R/Cbum4life...
there no extra hexes or anything wiht the RPM stablemaxxes, just wheels. they are just offset more or deeper dished than the stock wheels. this extra offset gives it the added width. they work and bolt on just like the stock wheels.
GTX..
yeah I bet the bulks will take abuse in your case. stock arms don't flex much at all and they are about as tough as the bulks and with the added aluminum on there ya might want to pick up alum bulks. I think either better shocks or bulks are a good hop up though.

Is there any reason not to get RPM amrs and towers? Aluminum is no better than the nylon because it is heavier and instead of flexing it can snap?

I have been having problems getting friction pegs for the Tmaxx slipper clutch. Does anyone know if the robinson racing double clucth and spur needs them? If it does not need them I can get that instead. I have to buy the whole assembly anyway. I am also open to sugestions.

Totally cool snow pics.......wish it snowed around here. I haven't seen snow in yrs!
" I drank what?"
I don't think that plastic all around is such a good idea, the whole flexing thing scares me if it is anything other than the arms. Aluminum is hard to flex, which is good becasue if you flex too much, your diff mesh will get off and strip your diff gears, that would be a bad thing. I should show you pics of mine. I will set it aside my NIP set when it gets here to show how bad the damage is.
SixVi6
01-22-2002, 09:00 PM
yup.. GTX is right.. the diff gears can strip because of the flex in the cases and the plastic diff cup itself moving around and getting the gears out of alignment. With stock gears this is not too big a problem because the cut on the gears is pretty round and if it does skip a tooth it slides across and drops into the next slot but with the hardened RPM diff gears they have a rather sharp cut on the tops of the gears so when they skip a tooth the possibility is much greater of them stripping out. also some of the diff problems can also be traced to the stock diff ring, pinion, and spider gears varying in quality form one to another. I noticed that my original stock rear diff gears had a horrible wear patern. they soon stripped out. I replaced them with another set of stock gears and have yet to have a problem even with the .21 but the wear on the newer gears, both spider gears and ring and pinion, is perfect. they are making contact with eachother almost in the center of the gear which is unlike the previous set that let go. they showed wear at the very edge of the teeth.
--- there are pros and cons to both RPM plastic and high quality aluminum in my opinion
- aluminum can snap if hit at the right angle and bend easily if its lower quality. most of the aluminum hop ups are made from cheap aluminum most are not even graded they are so cheap so they break and bend easily. ***coughpowerlinearmscough** Aluminum such as t-7075 is almost as strong as steel but without the weight. odds are it won't break or bend. T-7075 is more costly but worth it if you are building an aluminum truck and the only place to get t-7075 suspension is from Unlimited engineering that I know of. t-6061 is used more widely but depending on the source of the t-6061 the actual strength can very also I think some manufactuers just say its t-6061 but they really have no idea if its the real deal or not. as noted though the weight is a factor with aluminum as well as costs for high grade and quality parts.
RPM takes the opposite approach to making parts unbreakable. Nylon RPM arms and shock tower flex a whole lot. way more than stock but thats why they do not break very easily. . But I've heard people equate the flexy RPM stuff of having negative handling effects and another problem is they sag eventually. I've had mine for a while now and all the lower arms have sagged a bit. weather its causes any handling problems I don't know. I don't race.. therefore I really don't care. lol.. cost wise its cheap and its light weight. great for bashing. :)
kojak61..
No the RRP slipper setup uses slipper disks instead of pegs. so eventually instead of replacing pegs you replace disks.. but the disks probably last a lot longer and can be flipped over and used on both sides so you won't have to replace them for a good amount of time. a good alternative with the stock slipper is to put 1/8" diff balls in place of the pegs and run the slipper tight then back off just slightly. using diff balls makes it more sensitive to adjustments but you won't have to replace the diff balls for a long time. I've been running diff balls in my e-maxx and t-maxx and have yet to have any problems at all in over a year.
hehe, powerline, lol!!! Well, I got all my stuff I need ordered, should be here soon!!!

What are spider gears? (Give me a break im new to this all I know is pinions and spurs) Those the kind that run at right angles to eachother and have curved sides to them? Hey I got a really good tip. If the rpms arms sag.........BREAK 'EM! haha!
SixVi6
01-23-2002, 06:12 PM
the spider gears are the gears that are inside the diff. itself. umm... these are the gears.. (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXSP77) the gears in the front of the pic. the pinions are at the back of the pic. lol.. yeah that is a good idea. take the RPM arms off.. put them in a vice.. and whack! with a hammer. lol.. ahh I'll leave them.. they don't sag too much and they still work. so I'm not going to worry about it.
Sag? What do you mean? Man, I look at my diff outdrive bearings and one is missing and the other is about to explode!!! I think that was what my problem was!!!! Now I can just pick up those at my LHS when I am getting the paint for my bodies!!!!!

