

no a toys r us battery will not work. you can find batteries and a charger for pretty cheap. all you really need is a 1500mah battery and a 4 hour or overnight charger. check www.towerhobbies.com for that stuff. it wont set you back too much.

I dumped the EZ start for a pull starter. Just need a glow starter and I say it's more reliable.

What you really need is.
-Shock oil 30-50 WT depending on the surface (I say 35WT-40WT for on road and off road, 2 OZ)
-Fuel, a bash fuel, high oil.
-a battery and charger. E-Bay, tower hobbies, your locak hobby shop, etc. Any reputable Land and some air hobby shop sells them.
-and lots of fresh batteries AA size.

the new slide carb is wonderfull but you just need to tune it each time your out running then it will keep on running and running for as long as you can stand to be outside.

You will be surprised how cheep you can get stuff on E-Bay...
As far as hop ups, I agree with the masses... If it ant broke, don't replace it!!!
I put 50wt oil in the back and 40wt up front... Once I filled them they were a completely different animal... good luck with your Maxx...
You'll burn through that 250 before you know it replacing what breaks!!!

Andrew

This is what I do with the batteries. I run NiMH 1.2v batteries in my transmitter and 1.5v alkalines in my receiver. I would not run four 1.2v batteries in the reciever pack because it will reduce Steering responce.

NiMH and Nicads are 1.2v and I have not noticed a distance or responce problem and I get longer run times out of my transmitter.

I am thinking about switching over to Rechargable Alkalines 1.5v for my reciever/transmitter packs in my race trucks. The NiMH batteries will have about a 1000 charge life. NiCads have less charge life and will require a full drain after use. I have not seen a charge life on Alkalines yet or other specs on them yet.

I buy my Alkalines at Sam's Club or BJs Wholesale club and pay about 11 bucks for 28 of them.

Few thoughts ;)
