Hello again Dale
I am going to cover in silver SoLite. This seems to be the covering I allways use:confused: even though I bought yellow monocoat for it.But I wanted it to lose some weight.Been along week already and I havnt got a chance to work on it.

Hey Guys.
Well ran into a problem with it today, had today off due to rain so I decided to start getting the ailerons fitted.I was worried about this before but now its obvious its not going to work.I will haft to build a new center section.
The problem is the way the tube and torque rod are set up.they are going straight onto a wing with dihedral:confused: It may have been alright if the rod was in center but it is set almost to the bottom of the center section of the wing..Here is my plan of attack...

Mike,
Excellent write up, nicely built, scratch Texan, nice and smooth:) are you planning of covering in her traditional yellow dress? *Go for a scale look, you will be amazed by the praises you'll get from you fellow hobbyist in field.

Mike,
Oh no, that's a bummer. That is a trap with that kind of wing. I can see what worried you.
Do you have ribs that are thick enough to make the holes without hurting them? They are getting fairly thin back there too.
You have a good plan. Any other way to do it?

Hey Roger
Yeah I though about it before I built it but put my trust in the desighn it just seemed like things would bind and it did not say whether or not to glue the torque rod to the aileron,It seemed like it would need to be free to slide in a lil or out lil.and the aileron doesnt move much up or down so I decided to go ahead with it.but while I was test fitting I just didnt like it.It sets the aileron down a lil right there and doesnt give a flush look.I imagine it works but I just see that it could be improved.I cut the tubes and rod out already and looked at it a lil then just decided to build a new one I should have it done tonight or tomorrow.
Antonio
Thanks man :) I have something in mind with silver I have yellow monocoat but wanted to save some weight with the silver solite.I do like yellow its easy to see .but just about every AT-6 and North American Harvard out there is yellow
genovia, I agree with Roger.....
I will take pics of my Nick AT-6 on how I fitted my ailo. rods

Way to go! Extra ounces really hurt. I don't know the flying weight, but it sounds good to me.

Hey Roger:D
Well the specs say that its supposed to weight 18 ounces with a wing loading of around 16 ounces,Im hoping to come in somewhere in the 14 ounce area, hoping this wiil keep the tip stalls down and increase overall performance. The motor instructions say that itll fly a sport plane up to 650grams wich is right around 24 ounces (I Think). So this should be great :D.
Thanks for your interest Roger,Im telling you .you and Bill should get one of these and do some pylon racing:)
Take Care Roger

Hey Antonio ,
No problem:) I just wanted to get some more ideas on it Im going to go ahead and do it the way I drew above,But I got a brain storm on how I can kit a hole bunch of these in one shot so Im going to give it a try lol so theyll be more of them I can try different ways.
All this time I have been cutting out one peice at a time,I just now figured out that I can put about 6 sheets on top of each other and cut out on the scroll saw all at one time. This would give me as many kits as I wanted all in one shot:D jeeesh am I slow or what?:p
Have a great morning:cool:

Mike,
Your Texan is really looking Great. Sorry to hear that the torque rods bound up. Did your latest idea work out?
I wondered if you thought about using bellcranks in the wings?
Is this pretty bird gonna have legs (gear) or are you keeping her clean.
Please keep us posted.
Perry
PS. I am having my own delemma with ailerons on my Super Cub w/Flaperons

Hello Perry
I got the center section done tonught and from the test fits 100% better.I also moved the rods further to the back of the wing so that the rod would be on the hinge line.Ill post some pics up tomorrow of it.
Yes it will have legs:) as far as bell cranks I think theyll be hard to fit in too but Im not to sure on the different ways of setting them up either.
Nice to meet you Bluemax,Take Care:)

Hi Calmair
I dont know if you see it on your puter but on mine the cowl looks all runny and blotchy.but here in real life its looks pretty good with no runs or orange peels.I dont know why the Cam did this as it mostly makes things look better;)
Ive been working late trying to rake in some more money for radio gear and stuff. So havnt had alot of time to work on the T-6 I have built 2 more center sections so far and they keep coming out with a warp in them.Im going to get some better wood for the center sections spar and see if it helps.Im working on the stabs tonight at least I can get the fuse done.:)
Thank you for the Compliment Calmair

Hey Flyinhigh,
That thing is looking awesome. There is only one reason that I am glad that I cannot make them look as good as that...I would be afraid to launch it into the air:D But that is the only reason!
I would be proud just to set that one on display.
Keep us updated.