I didn't mean rpm all around but what would you suggest? I am looking to do serious bashing.
Oh, well for arms I would just get some RPM ones, just too much flex is what I was afraid of. I have Rix towers too, those are really nice and light, not heavy like you think they are.
R/Cbum4life
01-23-2002, 09:07 PM
Yeah thats what I was attempting to describe. Personally im all for the rpm stuff. Its guaranteed! I just wish they made bulkheads and more stuff for the stampede.
They should make some bulkheads, they are probably testing them, they just flex too much and are trying to stiffen it all out.
R/Cbum4life
01-24-2002, 04:45 PM
Yeah I would buy them. I was running my truck today and it just died two or three times when I was running it. Is it too hot? too lean? It seems to run good though and it sounds right on so I dont know whats going on It did seem hot but not to lean. Also when you guys jump your maxxes how good are you at landing them? I found it quit hard because if you stay on the throttle you go over backward but If you let off it nose dives. I realize you have to work the throttle and gas but it sure is different when your moving four wheels in the air rather than 2 (like a pede). Let me know what you think about this.

Do you have a link to those rix towers? About how much do they weigh? Do you know what aluminum they are made of? How much does the weight affect it? What are you guys running? I am looking for my truck to be as durable and lightweight as possible for doing big air jumps and to race with.
Thanks for the help.:)
www.rixgear.com is the website, $40 for front and rear. I am thinking money is a factor in this so I would go for some GA 6061 bulks and bulk braces, Rix towers, Fantom FR15, RPM arms, and some steel or titanium pillow balls. The GA bulks you get from maxxtraxx and the rix towers from Rix Gear, same as above, (http://www.rixgear.com) and the rest of it you can get from Stormer Hobbies (http://www.stormerhobbies.com). This is what I hope to get my setup as. I already got the towers, I need to get the arms. I will stick to my 12 CV-RX cuz I will just do a Hybrid conversion for my T when I am gone with this. I would also get some titanium or steel hinge pins, mine are bent a little already. I think this would make your front end bullet proof! I don't think that much weight would be added, the Rix stuff is pretty light, I run the towers and the lower braces and my truck is still pretty light, and I have a lot of extra aluminum hanging off the sides! Here are my truck specs for now:
F/R aluminum bumpers
blue RPM stablemaxx clawz
Rix Gear f/r shock towers *NICE*
Rix Gear aluminum ladder braces *NICE8
O.S. 12 CV-RX
AE pipe
RRP steel spur
RRP aluminum brake disk

Aluminum rear skid

full center aluminum skid
new ring and pinion on their way
Ballistic 1600mAh Rx pack *VERY NICE*
Trinity aluminum gas tank lid
Soon to beRix reverse lock-out

cool.. slowly my maxx is becoming a full on supermaxx... lol. I ordered up the SuperMaxx bellcrank mounted servo saver yesterday and got my SuperMaxx ofna fuel tank conversion yesterday.. so now I should not have problems with the stock tank or have to look at the layers of silicone that are filling the cracks in the stock tank. Also I traded my old t-beyond chassis conversion and other parts for a HiTec 645. Its a lot better then the cirrus servo that I had in there before.
Really? I just got one of those!!!! How did you like yours? I think they are nice, and yes, the Hitecs are better, but I would just go with an Airtronics when I upgrade, I would just buy a used one or something. Why did you have to get a new fuel tank and is the Supermaxx servo saver kit better than the others? Is it compatible with a stock T?

Before you buy a .21 conversion, an engine, new gears, and driveshafts, port the engine and see if the power is enough for you. The TRX becomes a real powerhouse after being ported... it won the Pro-Line T-Maxx Modified class(Ony .15's) against O.S. engines!

RCBUM, it is an 80, I remember it. I would stick to small blocks for now Got Speed, I would go with the Fantom FR15, 1.25 HP and 42,000 RPM. The only real kit out there is the SuperMaxx with the 10mm tranny and the SM driveshafts, that is the only way to go, otherwise, you will be replacing parts left and right. I would stick to the small blocks and save up for the .21 stuff, or just do like I am and do a Hybrid!!!!

lol.. well I haven't checked my e-mail as of yet today I've been busy doing a rearend swap on my buddys mustang today. but I'm already using the Cirus 80 on my e-maxx and will eventually be on my smallblock t-maxx. The cirus 80 is a good servo and has lots of torque. Its slow though but for $25 brand new it really can't be beat. hobbypeople.net sells them..
GTX..
I went with the ofna tank supermaxx conversion because I'm just sick of the stock tank. they break around the standoffs really easily. Also with the ofna tank its a lot less crowded around the engine and its a shorter tank made of tougher material so it won't as crack if it takes a hit also it has baffles inside it to keep the fuel from sloshing around when acelerating or braking. I ordered up the SM steering because I can't stand the cave man servo saver that gives the maxx horrible centering.. just about every other RC out there has a bellcrank mounted servo saver except the maxx.. if there was one gripe I would have its that.. lol the SM servo saver will give much better centering and steering resopnse.. also.. I'm building a smallblock center section from the leftover parts I have. All I need is the steering and finally a tranny and then I'll unbolt the e-maxxes center section and use that suspension to finish the smallblock. A friend of mine wants to buy the e-maxx center. it will be complete with batts, two chargers, radio gear.. basically all it would need is suspension of which he's going to go with the widetrac, 6061 GA bulks, SM CVD's, and big bores ohh and I have the SM idler gears waiting to go into the e-maxx but the really cool part is he will be paying me to buy the parts and put it together for him. He also says he might possibly be going single brushless on it when he gets it.

well the best I can do is pics.. I don't have a video camera..
As far as servo savers.. I've used the Kimbrough (sp?) larger servo saver.. i has a little stronger spring in there than stock.. The GS racing larger servo saver is also really nice and has a strong spring in it. the SuperMaxx servo saver is $82 from the maxxtraxx mall but its a bellcrank mounted servo saver.
http://www.maxxtraxx.com/mall/items/unl_smss1.jpg
more info here (http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/servo_saver.shtml)
well that is a lot to spend on a servo saver, can you sum up what it does better than the stocker?
SixVi6
01-28-2002, 12:15 AM
The pic above is the SM servo saver.. it replaces the stock plastic steering bellcranks and stock steering posts with t-7075 Al pieces and bearings. I don't believe its too expensive at all. I think Robin should call it the SM Steering system instead.. saying servo saver gives people the worng idea about what it is. The SM bellcrank mounted saver makes the steering a lot better by giving it much better centering and strength. the plastic spring servo mounted savers are gear for smaller rc's but its just no good on the maxx imo. every little tiny bump turns the tires all over the place on a maxx because the servo mounted saver is just too weak and can't control the weight of the tires.
lol.. I've been hard at work.. (click me) (http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/sb_01.jpg) .. I took the entire e-maxx center out and droped the t-maxx chassis, astrocreep braces, HCR Ti center skid, Ported TRX, rear mounted pipe setup, fuel tank, throttle servo, and cirrus servo onto the e-maxx's suspension. all I really need are a few brake parts, a tranny, linkages, and other small parts and it will be ready to run. I'm going to put up a WTB add on MaxxTraxx for the tranny. I'll probably then pick up the SM 8mm tranny conversion cause I never use reverse.
Looks really nice man. I would stick a Fantom 15 in there, to make it haul, and compare it to your .21 maxx.

custom cut graphite shock towers and arm braces
remove bumpers and all exsess weight
o.s. .15 cvr w/ naitive raicng pullstart eliminator.

Does this sound like a good setup for hard bashing and some racing?
Hardcore .21 conversion
.21 Hyper
Center MIP CVDs
RRP Diff Sets
Integy Tranny Gears
Rix Towers
RPM arms
Integy skids
Megatech Braces
Bulks????
Integy steering knuckles
Skip on the bulks and integy stuff, I would get some stuff, check out their website, pretty cool stuff there. I would put in a SM or Rix lockout instead of gears. And get a RC Limited .21 kit, not a Hardcore kit, Hardcore isn't the best kit, I can make one better than they can!Powerline Racing (http://www.powerlineracing.com)

I am going to get the Rix reverse lockout and then get Integy 7075 gears to stand up to the power of a .21.
SixVi6
02-05-2002, 12:36 AM
Got Speed... I had some integy parts on my HPI EMT and Nitro RS4 a while back. they were good quality and fit and had no problems with them.
As far as the tranny instead of spending $60 on metal gears for the tranny then $20 on a rix lockout why not just get the supermaxx 8mm forward only conversion? Its $80 through the maxxtraxx mall and will save a lot of weight and still be just as tough as metal gears. also try looking at an HCR front skid. I broke a couple Al skids on my maxx but have not ever had a problem with my HCR Ti skids. I've crashed hard enough to snap bumper mounts, break RPM arms, and shatter stock bulkheads but the HCR skid stays intact and unbent. It shounds like a good setup though.
Got Speed
02-05-2002, 09:01 AM
Do you know how heavy the HCR skids are?
Is the SM tranny a whole tranny?
RC Limited kits extend the braces and the Hardcore kit extends the skid and the HCR kit is really thin and quite expensive, titanium isn't THAT good........
SixVi6
02-05-2002, 09:58 PM
I don't know the exact weight of the HCR skids but I do no that they weigh no more than aluminum skids. They are pricey though but when my maxx was stock I bought a front Aluminum Dynamite skid. I bent the crap out of and eventually broke two of them in a couple months then picked up the HCR front skid.. a year and a half later I still have the HCR front one and have never had to bend it back into shape.
The problem with the HCR kit is that Titanium, although it has a higher tentsile strength than the standard t-6061 aluminum t-maxx chassis, still flexes just as much as an aluminum piece of the same design. the HCR chassis flexes about as much as a stock chassis. I had an HCR .21 chassis and indeed I could flex it with my bare hands just like a stock chassis. I've seen a lot worse though as far as chassis flex and I don't think its all that bad. The biggest problen I had when I was running mine was stripping out stock spur gears because the chassis would flex to the point where the gears would skip a tooth and just mangle the spur. an RRP steel spur fixed that problem though.
The RC limited kit doesn't extend the braces.. it extends the chassis and rear skid. in fact an HCR rear .21 skid will bolt right on to an RC limited kit. I believe the only kit that extends the braces is the RC alloys kit.
The Sm 8mm kit is just the insides of the tranny. it replaces the output shaft and gears and the 2 speed shaft and primary gear and it all fits into the stock tranny case. Its a heck of a lot lighter than stock and because the gears use a smaller pitch they are more effecient. I have the original 10mm kit that requires a slightly modified case and I'm probably going to pick up the 8mm kit for the smallblock. I was repairing my neighbors t-maxx over the weekend and I had actually forgoten how the the whole click.. click... jerk.. and go thing the stock tranny does makes me nuts!

When you get that 8mm conversion(SM) do you still keep the two speed?? Thanks! What have you done to your front/rear diff gears on your Maxx?
Im getting a used hoped up maxx with a .15 O.S Hyper--great shape, and want to do some slight mods on it. eventually it will become a small-block Supermaxx with a .15CV-R!
SixVi6
02-06-2002, 09:25 PM
yup it keeps the 2 speed. its replaces the stock gears and shafts with pressed on gears and thick hardened shafts. It also completely eliminates the reverse parts.
More info on the Forward only here.. (http://www.monstermaxx.com/fwd_only.shtml)
actually originally I decided to put RRP gears into the rear because I figured the RRP would be tougher but because they have such sharp cut gears and are hardened they actually strip easier. 1 week after I put them in they were stripped. The plastic case allows the gears loose mesh and skip a tooth. It does the same thing with the stock gears but they are much smoother which allows a tooth to skip and not get caught and strip. At the moment I'm still running the original front diffs and all and the rear has a new set of stock gears that I dropped in after the RRP ones stripped.

in my opinion i think that the rrp gears are a waste of money.
if you run an aluminum diff case and kippsters cups you should be fine.
i have run the rrps for a few hard runs, no rpoblems yet
i think i could have been better off with the trx ones.

if you still want reverse alum gears are the way to go. I have no experience with aluminum tranny gears so I can't tell ya for sure what to get. http://home.attbi.com/~exsells/sb_02.jpg
This is the layout although its not all bolted in and tightned up yet. I love the rear mounted pipe and don't have any linkage wire long enough to mount the servo it in the stock position so its going where it is in this pic. The steering servo is mounted closer in to the center of the truck by drilling a couple new holes to mount it. I also only had 6 stock shocks, 2 stock springs and 4 RC ravens springs so I used some stock shock parts and some ancient Trinity shocks and made two more shocks but still need to find two more stock springs. I still need a few tranny parts (which are on the way), a 20t clutch bell, spur, an RX cover of some kind and a few screws and it will be ready to rock. I have an RRP steel spur but its just sooo heavy and I'll only use it if chassis flex is causing spur gear stripping problems. also I'll probably be cutting off every other tread off the tires in the pic to lighten the truck more. ohh.. ohh... I can't wait.

What type of grease do you use to pack the front/rear diff cups with? and do you fill them up pretty full?
what does everyone run for a servo on there "T"
Do you use the standard Maxx reciever batt pack or the trinity receiver pack? I think the XXX-NT or their standard rcvr pack will work???

The big news is the addition of the Free MT! yes I got it free.My buddy was sick of it always breaking and he likes the TC's better anyways.. so he gave it to me complete and ready to run. I did though make some layout modfications and custom work and the truck now has a lot of maxx parts on it. lol.. the previous owner could not believe how it looked and said it seems like I'm slowly changing it into a maxx..

email me dude, or do you have Yahoo or AIM? My s/n for Yahoo is gstarwin, so anyone can IM about it. I am sure SixVi6 knows also. I can maybe get you some pics if you email me. MP/Maxx hybrid pic 2 (http://www.projecttwin.com/images/hybrid2.jpg)
Just as GTX said.. its taking the t-maxx suspension and droping it onto an MP chasis. from what I understand it only requires a few extra holes in the MP chasis and a bit of clearancing to ensure full suspension travel but thats all I know of MP/Maxx hybrid's.

extremetmaxxer-thanks for the advice. What about the baffles how do I get them out?
MaxxThrasher
02-21-2002, 04:19 PM
R/Cbum4life,
The stock TRX pipe has a long bolt that runs down inside of the pipe and a nut on the end where you mount it to the chassis. Use a screw driver and enter at the end of the pipe that mounts to your header. Unscrew the bolt and the pipe will come apart in 2 peices. Inside is the baffle, cone shaped plastic part with 4 hole in it. Toss it! Put the pipe back together and mount it back up to your engine and chassis. Done!
As far as a pipe, the 1st thing i would do if you haven't already is to buy a Big Tube Header. This will singlely make the most noticable difference in power and torque on the stock TRX engine.
Next would be to buy a tuned pipe, i use a dynamite pipe.

MaxxThrasher
02-22-2002, 08:37 AM
Believe me, its well worth the money. If you take the baffle out of your stock pipe and buy this header, you will be very happy with the results. You'll be good for a while. A pipe costs anywhere from the same to a whole lot more and you won't get a big noticable difference.

Maxxthraser-How possible is it that there isnt a baffler in there? Where is the thing? I thought it was about in the middle of the pipe I didn't see one but I could not get the pipe to come apart. Does it split into two (front and back) there looks like there is a joint but it didnt come apart. What is the little set screw for in the side of the pipe and why is there another hole across from that? (on the two sides)I'm confused please help:confused:
MaxxThrasher
02-22-2002, 07:19 PM
We are talking about the stock TRX Pro .15 plastic pipe aren't we? To get the pipe apart, unscrew the nut at the end of the pipe that holds the mounting arm to the chassis. Then unscrew the long screw that runs the length of the pipe and take it completely out. The pipe should then come apart in half. There should be a cone shaped peice of plastic with one hole in the middle and 4 holes just outside of middle. Looks kinda like a strainer. You won't see the baffle if you don't take the pipe apart. Once you get this far, you will then know what to do.
Hope this helps.

