im using RPM's blue clawz for all four tires and i havent noticed that much of difference in wieght but all i can tell you is if you do get wheels like i have is you should keep them clean dirt will collect and could just be enough to throw off some balence

my question to you all is

do any of you run the trinity p2kpro in your t3 if so what gearing you running

For offroad, I wouldn't bother balancing tires. You are jumping and they get beat around so there is not much point. :)

As far as rims go, anything besides chrome is fine to use. I don't like chrome for offroad because the chrome always comes off after a few runs in the dirt. I used HPI 5 star rims for last offroad season on my T3, there is no real problem, but I think most people use dish rims because they are lightweight, and practical. :)

Also, as far as the instruction manual goes, I never had a problem with it. Take your time putting it all together and it will work out great. :)

Hey all T3 racers, I am wanting to now a good gearing for my T3.
I have a Trinity street spec 19t motor, a novak explorer esc, and I use 2000 and 2400 batts. I would like to know which gearing would be good for torque and one for speed? I am also looking to get a better motor but I am at a loss. I have no idea on what to get and what batts to match it with. Thanxs.

pudder
12-29-2002, 01:04 PM
Well gearing is all up to you, generally I don't help people with that.

As for a better motor, you may want to check out some of the p-94's or Speed Gems Pro's. Also, if you want something for a bit more runtime, you may want to get a stock motor like the P2k 2 Pro, or GM3.

Ugh, I have to post some pics of my T3, multiple posts. Defraging my hard drive with site contents and don't have pics up on site...

Well anyways: this is what I will be racing this winter:

What should I put on my RC10T3, if I have a $400 limit?
I already have a JR3,LRP phaser,LRP speed control, and a trinity copperhead. This will be very helpful.

Buy every RPM upgrade, titanium turnbuckes (if you dont have them) aluminum shock caps, robinson titanium topshaft, titanium outdrives and CVD's, as well as all of the Racer's Edge and Trinity upgrades. :)

I am using the HS-645MG servo in my T3 with dirt Hawg tires all around, after a few turns the wheels are not straight forward- they have turned. When at neutral steering position they are veered off to whichever way I was using the most. I am guessing that the servo saver spring is too weak for my 133oz servo. Do they make one that is more stiff? How much would it cost?

This is totally different but what effects would putting more toe-in on the front wheels cause? How about camber?

k_sw31
12-30-2002, 12:51 AM
It sounds like your servo saver just isn't tightened. Simply twist the nut type thing to tighten the spring :)

I think with toe in it affects your handling and stability, the more toe in the more aggresive it will handle, but the less stabel it will be at high speeds (i am pretty sure  )

I'm not sure about caster though

Could you list the sites where i could buy these things?
Could i start racing with these things?

Tower Hobbies (http://www.towerhobbies.com) is a good place to buy a lot of stuff, they have a great selection and a fixed shipping rate of about 7$ (right now i think if you have an order of 150+ shipping is free :))

Really the only aluminum thing you need for the t3 is the rear tranny brace, its from trinity and is only about 12$ :)

Then basically buy the majority of RPM parts for the T3-
rear arm mounts
mini bumper
etc. :)

t3customdriver
12-30-2002, 01:21 AM
what is the actual site of trinity and rpm?

What is the site for robinson parts?

k_sw31

Feel free to put them all in one post, there is an 'edit' button you know ;)

Trinity- http://www.teamtrinity.com/
RPM- http://www.rpmrcproducts.com/
Robinson Racing- www.robinsonracingproducts.com
Racers Edge- http://www.racersedgerc.com/
For TI turnbuckles associated makes them, but lunsford makes beefier ones, you can buy them on tower :)

Hope that helps :)

Oh yeah, MIP makes CVDs, their site is www.miponline.com

My T3 was originally a Team Built, but I added this stuff-
TI hingepines
Blue motor plate
RPM gear cover
RPM mini bumper
RPM rear a arm mounts
RPM spring retainers
Graphite chassis ( I actually dont like it, I seems to decrease my range :()
Better/more tires
Getting a crowd pleazer body soon
Getting an aluminum tranny brace also

I think thats about all i have added :)

A few months ago I bought about 8 sets of tires (3 front, and 5 sets of rear) off a guy with only a run or two on each. (He was sponsered by the tire company apparently).

The tires are in great shape, but they came on Losi rims and I was told those wouldn't fit my T3 (at that time I was going to get a XXXT but changed my mind).

So do I:
A) Try to sell the tires to recoup my cost (@ $60).
B) Try to dissolve the glue with Acetone and remount the tires with new foams and rims.
C) Search for a way to get the Losi rims to work on my T3.

I think B would be ok if I knew that the rubber would be fine. But I've never done that before and thought you guys would have the best answer.

k_sw31
12-30-2002, 03:11 PM
brittonlj77- I think you can adapt most rims to fit fairley easily, its just a matter of using spacers, drilling stuff out, and grinding stuff down :)

If that doesn't work I'd just sell all the tires :)

t3customdriver- I'm 13 male and I'm in Canrnation Washington

But right now I'm in chelan :)

Here is the only pic I can dig up of my t3 for now, look through this forum and there are some more :D

t3customdriver

Does anybody have any suggestions on what motor i should put on my t3? I don't care how much it is. I want the fastest, most torque, and the quicest. I was thinking about getting the reedy TI modified motor. What do you suggest?

k_sw31
12-30-2002, 04:08 PM
t3customdriver- I have AIM and MSN IM, my AIM screen name is vasnitashvooten (weird :p) Or is you have MSN IM my email is k_sw31@hotmail.com

I made the bumper my self, but you dont need it, you'd be better buying one of those RPM cushioned bumpers and adapting it to a T3. I also made the battery strap myself, They are really easy to make, it just takes an hour or so

For fast motors-
Well, if your not racing (or if your track will allow) consider going bruhsless, dont buy one of those novak or orion systems, look at buying a Lehner 5300 and an appropriat ESC (if you want to) BL systems can cost anywhere from 230$ to 500$+!

