It's a great kit with an exceptional price. I believe it will be a huge success!

Hi -

I will agree, the T1R seems to agree with me. I am running it with foams, and on its second day, it seems more dialed than my TC3. Maybe I have better experience in setting up a car but I have to say I am impressed with how it went together and how well things fit.

Even without swaybars on carpet with foams, I like how it works very much.

The T1 is such (I never thought I could say this about an rc car) a beautiful piece of, well, art! It has to be the best made car out there. If i had the cash to spend for one, it'd be the one that I would get. Can you get a less expensive, bare-bones type version so I could afford to hop it up later?

Thank you very much,

Adrian

I am deciding to stay with electrics and buy a T1 Racer or to step to Nitro and buy an MTX3, but I can't decide

What for electronics are you guys using and what runtimes and speed do you get with it?

How fast would the T1R be with a 11T motor?

The funny thing with electric cars is that, if you use the same exact gearing, you can put an 11 triple motor in, say, a Tamiya, and it will go just as fast as if you put it in your T1R. (Same deal with ESC's).

And with the MTX3? how long have you been working on RC cars, how prepared are you to work more everyday after you run a nitro car, and if you have a little more $ to spend (nitro is more expensive).

Time is not a issue, since I also will clean my electric car after bashing/racing :)
About money, well if you f**k up your battery it will cost you alot too. :D

Whats keep me from deciding is a nitro you can run again after another run (if the engine is not overheating :D ) but with an electric, you have to cool the batteru down for minimum 1 houre. Ok ok, if you have 4 packs you can run many times too, but 4x €60 is 240,- you can buy alot of fuel :)

But the T1R looks so sweat!!! (and the MTX3 too :p )

Might get one of these. Proly make it into a speedster with my BL system out of teh e maxx and maybe race it once in a while.

i'd go for the nitro car, personally, in part because i have one already. they seem to have no limit on power.

and if you're careful eenough (which you should be), you probably wont go frying your batteries.

Has anyone gotten a T1R yet? I am considering getting one, just trying to decide if I should just hold out for a little longer and spend the extra $200cdn on a T1 EVO2

From what I hear the T1R is a very good car. If you don't want to spend the extra money it would keep you happy. But if you want the pillowball and c hub suspension go with the Evo2 Freedom of Choice. Both cars are excellent.

GOT TO SAY WHAT A CAR.

I BOUGHT AS A PRACTISE CAR AS I WAS SICK OF MY TC3 GETTING DAMAGED FRONT ENDS ON THE TRACK I RUN (VERY TECHNICAL, SMALL BUT VERY FAST WITH BIG WOODEN BOARDS).

TOOK MY TIME AND BUILT IT AND MUST SAY A PLEASURE TO BUILT. THE CAR SHOULD COME STANARD WITH FRONT & REAR ANTIROLLBARS IS MY BIGGEST GRIP.

RUN THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE WEEKEND WITH THE NEW NOVAK 5300 BRUSHLESS MOTOR & ESC COMBO.

ONLY ONE WORD - WOW. VERY FAST AND THE CAR HANDLED IT WELL STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. SPRING CHOSE IS SPOT ON. THE ONLY CHANGE I HAVE MADE IS FRONT & REAR BARS AND THE HARD GRAPHITE UPPER DECK IN THE MIDDLE.

THE CAR HAD PLENTY OF STICK EVEN COMPARED TO MY SHAFT DRIVEN TC3 AND WITH A 7.32 GEARING IT SPUN ALL 4 WHEELS WITH EASE AND WITH THE NOVAK BRUSHLESS 12 MIN PLUS RUN TIMES IS EASY TO ACHEIVE.

WELL WORTH THE BUY AS IT IS EASY TO SET UP AND CAN TAKE A GOOD HIT JUST LIKE A NITRO PIVOT BALL CAR CAN.

Camry , thanks for the post...you've got me siked. My T1R should be here Thursday. I'm looking forward to the build.

Anyone else want to give some feedback on the car?

Hey -

As for more input into the T1R I can say again that it rocks. I honestly have only changed a few settings since I got it and it drives very predictably.

People have said to me that my car looks better than when I drove the TC3, and I've had a TC3 for a lot longer b4 I sold it.

It just seems consistent, and I have yet to break anything.

I am running foams and so the only thing I am doing right now is adjusting for ride height and for rollout.

Great car, no problems so far...

thanks

dave

Well , I got mine together last night....very smooth kit to build. The shock ends were a bit stuburn , but not too bad. Today I'm going to finish it of w/ electronics and a Losi Lexus body.

Have you herd of any parts in particular that do break? Arms , Chubs.ect?

I will be running mine on asphalt and carpet.
:)

I didn't break anything on my first weekend outing. And that was my first time racing onroad of any sort! From what I have read, the C-hub itself is the weak link in the suspension's durability. The T1/EVO2 are very tough cars in part due to the pivot ball suspension. The car comes with the larger, impact absorbing front bumper which helps durability as well. If you are looking to stock up on some replacement parts, the composite C-hub conversion kit for the T1/EVO2, P/N 300900 (http://www.teamxray.com/xshop/show.php?img_id=6698&crt=ad067202f83b4b1483f05bf382c22c1e), is a great way to get them all. It comes with arms, hubs, steering blocks, turmbuckles, hinge pins, spare axles and driveshafts, and a handful of other items for a good price. How good a deal just depends on what kind of mark-up your LHS has on XRay stuff.

Backfire , goods stuff man ...thanks.

I was glad to see that the kit came with a few extra hardwear parts "Last-aid package" because I was missing a cvd C-clip.