R/Cbum4life
02-22-2002, 10:44 PM
Yeah you bet were talking about the stock pipe. I couldn't get it to come apart in halfs. Whats the deal? Maybe the found a way to keep them togather so people don't do it and void the warranty or something but who knows? I thought I would have been able to see the holes in the bafflar but I didn't see them. How big are these holes? And how can I get it apart.
MaxxThrasher
02-23-2002, 09:20 AM
Unless Traxxas has totally changed the design of the T-Maxx pipe, your pipe will come apart like this....
Once again,
At the end of the pipe opposite of the header, there is a nut. Take this nut off. Behind the nut is the mounting arm that mounts the loose end of the pipe to your chassis. Take the arm off. At the other end of the pipe, the end that mounts to your header, is where you want to look for the screw head, down inside the pipe. Take a philips head screw driver and loosen this bolt. Take the bolt completely out of the pipe. Grab both ends of the pipe, twist and pull the pipe apart. The pipe should come apart in half. Once you have taken the pipe apart, you will see the baffle. Take the baffle out and reassemble the pipe.
Other suggestion, Take the pipe to your LHS and have them help you, Or just buy a tuned pipe.

It may just need a good cleaning. I would start there 1st. Disassemble the brake disc and piston. Clean the piston and area. The disc could be glazed up and need to be sanded lightly to knock the glazing off. Reassemble everything and readjust your linkages.

Proline Maxx Masher tires
RRP 72t steel spur

You should be able to get it from www.hobbypeople.com. I think their parts are 6061 cast aluminum. But it is a pretty thick chassis. 4mm I think. I hope they sell just the CVDs. I want to try them.
GTX-The Hyper .21 is real nice. You can get them at www.greathobbies.com for $110 or so. The directions that came with mine claimed 2.1HP and 36K RPM.
I ended up buying that chassis I gave a link to a few pages back and it is pretty nice especially being 1/4" thick! I had to move the servo beside the fuel tank, flip the carb, drill differet engine mount slots, and make my own linkages but I finally did it and it works really well.

Yes,although you will probably have to shorten the shaft just a bit. The engine should bolt to the stock mount.

Yup, to install the OS you will have to cut the cramk some. It is a long shaft crank and the T requires a short shaft. Its not hard to do if you have a Dremel and a cutoff wheel.

I am looking to upgrade my tranny and diffs. What should I get first that isn't too expensive?
Rix gear lockout and make sure your diffs are shimmed correctly!
Oh, and I bought the MP with the RG for $75! I sold my T also :(, but wait, it gets better! It sold for $250 no wheels, tires, engine, or body! And, I am building my Hybrid from scratch, starting with a SM Widetrack suspension stage 3 kit! Woo hoo! I traded my 12 CV-RX for a TTR .21 and that will be my engine of choice. The only thing I need to get for the rest of it are nick-nack parts on ebay. After that, I will get some better shocks, aluminum bulks, aluminum knuckles and Ti pillowballs, and SM EXT driveshafts. This is gonna be awesome!

I love my maxx but I hate not having a temp gauge. I am always freaked out about overheating it.
The RIX reverse lockout is all I need for the tranny? Is it the same thing as the SM 8mm reverse lockout?
Should the compression in my engine drop when I break in the engine?
The Rix lockout is the 2nd best lockout there is. The next up is the SM one, but they aren't the same.

What are the differences?
SixVi6
04-08-2002, 12:49 PM
Rix is just a lockout. It eliminates the reverse gears and keeps all the forward gears stock. I ran a rix lockout when I first decided to go forward only. I still mangled the forward primary gear in a month with an OS .15cvx. Then replaced it with an alum RRP forward primary gear and destroyed the output gear.. then the Supermaxx tranny came out so I jumped on it and have only opened the tranny up once in at least a year and a half and over 12 gals to replace the one way bearing because the .21 was causing it to slip.
Rix just uses sleves to eleminate the rev output gear and clutch, rev idler gear, and rev primary gear. so its just a stock tranny with no reverse.
The supermaxx conversion replaces the output and primary shafts with much stronger pieces with pressed on and pinned wide face gears to replace the thin weak stock gears. the Supermaxx makes it a bullet proof setup and makes it something to assemble and go, not having to worry about the tranny at all.
yes when an engine is brand new it has lots of compression. as you break it in intitialy it will loose compression pretty quick then level out.
Got Speed
04-08-2002, 03:20 PM
It will lose compression but should it lose enough to really notice?
I ask because I don't remeber my other engines losing enough compression to easily notice.
The rix lockout just removes the clutches and reverse gears?
The supermaxx replaces everything and removes the reverse and clutches?
Supermaxx makes the 8mm and 10mm. What is 8mm and 10mm?

