Do antenna cap make a difference if you use them or not? Where can I buy the cap by themselves without antennas?

yes caps do make a difference. they protect the part of your antenna wire where it comes out of the tube, from getting worn, cracked etc. This is especially true if you roll your car, or go under something. You can buy caps at hobby shops, online, or even at a hardware/auto parts store(get the small rubber vacuum caps).

you can make a cap if you have a piece of shrink tubing. just cut a little piece then shrink it to the right size, then melt one of the ends closed.

I stay away from anything that really secures your antenna tube/antenna because if it gets snagged up (especially 1:8 offroad) the whole wire wont get yanked out, just the tube.

I use a cap on my 1:8 offroad antenna, but I also have a custom length antenna tube that holds the antenna and then some.I would think that people would have enough sense to get the antena covered, and not just hold it down to the tube it came in.Besides,I find it to be a LOT cheaper to do it this way.I bought 3 feet of antenna tubing and a half dozen caps for less than it wou;d have cost me to get a precut antenna with one cap.It also allowed me to make the end of the tube fit PERFECTLY.I can pick up the car by the antenna tube, and not have it budge.

teamskunkwerx is right. Using a cap that secures the wire will only result in the whole thing being ripped out.

Iuse Heat Shrink On My Antennas....even After Going Spektrum
Before I Used To Take The 5" Tail And Silde 24ga Tube Over It, Then, 14ga Tube Over That And The Antenna Tube. It Makes A Nice Whip..

:teacher: been there done that, run my RC18b under a dumpster (oops) and it riped the antenna off with only 1/2" hanging out of the receiver. I run my antenna under the body now, no wip it runs fine and I don't worry bout tearing up any thing but the shell when it flips in the parking lot :D

I have not been able to find just an antennae cap. Although I admit I have not looked too far.
A teenage female worker at my LHS who I think had very limited r/c experience provided me a fantastic idea of just using fuel tubing as an antennae cap. Why didn't I ever think of that after all these years? I already had a lot of fuel tubing. That ended up being a very good idea, it holds very well.

I use heat shrink tubing to cover the extra wire that sticks out of the tube. It works very well... For example... My Sledge Hammer:
