Alright my boat is done but I wanna protect it. Since this is my first rc boat - I don't wanna sink it. What should I use for added floatation material. And any hints to stay afloat and dry inside would be great.

Some use chunks of EPS foam , but i've seen where it absorbed some water and mildewed in the boat .
Others use pool noodles stuffed in the bow .
I use a ziplock bag filled with styro worms .

Also put a sponge inside ( near the back ) incase some water gets in it will suck it up . Then you just remove it , ring it out and put it back .

Hey thanks man - I need all the help I can get. The sponge thing sounds like a really great idea.

You can use pipe insulation, different diameters for whatever sized boat that you have. Worst stuff is the spray can insulation, it will absorb water and fuel over time and if too much is used, it can blow the deck off your hull! I've seen all kinds of things used from inflatable pool toys to pop bottles.

I've thought about buying a bicycle inner tube & inflating it to snugness in the hull.

The only thing, is I wonder if air is better than the density of the foam???

For now, I've stuffed the pipe insulation & a few peices of closed cell foam around mine.

Great question.

I guess I'll run to home depot and look at some pipe insulation and other foams available. - or Pool Noodle HMMMM. LOL