I have the Native racing setup on my .21 T-Maxx,thing works great. OK.. Let me try this again. I have not been able to post just on this forum for some reason.
Got Speed... The Rix Lockout just uses little sleves to eleminate the reverse gears. The Rix setup really doesn't make anything stronger. it does eleminate the Rev servo and a couple gears but its still really nothing more than a stock tranny with no reverse.
The Supermaxx forward only replaces all the stock gears and shafts, except for the 2 speed stuff. 8mm and 10mm are the size of the gears the kit uses. the 10mm kit has a modified tranny case included and the 8mm uses the stock tranny case. I'd say if you get a SM tranny get the 8mm and save money.
winning edge designs... I had MIP center drives.. the rear drive cup broke when I went .21. after that I went back to the reinforced stockers then ended up buying a supermaxx chassis with the matching center drives and not a single problem since. so far I've just been using reinforced stock slider axles on my .21 maxx. they eventually loosen up and break at the u-joint. most likley I'll be picking up some SuperMaxx CVD's soon.

On Springs... well I run RC Raven Dual Rate Springs. They are great and you can get them in your choice of colors. I run one Raven spring and one stock spring per corner. It will make the truck a lot less tipsy and handle a ton better but still have good suspension travel.
That heat sink head looks good. Now I'm not sure which to get for my smallblock maxx.. that head or the HCR head. And Unlimited Engineering is comming out with new bulks, suspension, chassis, and god knows what else.. the chasis is for racing but the rest is something I think I must have! Darn it all these decisions. I'm glad I still have not spent my tax return money Cause I'll be spending it now!! I don't like the chassis much it would be great for racing though. I want the rest of the setup. Ohh and the bulks accept 1/8 scale diffs so no more silly broken stock diffs to mess with. I knew if I held on and continued running the stock suspension and bulks with the EXT chassis something better whould come along from Unlimited Eng.

the autohaus head has considerably more surface area than the stock and the hardcore heads do, more surface area equals more cooling!
plus if you flip and scratch up the top of the head you can just replace the top plate for like 10 bucks

however from what i saw of the small block heads, the msj / autohaus would still be superior, the mini fridge heads pack alot more fins into the same amount of space, im not saying the browards are not great looking but they say 20 degrees cooler, and the msj autohaus heads have been tested in the humid heat of florida and have been temped at 50 degrees lower!!

yeah I know its a hybrid and I just don't them. I know they are great for racing but one reason I bought a t-maxx because it was gas powered and had the look of a lifted street truck. the MP just looks silly imo with the totally exposed chassis and body thats mounted way up on stilts but its just my opinion. So UE can keep the hybrid chassis.. I do want the bulks and new suspension. the fact that they use 1/8 scale diffs makes me drool. So far the only word on the new UE stuff is nothing but a pic and a bit of a breif description from people that saw it at texas thunder. from what I've read the new Racer X setup as you see it in that pic weighs under 8lbs  no word on prices yet but I'm assuming like all other unlimited engineering products it won't be all that bad for all that you get.
lol.. FYI.. A local driver won texas thunder with a highly modified MP. how funny is that!
***?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?? Man, now I KNOW I shoulda been there!!! I woulda won, :p. I bet your Supermaxx would spank him though, as would that Hybrid, why the hell did it win? That must be one helluva driver then! So why did they have a Hybrid there? I had just talked to MonsterMaxx the other day after it about the Hybrid and I hadn't even seen that pic yet! So you don't like the Hybrids huh? Well I do, I don't care for the MP suspension, it really does suck. I like the T, just don't have the $$$ to spend on all the SM stuff, LOL!!! Well, I like the suspension I have now, it's great! I don't think that was the real new chassis, is it? If it is, I may get one of those or something. You can mod stock bulks to fit 1/8 buggy diffs, that is what I am gonna do. You can mod aluminum bulks too you know.
So will my bulks break really easy now that I have SM arms?

Pitstain, thats cool, those heads are very good. I do worry though about "more cooling". Since allens heads are also from and tested in Florida(Broward county is an hour north of miami,3 hrs south of orlando),and they are close to being Too efficient. That is,they take a bit longer to level off temperature wise. Even though my engines run cooler, with the nitro specialties heads, they also need a few more minutes to level off. I'm also Running rocket Science fuels, based out of Texas and that fuel helps with temperature as well.......before I know it my engines will be -20 celcius,if I keep finding things that make my stuff run cooler,LOL!
The color change tops are a sweet idea though!..hhmmmmmm.......:),Jim

from what I heard he was local and had lot of experience on that track with his MP. thats why he won.
the new chassis from what I understand, it just that all new but its made for racing hence the low center of gravity and 1/8 scale buggy based driveline. It may look like an MP but an MP is also 1/8 scale buggy based.
I agree with you the stock MP suspension sucks big time as a monster. I bash with a guy from my work often and his MP just can't hang on the rough stuff like a maxx can. he is doing a hybrid right now from some parts that I found for him from Maxxtraxx. A hybrid is cool and makes the MP a great all around performer but it still has the converted buggy truck body on stilts look that I just can't get past. funny part is he is always mkaing comments on the money I've spent on my maxx but his MP, when its all done with the hybrid conversion, will end up with just as much money into it as I put into my .21 maxx but at least I have 2 maxxes to show from my all my money spent. he has a monster pirate and a half. lol.. at least he'll be able to sell the alum arms and junk that he used to run on his mp.
1/8 scale diffs can be done on a maxx but its not as eazy as it sounds to do and make it work well. also yeah your bulks will break easier now that you have aluminum arms. take a hit to the arms now and the only place that will give is at the bulks.

