my electric rustler will be running against rc10gts and other nitro stadium trucks and i need it to be as fast and run like them. i already have a 15t but have a 10t and lrp competition esc for the new season. i dont know if that will do it. im also going to get a couple 3000 packs. anybody have some experience in this field? thanks

Gear it right. Then get a BL system. And outdrive them.

heh, I'm a student, and payed for dual BL's by myself....
$230 isn't that much compaired to all the money you'll be putting into a brushed, trying to beat nitros...

i bought an 8t esc and mated it to a 10/2 trinity caliber, one would think calibers are great for price but id say my motor performs similar to a 14/2 hand wound modified.

How long are your mains? I just saw a guy this weekend still running the stock pre-painted body and stock stinger motor get 4th in a 15 minute main against some really hot drivers. He only pitted once, which I am sure made big difference, plus he never flipped because, well quite frankly he wasn't fast enough. Time after time I saw a Losi fly by, hit the next jump too hot, flip and lay on his lid while the electric drove right on past. It was then another couple laps before they could catch back up and it was happening all over again. I thought it was too funny. So, my point is, faster might not be better. You do have a few advantages. My bet is if your track is small enough that you have to run with the gas, keeping it on all 4 might win you the race.

If your worried about speed just get a higher tooth pinion gear like a 22tooth it would increase you speed for about $3.00 See I know how to save money. lol :D

this track is a brand new track being build by some nitro fanatics. he told me if theres enough electrics (i doubt there will be), they ("we" actually) can have our own class. so now im preparing to race them. im sure they wont mind an electric guy racin with em...
DubDucedDurango: youre saying make it for top speed more?

Hmmm....cheap speed...
You have a few options....use your 10 turn and the 3000's
-or-
You could get an even lower turn motor.
What ever you do, DON'T gear it with a 22 pinion for a 10 turn. Your motor will not spool up properly. This will make your car slower actually. Trust me. O another tip, use a 7-cell battery instead of a 6. ;) happy racing.

How long are these Nitro races normally?

My bad I thought you were running the 15t thats why I said 22tooth. With a 10t I'd stay around the 18 - 20tooth pinion.

i got this message from the guy thats starting the track today about the mains and so forth:
"This week is probably out for track work due to rain every day. I think we are going to race on Saturdays and the points series will be pretty much every week but if we do a six week series we will throw out the two lowest scores for each driver so you don't have to make them all to be in the hunt. Mains will be at least 20 minutes for gas A mains, and probably 15 for B and 10 for C. Electric mains will be 5 minutes. We may throw all the novices together in one class if we don't have enough to do a gas and electric novice class. I'm guessing it will be all gas trucks and electric trucks. If there is a steady electric class I think it will be stock truck."
did you read that??? elec mains 5 min! what the crap! we run a different power source, we arent retarded. i hate being put aside. if not, ill be shoved into a "novice" class with gas and elec. i just want a challenge and have about 10 people in the race, doesnt sound that way though. also, i dont like the stock truck elec class idea. oh well. complaining to you guys wont do me no good.

"Electric mains are always 5 minutes. They use to be 4 minutes. I don't know
how many will show up for each class and it will be different each week.
Rules are pretty simple. Stock classes must run a ROAR legal 24 degree stock
motor. Mod can run any motor. All electrics run 6 cells. You can make pretty
much any mods to your vehicle and still race it in the class it was intended
for. Rustlers would race in stock or modified truck depending on motor.
Nitro Rustlers would race in 1/10 gas truck."
he wrote me back on the "rules". apparently they are 5 minutes and i was complaining for nothing.
dont know which class would be better though... mod or stock