I love all of the support materials that come in a Xray kit...tuning info ect.

Hi

I should be getting a T1R in about 2 weeks. I've heard great things about it all around. I figured this would be the best place to find out more about the car. I wanted to know which spare parts I should get and which option parts would benefit me the most. I plan on racing at a local track btw.

Thanks :D

Nobody is replying....

Alright, we'll try a different approach:

Are their any owners of the T1R out there??? What parts are you breaking and/or what parts are wearing down faster than others???

Also, have any of you changed parts from the original kit?

Please Reply! I don't care how much experience you have with the car, any input would be appreciated :)

Thanks :D

I had a sweet LOSI XXXSG+ with loads of option and spare parts.... after buying the Xray T1R I sold all of the Losi stuff.

This Xray T1R car is fantastic. Its very predictable, easy to drive and setup, and its extremely durable in comparison to the Losi and TC3s.

This car may be the lower end Xray, but it competes just fine with all of the Top of the line race cars out there including the EVO2. The T1R holds the Mod Touring track record at my local track.

I have sold my Evo2 now, after have been racing the raycer for a while i`m faster and more consistent with it than the Evo2. I`m racing indoors, outdoors i assume that the Evo2 will be faster due to the C/F components that holds up better in the sun than plastic.

But for carpet there is only one choice: the Raycer!

(before the xrays i did drive a TC3, and i have been faster ever since i changed brand, i have been racing for 11 years now so its not a question of setup skills)

Have to sing the raycer's praises too... I haven't run it yet but the build was excelent. I had a few minor problems - cross threaded a ball cup on the end of one of the shocks and it was apig to get off - and my ESC and receiver won't both fit in the tray - no biggie, I'm just going to mount the Rx on top of the servo.

What I am wondering though is what is the standard settings for preload on the shocks - I don't have a set up board (this is my first on road car). Everything else is built per instructions to the best of my ability using calipers to accurately set every measurement. At the moment the pre-load ring is right at the top and I don't know where to move it to?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Scrad

Just move the collars down so you get about 5mm of ride height front and rear. Then adjust the tweak once you get the proper ride height.

hi all, has anybody had any problems with the layshaft bearings seizing in the casing.mine seized at a race meeting.its only one month old, have spoke to a 'pro' and he said it was common for xray's to suffer with this, any advice on how to prevent it happening.thanks plummers

plummers
05-21-2004, 08:29 AM
hi again, found the problem with the bearing on the layshaft, the blue seal on the inner race failed causing the loss of the lubricant.the bearing has completly seized and wound its way into the plastic case ovaling it out.nasty.keep an eye on your bearings this was only checked just before the race and was fine but seized by the end of the race.nice car tho, it still held second place in the top heat with a layshaft wobbling all over the place.lol  plummers

nick51

same thing happend to me with my layshaft bearing,i was racing and the bearing seized but thankfully it was during the qualifier, replaced it with an hpi bearing, runs perfect now. A gear gearing for a monster stock is 112/35 and a d6 9t 93/20

How does the Xray T1 Raycer compare to a Tamiya TB-02?

mccrash59
03-20-2005, 04:49 PM
You can´t compare both cars, even versus the new TB-02R. The Raycer it´s way more adjustable (maybe to much :D ) I´m sure this new japanish racer is quite capable to win races, but I´m really impressed how well the raycer handles in stock form. I was able to manage the car to a third place in front of a bunch of EVOs, TRFs... in my first race after more than a year out of the tracks.
I mean the Xray is an Evo with a composite chassis and the tb-02 is a car for beginers with some goodies. I´d buy the new Tamiya if it was in my budget but for sure I´ll keep my xray for racing.

i think its a better car out of the box. Much more ajustable and fast on any surface. Only problem is ya have to use saddle packs. But id get what your LHS stocks more parts for.

I love my T1R very balanced it surely is a solid ride, I have buoght the low ratio pulley set which lowers its internal ratio from 2.125 to 1.77 that's supposed to help accelerate harder out of the corners and reach a higher top speed as well haven't have time to try it yet

K, I know this may sound stupid, but where is everyone running there servo wire across to the RX? Under the belt, through the belt? Just dont know how much the belt slaps and dont need to be chewing through my servo wire. Thanks.

There's enough room under the top plate where the servo is such that you can drive a truck in there without worrying about the belt slapping it.

I've got a raycer and was wonering on how you lot put your batteries in. Im finding it very hard to put them in. I keep getting the problem of the wires rubbing along the belt.

I don't use connectors which eliminates the need to run wires across the battery pack.

BTW, I use Corally style gold connectors.

AudiTT-Quattro
11-01-2005, 01:41 AM
No luck with your LHS? SpeedTech carries XRAY parts; only go through XRAY directly if you don't have a choice since they charge more.

About 70% of the components on your T1R can be used on the FK05 and the other 30% of the parts are rather expensive if you plan on converting the T1R to the FK05. These parts include upper and lower chassis plates, new front and rear bulkheads, layshaft, and a whole bunch of other parts. Considering the cost of XRAY parts, you would be better off just purchasing an FK05 and possibly keeping the T1R as a parts car. The bulkheads and the chassis plates will run you a little more than half the price of a new FK05.

BTW, if you're having trouble looking for a carbon fibre chassis for your T1R, PM me. I have a few spares I'd be willing to let go cheap.

I have 4 Xray chassis's and have found that if you wish to get a carbon chassis for you T1R then you'll need to use the Xray T1Evo2 chassis or the T1FK04 chassis which will bolt straight up to your drivetrain, hope this helps :)