Hey man, I don't bring my T into the hobby shop, so they look at me and think they can win. I think they assume my maxx is stock and slow or something! I think I want to challenge a rally car or somethin like that. Haha, I would like to smash into a Gigaforce WOT, see what I can break-on the GigaForce, LOL!!! Hey, I looked on the UE site and the steel pivot balls are 25% strontger than the Ti pivot balls! I am gonna get the steel ones, so that is a major plus. What skids should I get? Bulks I am gonna go with the GA 6061's with braces, maybe save up a little more and go for the 7075's, not likely though. I assembled the front end of my SM suspension, VEERRRY WIDE! Skids..
HCR skids are the toughest. I run them on both my maxxes. I've broken Aluminum skids from a few manufactures but since I've put the HCR's on my t-maxx I've not had a problem in a year and a half. The only problem I've heard is if you race your maxx the HCR skid the cutout at the front for hing pin access will dig into the dirt on a bad landing and scrub off a lot of speed. New Era makes a Ti skid that does not have the cutouts for hing pin access that will not do this. I just ended up doing a bit of grinding on my HCR skids to eleminate hte sharp edge fo it won't hang up or dig into the dirs as much.
Cool. I am gonna order the parts I need very soon, after I get my new PC going. I am also gonna try to start making the new extended chassis for it. I am gonna go for the GA bulks and some cheap aluminum skids for now, then upgrade to the Ti skids. SixVi6, when are you gonna get some nice bulks and some SM suspension?

GTX, yea some good GA bulks! thats what I need as well. GA is all out of them now, so we may have to wait a bit to get them. Ill probably get the 6061 Bulks instead of the pricier ones, they should hold up very good.
GTX--you might as well save the extra cash and buy the TI skids now! Why buy twice??? You will save money in the long run! Buy what you want now so you dont do it twice.. If it means an extra month of savings to do it--you will be happier as well! Later

I raced my friends HPI RS4 RTR3 against my .21 t-maxx yesterday in a straight line drag race.. guess who won? lol! yes the t-maxx laid waste to the poor HPI. It was close for about 20 feet then the big maxx just pulled away and didn't look back. I put the fear of .21 in him. lol.. I even offered to race him again but this time the maxx would be in the grass but he wouldn't do it! lol :)
I also then raced him with his old RS4 2 that I bought 2 weeks ago and just sold today. I cleaned it all up and ported the engine. His old mostly stock, except for a header, pipe, and fibre brake, Nitro RS4 RTR2 beat his brand new 5 tanks through it RTR3! lol.. he sold the Nitro rs4 2 to me because it was slow and did not run right. it seemed plenty quick to me and him too! It just goes to show ya. Its not always what kind of car you buy. its how you maintain and drive it especially when it comes to Nitro.
other news.. I sold my HPI Nitro MT, and the short lived 2 weeks with a Nitro RS4 is over because I just got the cash in hand for that. All that is left is to sell the E chassis, Astrocreep braces, HCR center Skid, E tranny, 2 evx's, 4 titans, batts and chargers from what used to be my e-maxx (Anybody here want this stuff b4 I sell them on MaxxTraxx?) because I just ordered up a Kyosho Landmax 2! I'm using the money from the e-chasis and stuff to fund the electronics for it. Probably going with a JR XR2 and whatever good servos I can get from my LHS this weekend. I wouldn't get the stinger. It give you much more performance, over the stock pipe. I prefer the CVEC. Aluminum shocks, stiffer springs, and heavier oil are some main things to get. When you increase the weight of your oil though you will proabbly lose a some shock caps, that's why I mentioned aluminum shocks.

If you are planning on racing it or just want much better handleing get the proline suspension kit for $69.00, it comes with bulkheads and arms PLUS titanium turnbuckles!! The Maxx will handle like a dream. The kit is VERY tough, I have hit a ton and its still in one piece.
Another nice thing to get is a trinity nitro battery pack to run the servos! I have the pack for the XXX-NT and it fits in the traxxas batt. case. You will get a full 6V of power that will last a long time!:D
One more thing you will here several things about differant pipes! Lots of people like the A.E pipe, I have the stinger pipe and it runs excellant, great power everywhere plus I like the fact it blows all the oil and crap out back instead of under the chassis.
There are sooo many things you can do to the maxx! ENJOY:D

(by the wat as for my previous post I race a RC-10 GT too... Looking for some compitition near denver - Thanks in advance for any suggestions:D
Hmmm, sounds like a hop-up frenzy! For the ultimate suspension, go with Unlimited Engineering (http://www,unlimitedengineering.com) and some GA bulkheadsGA (http://www.maxxtraxx.com/mall/greatassembly.shtml) and for shocks, you can get some AE (http://www.rc10.com) or Traxxas (http://www.t-maxx.com) and for the pipe, go with again and get the RC10GT pipe, it really works well, I have used it.AE (http://www.rc10.com). There are tons of hop-ps, and we know what is great and what is a bunch of crap, so we generally ask each other. The Unlimited Engineering is the best of the best, that is what a few of us have (me, SixVi6, others) and we love their products. If you don't have the cash to spend, RPM (http://www.rpmrcproducts.com) makes unbeatable arms, braces, and towers. Hope this helps!

