Man, I gotta get one of those. I'm a nitro guy, but I'm gonna try electric. I was just about to post a thread to ask if I should get the B4 or XXXKE, but I guess that answers my question. What electronics are you running in it? I'm gonna sell alot of crap on ebay, so I might be getting one! (yay :D ) I'm starting to give electric more respect now that my friend might be getting a XXX-T or T3. He's going to be the only person with an RC within 100 miles of my house.(that I know of) Well, I guess I should start saving up now, I've already got $120! All I need to get is a B4, ESC, Battery, charger, 2 more radios, a MT12, an FR12, a receiver pack, 2 more pipes, some parts for my XXX-NT, and a new antenna for my radio, and I'll have everything I need (and I'll be in debt forever!) But if anybody wants to buy some pokemon cards, Mage Knight figures, a Nintendo Gamecube, or any of my old hobby stuff like that, give me an E-Mail and keep me out of debt :D

BTW, my setup is kind of like yours.

Can some one with a B4 measure the width of the rear of the car? Take the rear tires off and measure from drive pin of one axle to the other. Thanks

I purchased my b4 last night on ebay. There was a buy it now option, and 5 cars available. I payed 169 for the car, and 6 for shipping. I think I did pretty well. I drove a buddies this weekend, and wow does that thing steer. Puts my XXX to shame.

Guess that explains it, the XXX sux so I'm geting a B4. I was thinking about getting a XXXKE but the B4 just seems so much better. New shock tower concept, better diff, swept forward wheels to help prevent nose-down crashes from digging into the ground, and the B3 is already faster than the XXX. Do you think it would be a good first electric? I've built a V-1R and taken my XXX-NT apart and put it back together 7+ times, so the kit won't be a problem to build. I'm thinking maybe putting a XXL receiver, Airtronics or Hitec digital servo(at least .12 in/sec and 80 oz. torque), IPC Pro Sport esc, and a Reedy KR modified 12-14 turn motor in it if I get one. Does this sound like a pretty good electronics setup for it?

yeah that sounds great. i hope your skilled around the course to drive it with that much power. a b4 with a modified motor is wicked fast. :)

Yeah, after nitro you get pretty good. I just have a few problems running into curbs and mailboxes; they must have some magnetic effect or something :D I don't think I'll have that much trouble controlling it if I drive it at the right areas. Just gotta watch out for those curbs and mailboxes, they're out to get your cars!

i've been racing/driving mine for a few weeks now.....

only a few problems..

1. front bulkhead breaks

2. servo saver strips out

3. diff is smooth, but sounds crunchy

loads of steering... ultra stable...

peace out..... :)

I have a few questions cause I am getting a b4 (my first electric buggy) and would like to know the cons about it. What is the front bulkhead? And what do you mean by the servo saver strips out?

The diff is smooth but sounds crunchy? I dunno if that's normal (considering the diff is really pretty much revived from the dead...it's about 12 years old) or if you need to grease it up some. I'd check it if I were you... It can't be good for the gears.

first, the diff....

some "seem" to have been shipping with bad balls... mine was... when the diff did it's job, it made a crunchy sound, but felt smooth to the touch when you spun it... i replaced my diff balls and it's all good...

next.... the bulkhead... it breaks right at the hinge pin (at the inside of the a-arm)... when it breaks, it also breaks or "strips out" the plastic hinge carrier... now... AE makes a factory team alum replacement for the hinge carrier.. if you put that on, you won't break anymore bulkheads.... but you will start breaking a-arms.... so it's your choice what you want to break... LOL... (btw, it takes a pretty hard hit to break the bulkhead or a-arm)

the servo saver... it's a totally new design... it's easy to overtighten, and when that happens, it strips out the area where the top alum cap screws into... basically, it's just too easy to strip it out... wayyyyy 2 easy.... also... the new servo saver comes with a SOFT spring... perfect for low torque plastic gear servo's... but it is not the hot ticket for metal gear/higher torque servos (because then it ends up flexing all the time instead of steering).... AE offers a higher tension spring for the saver, which works wonders on better servos, but it also makes it that much easier to strip out the steering arm....

one more note.... the stock gear cover ^*#$'s.... LOL... but the T-3/B-3 RPM cover will bolt right up....

and realllyy lastly.... the box stock set-up seems to be for really high bite blue groove tracks.... i don't have any of those around me.... LOL... i think the most common change in chassis set up right now is removing the internal travel limits in the rear, and sometime front and rear (of course this varies wildly from track to track).... the B4 uses shims inside the shock body to limit downtravel (unlike the 2 or 3 series AE's)

peace out.... :)

Well A-arms will break anyway if you hit something too hard...I've broken about 3 with my XXX-NT-one at the hinge pin like you said- and they're not that hard to replace on off-road 2wd's, at least my XXX-NT's, and electrics should be easier to repair. I'll try to remember to get some better diff balls if I get a B4, but I don't have that much luck with diffs anyway, considering that mine has blown 3+ times. I wish you could get straight axles for off-roads (monster torque, but piece-of-crap steering) but for now I'll just use super-thick diff oil and tighten the diff all the way. I found out why my diffs were blowing though, I used the same nut for the diff screw just about every time I rebuilt it. That could have been a problem.

the problem with the XXX-NT diff is a lot different than the B4... on the B4, it works perfectly, it just makes a tad bit of noise if you are unlucky enough to get bad balls.... if you get good balls, it works perfectly and is quiet... (read- you won't have any diff problems)

it's extremely rare to "blow" the diff in an AE electric... it's extremely easy to "blow" one out of the XXX-NT...

oh and... i've never broken a B4 arm at the hinge pin.... i've broken the bulkhead at the pin...

peace out... :)
