well, i've been having a little bit of trouble with the idle on my maxx.......and i checked the carb and it wan't closing aginst the stop screw, it just needed a little nudge to get there, but when it goes from accel. to idle, it dosen't push itself al the way, like it's kinda sticking just before the setscrew, and can go farther when i give it a push, so i think sometimes it dosen't close, i tune it, then it closes and becomes to lean and my truck stalls......what do i do??

did you try lubing it? maybe that'll do it... if its just sticking because its dry who knows.

well, it still does this when i drop afrer run oil in there, and i would think that that would lube it enough, so i think it's the spring on the linkage isn't under pressure when it's at idle and dosen't help the carb close like i think it should......... should it also push with the throttle return spring?

The throttle renturn spring ideally should bring it back to idle but depending how it's set up it might not be strong enough. Your right and should check the linkage to make sure the return spring is tight enough.

I'm new to this forum and to the hobby. I just bought a T-Maxx and after about three weeks, I had the same thing happen to my carb. I removed the blue rubber cover off the carb and cleaned it with denatured alcohol as well as the slide. I noticed there was a lot of very fine dirt coming off. I also noticed the return spring that is covered by the rubber cover was not wrapped around the groves. Make sure the spring is in place. Then readjust the stops (ones with set screws) by the servos. (Sorry if I don't name the parts properly). Now the carb slide is as good as new. One more thing, be gentle when putting the blue cover back around the groves. I hope this helps.

thanx for the help, i think it is having trouble sliding, and if you got yours gummed up, chances are mine is too.........how do i take apart the carb?? i could guess but i don't want to forget and not be able to put it back together or break it

I did not separate the carb from the motor. I removed the entire motor with the carb attached. I removed the low speed needle (annotate your LSN setting) and cleaned the threads as well. Spray some cleaner as you move the slide vigourously but gently. Again this is my 2cents

what would be eaiser?? i think just the carb would.....but i dunno.........i don't want to lose the gear mesh, i know it might not be hard to get back, but i don't NEED to take the engine off......i don't think