I have a T-Maxx with a .15 O.S. 1.2 H.P. with a Stinger pipe, all I can offer is my opinion I felt that the stinger gave me more horsepower than the standard pipe and alot more throttle response and of course LOUDER:p :p but you are left with flooding and annoying flame outs until properly tuned the stinger seems to hold alot of back pressure. and one more bonus the pipe turns out the rear of the truck so less fuel and oil all over the truck. Good Luck.

Bullet 87.. get first things are:
1st A fuel filter.. with no filtration on the fuel line it would be all too easy for dirt to get into the carb and clog it or worse get dirt inbetween the piston and sleve and reuin a perfectly good engine.
2nd a really good air filter such as the motor saver or any of the 2 stage filters. the stock filter would be ok for on road conditions but if you start getting the maxx good and dirty the stock filter can easily let some pretty nasty stuff into the engine. just like the fuel filter its a must get thing for the life of the engine.
3rd I find another good hop up are bearings in the steering. Check here for detials (http://www.maxxtraxx.com/tech/tech017.shtml) it really does help the steering servo do its job and it needs all the help it can get.
4th RC Ravens Dual rate springs.. run one Ravens dual rate and one stocker pwer corner this help tremendously in the handling department and can be had in several different colors. More info here from Rc Raven (http://rcraveninc.goemerchant7.com/index.cgi?PageToView=catalog&Department=62227)
there are a lot more but these are the ones that I liked the best that I did initially. There are a lot more good articles on things to do toy your maxx Here at Maxxtraxx (http://www.maxxtraxx.com/tech/) and REviews of lots of MAxx hop ups great and small Here (http://www.maxxtraxx.com/reviews/). I hope this gets you started. There just insane amounts of great hop ups for maxxes. They just beg you to try them all. lol..
... The Stinger pipe.. I had one and got rid of it, here is why. The placement of the pipe is poor. if you get the truck on 2 wheels on the dirt it can clog the pipe. I had it happen a few times but the real problem is that I ended up cracking the pipe because when the truck pulls the wheels the pipe was the first thing to hit. on the dirt os one thing but nail that stinger wiht a rock or on ashfault and it will crack. Overall it was a powerfull setup and was loud. I perfer the CVEC rear exhaust or a flipped stock header with a rustler coupler and either a CVEC or stock AE GT pipe on my .15 maxx.
FodderMech.. that is cool idea for the maxx.. a woodie! now get a couple of surf boards! What kinda .21 conversion are you ruinning? I can't help ay with the denver area. I live in the chicago burbs.

they sound like good hop ups but about the new pipe i wanna get. I want a stinger or CVEC but it sounds like more people prefer the CVEC so i might want to get that but what one ? Therre are a coupl of them and can i just get one as a kit for the t-maxx?
Hey SixVi6, those Jumbo Maxxes fir on stock wheels right????
SixVi6
05-02-2002, 06:11 PM
Nope The Jumbos are for MP sized wheels. Jumbos are way too wide. They will fit on the Jumbomaxx wheels or SM monster wheels.
GTX .. I got the paypal man. The paddles are all mounted on the beadlocks and boxed up. I'll ship the beadlocks and paddles tomorow.

Who saw the article on porting the t-maxx engine? Any of you done this? The statistics show that it will cover twice the ground in the first 5 secs or something is that really true? Wheelies from a dead stop? Sounds to good to be true. What about fuel mileage, Am I ging to be buying fuel every week (wait i think I do that anyways...LOL) Let Me know what you all think of this. If I screw up can I buy just a new sleeve or will I need to buly the piston too? I hope you can understand all these questions. Thanks for the help.

I am going thru rear turnbuckle ends and turnbuckles like crazy. I am running proline offset rims with bow ties. Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone know why?
Got Speed

Because there is less turnbuckle in the ball cups. So it strips alot easyier. I had the same problem when adding alot of toe-in.

How many bones are HCR skids? Im looking at getting some, you all say they are indestructable so i figure they are the best. What about the racers edge skids? I see those are about $30. You all were also talking about unlimited engineering having good parts...what about their skids are they as strong as HCR's? Thanks

Can anyone help me out. I just got my NEW T-maxx and was breaking it in when on the second tank it wouldn't start up. The glow plug was shot so i replaced it. It ran fine then when i went to start up the fourth tank the plug was dead again. I'm running around 300 degrees. PLEASE HELP???

300! That's why youre burning up glow plugs. It's a good thing they went out because if they didn't youre engine would be toast(might already be). When you get another plug run the engine around 220.

You need to pay attention to the type of material they are made out of. The HCR skids are titanium, thats why they are virtually indistructable and expensive. If you can find someone else that sells titanium skids for less, i'd go that route.

There is a 15% disc tacked to the listed price at HSNJ.. click on buy now and a popup will show the actual price after the discount. They have great prices there and good service. in fact the last time I ordered from there they also sent a Megatech deck of cards. pretty cool.