But as far as brushed motors go-
Basically the Orion core modifieds, Trinity D5s, and the reedy TIs are the popular racing modifieds, you'll want something around a 12-10 turn, tons of speed, but you'll need to replace brushes/cut comm. every ten runs or so.

With brushless (BL) the only maintenence required is to replace the bearings (only two of them) every ten years or so  PLus BL has a lot more rpms, greater run time, and a lot more torque :D

Prinler
12-30-2002, 04:14 PM
BWHAHAHAHAHA I just purchased brushless for my t3.... :)

What Upgrades am i going to have to buy now? Name the Trani parts, if any, that might bust. :)

k_sw31
12-30-2002, 04:19 PM
I didn't blow up anything in my tranny with my 5300, the only problem I had was my diff slipped, you'll probably want to rebuild your diff to be safe. :)

Prinler
12-30-2002, 05:24 PM
Should we lock our diffs? or is that a bad idea? Also how does one make the slipper not slip?

i hear that i can strip the gears and pop off the top shaft? something good?

k_sw31
12-30-2002, 05:48 PM
I didn't have the diff locked, same with the slipper, things can get sorta nasty when you have that much power ;)

I basically had the diff a little tighter than normal, and the slipper set so it would slip for about a foot :)

I wouldn't worry much about your T3's tranny, one of the most solid trannys I have ever seen :D

Pudder- were did you get your tires/rims on your plue body truck?

pudder
12-30-2002, 08:16 PM
The blue truck? Well, that is my friends T3, I just have it at my house because I needed to take something off of it for my truck.

The tires are foam tires, so you wouldn't want them unless you are planning to race on a carpet track, the rims come with them.

I think they are T.M. made foams, I am not sure since they are not mine.

On my truck (one with white rims) I have JACO foams.

t3customdriver

Pudder-Have you ever seen the twin motor set up for a t3 on ebay? What do you think of it? Do you have any trucks or t3 parts that you want to sell?

pudder
12-30-2002, 08:24 PM
No, I have not seen this dual motor setup, but by the sounds of it, it is a waste of money. It is a 2wd truck, and if you have the right setup wih one motor, it will go crazy. :)

As for spare parts, nothing other than some black screws which I use for projects.

They will be coming out with the T4 after the B4. The B4 is still a ways a way.

May I ask why you want more parts so bad?

I do have a Kyosho Highrider for sale, if you want to take a look:

brittonlj77
12-31-2002, 12:51 PM
Heh, I got the front end assembled last night before I found the bag of blue aluminum screws. Doh!

I know a lot of people had problems with the aluminum ones stripping, but I have a great set of hex drivers (thorp).

I'm not sure if I want to strip it down and rebuild with the blue ones or not.

Heh, oh yeah.. I only had one panic attack during installation... the L and R markers fell off of the front block carriers when I removed them from the sprue so I had no idea which was which. I finaly figured it out from the drawing, but I was like "dang, foiled in the very first step!!"

k_sw31
12-31-2002, 01:01 PM
I wouldn't bother re-assembling the front with the blue screws because they snap a lot easier than the black ones, and since the front usually takes the most impact, its a good Idea to have stronger stuff in the front :)

Hey T3 guys. Been racing a team B3 for about six months now and was thinking of getting into the truck class. At first I was going to get the team version and just upgrade to ti turnbuckles but its only a few more bucks just to get the factory edition. So before I order it I wanted to see if you guys had any input. Do the graphite hopups really matter and does anyone have any problems with radio interference or glitching with the factory kit? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Got my paddle tires and everything, I was driving around in my 3 inch creek Of course, by the time I was done, everything was covered in mud and sopping wet Luckily the inner body prevented a lot of crap from going in, but hey, how can It now when your halfway submerged in water? I just had a gnarly crash y'all!! lol.
I'll try to explain it my best.

There is a fairly large hill in my backyard, steep but not long. right in front of the hill is a driveway. I got a plastic kicker ramp for skaters and bikers but I am using it for r/c's. (of course). Well right were the driveway ends and the hill goes down i propped up the ramp on some wood so it has a 70 degree angle. lol
At the bottom of the hill there is a bird feeder that is up on a stiff metal pole. I was so excited I went full speed (only have 17t SG pro) and hit the ramp, got easily 10ft high and was going fast. On the way down my T3's rear end introduced itself to the metal pole. If i would have blinked I would have missed it, the back right a-arm caught onto the pole and spun it instanly. (did at least a 720) loooked like a stripper swinging on a pole. When I dissasembled it there was little shavings of metal around the motor. Guess my cvd got ripped out harshly. I ended up breaking a ?rear a-arm mount?
that is the first time the truck has failed me and i was planning on getting the RPM mounts anyways:D . Unless that will cause me to start breaking a-arms.

Oh yea, It did not spin a 720 in mid air, it spun around the pole lol.

Tell me if you get it. i'm not so good at explaining things.;)
