Hey all as you know i already own a NT Sport and i love it, so this thread is not for me. So on Sat. we went to the opening race at our LHS (local hobby shop) and he brought some cash hopeing to get a nitro stadium truck. Now he has narrowed it down to a few, for under 330. his choices are the evader, NMT, GT, and the rustler 2.5. So he needs choosing a nitro ST, and i know a few of you guys own this truck(s) so can you help him on what he should get and which one is best at reliability, matnence, and stuff. So, can you help him cause he wants to get anwers as quick as possible and he justs wants one because he has drive mine and he really likes it ( he is a natural at driving his friend Dave is also good at nitro, and they are my marshalls/pit crew and are helpful) so he shouldn't have a problem crashing so thanks for your help/time
P.S. can you give him tips on nitro, hey nevermind that is what i am for;) :D Pat show this to dave to because he may want one

hope your cusin finds the right truck!
oh and i can go on aim so go on and we can talk
in my opinion he should get the GT because it seems to be a really good truck even though i'm not into nitro

there are zillions of posts on this subject in this forum, but with the list you gave, I have to agree with ae, the gt is a truck he will not outgrow, due to the neverending aftermarket support for this truck.

Out of the list you gave the only truck I don't have is the evader so I can't help you with that one. There are pro's and con's for each truck and your cousin will have to take a look at them and see which he likes better because all are great trucks. Also something that should be considered is... what does your lhs stock as far as parts are concerned. Having to wait for a $3 part to come in is really annoying. As far as each car goes....
xxx-nt-
PROS the best stock handling out of all 3, very good radio
CONS not very fast, several people have problems with the plastic parts breaking
GT-
PROS huge aftermarket support, good handling, Nice and clean setup chassis
CONS terrible stock radio and servo's, little faster then the nt but not much
2.5 Rustler-
PROS alot of aftermarket parts, very fast, comes stock with one of the best .15 engines availible, very durable, best customer support there is
CONS handling stock is terrible (but can be up to par), stock rear shock tower has tendency to break
So if your hobby shop stocks all three companies then. If you want to tune handling and always have the speed go with the rustler, if you want to have the handling and upgrade for speed go with the losi, if you want a truck that is easy to work on and has good handling then go with a GT. Personally my fav. is the rustler out of those three because I had a good time taking a truck that most people think isn't race worthy and getting it to where I could smoke them on the track. However, a truck that is not in your list that you might want to take a look at is the mugen mst-1....That looks to be the best ST out there, i can't wait for mine to come in.

hoodiegadoo thanks a lot for your help, and even though the mugen is a great car i don't think it is in his price ranger, aren't they 400 almost w/ no radio and engine, but the rustler 2.5 does soun good and i think he is leaning towards it because of its speed, and i read it is a great truck in my Rc Nitro and stuff and like you said the handling is bad stock but a new servo and some tires should fix it, but if he gets the rustler i am afraid that he will smoke me at racing cause i have a NT:rolleyes:  i better get that new pipe and engine and do you think a 2.5 will fit in my NT Sport w/o the electric starter? cause it is a awsome engine

Id definitly go with the gt,
the rustler 2.5 is fast but Ive heard it has a horrible turning radius which would be bad for a track and besides that the whole design's outdated.
The gt is the most race oriented of them all, you will be suprised at the power of the rtr engine a guy at the track has one it it can hang with my cv-r except for in the straight. The gt is also tough as nails, Ive never broken anything on mine and unless you punish it alot it wont break.
STAY AWAY FROM THE NMT first of all its not a race oriented truck at all and is illegal for most racing since its 4wd, it has many problems that require you to replace parts often even though hpi claims theyve fixed them, such as the a-arms and c-hubs break easily and th dog bones bend, it also requires hop-ups from the start, like a slipper clutch and harder spring. People other than me who have the nmt will so theres fixes for everything and how great it is but they dont know any better, I used to be one of them.

The rustler is a great truck....just make sure you get carbon shock towers and wrap the top shock caps TIGHT with teflon tape....You're cuz won't be dissappointed.

One thing to consider though is if he has any desire to race in the future the 2.5 engine, while quite fast, is not a race legal engine.

the 2.5 rustler get's my vote, it has everything on it, ton's of aftermarket, much support from the factory and if he doesn't like it which I doubt it he can get the gt.
