View Full Version : I'm gonna put my reciever through the wall!

I was running my Inferno today, and the radio was acting funny,so I killed it,and discovered batteries that were almost dead(two tanks,or about 15 minutes).I put in fresh ones, and soon, the radio was acting funy again.Steering and throttle would randomly cut out,and I had to give some neighbors I had just impressed with my car a good laugh when I had to chase it into a bush(I didn't look up soon enough, and I followed the car RIGHT in:p ).I killed it again after that, ran the rest of the fuel out without the assistance of the radio, and brought it in.I am worried that I need a new reciever, yet I also need a new engine,as it had almost no compression during a 180 degree "hot" start.Am I screwed?

Maybe, maybe not. Is the crystal loose? Were those new batts OK? Did you spill fuel into the receiver? Is the antenna wire OK? Are the transmitter batteries charged? Is the receiver cushioned against the vibration of the engine?

I pushed the crystal in as tight as possible after the first time, even though it was not loose, and I did the same on the radio. The batteries(energizer E2,which are gonna go bye bye soon, due to the speed at which they drain(I got two freakin tanks outta one set, running 2 HiTec servos, which are NOT digital))are fresh in both the transmitter and the reciever.

The reciever is in a sealed box,and the antenna is in perfect condition.

The batteries in the transmitter were fresh, with only about 3 tanks on them. The reciever is wrapped in foam padding.

To top things off,I can only afford to fix one thing on it right now:(

Maybe I should just buy a new car,and be happy again;)

Pull the crystals out and check to see if the prong thingers that go into the reciever are still strong in there. I had a similar problem and the pronger thingers were loose. I replaced em and it was it!

I'm not sure, but you're using rechargeable AA's in your transmitter, right? Because they only provide 1.2 volts, but a regular AA provides 1.5 volts. Maybe this is why they seem dead. But I'm not sure. I wouldn't worry too much about your motor until you can't start it anymore

I'm running fresh energizer e2 batteries in the transmitter and car.

Are those e2s lithium batteries? If so,switch to regular duracells.I'm almost 100% sure that's the problem. Even if their not lithium,I know I heard something about those batteries being sub par.

I agree with racer 234,if it starts and runs OK,let it go.Or if the problem poor running,I'm sure a P/S from Larrys is much cheaper than replacing the whole thing.

My cousin had the same problem with the e2(both of us used the basic ones.Lithium was too expensive, and not worth it;) ),I was having good luck with my duracell ultras.I will stick with those AND send an evil letter to energizer:p

Oh,and I don't wanna stick with my current engine. Not enough power:eek: I want that new .26(I ALMOST had one,but my mom wou;dn't ok the purchase:( Now I have to wait until june or july for the next shipment, because it is cheaper from there than from the 'net).

I am gonna just run the engine like I always wanted to,but without the worries.I basically will have the fun that I was afraid to unleash:D

Oh,and still no word on the race.I will hound him ASAP for more info.

Don't even bother with the stupid alkalines. Buy a 5cell receiver pack. They are much better, and way cheaper in the long run.

I am not very good with rechargable batteries. Also,I don't want to invest in a charger yet, maybe once I get my TC I'll go for the pack,if it will fit in my battery/reciever box(I can barely fit the alkaline case, the reciever, wires, and foam(thin foam, about 1/8 inch think uncompressed) in the box.It has a slight arch to the top when closed due to the amount of contents.I am thinking about converting to a mp-7.5 box,but I dunno if it will work.

I know I avoid energizer like the plague. I've always found their batteries to be junk. IMOHO, they've spent all their money on advertising R&D rather than battery R&D. I've personally found most any other brand will do better for electronics (pagers and video games).
