As above: Anyone know when Associated is releasing the Monster GT and is anyone accepting preorders for it?

Thanks

Is that truck going to be anything special or just another 1/8 buggy? What motors going to be in it?

I read an article a few months back. Cliff Lett of AE said they will work with the Thunder Tiger .21 Pro B-R. I have that engine in my T-Maxx. It isn't as powerful as the race bred .21s out there but it does pretty well. The Monster GT is slated to weigh in at 12 lb. Still, the TTR motor will move it pretty well. Tank after tank, that engine just keeps chugging - I am very impressed considering the price.

Sounds like it might be like the Savage in that respect. Good chassis, somewhat unique, but with an acceptable (but not exciting) engine. As long as they get rid of those fake plastic shock oil reserviors I'll be happy!

Well, maybe it's a trade-off: Give up some speed for power and reliability. Blasting to 30mph is better then slowly winding up to 40mph, especially if the faster engine is finicky to tune and less reliable.

I agree with that! That 30-40 range isn't used that often in bashing and jumping, unless you've got a single jump in the middle of a field.

I was sort of comparing the MGT and Savage to the Maxx, however, which does have great acceleration as well as an impressive top speed.

Not to be negative about the MGT...but, my prediction is this. The MGT will not be anything that will destroy it's competitors like some people think. The bottom line is that it's just another .21. So, depending on the gearing and what engine Associated decides to go with, it may be a LITTLE more powerful then a Savage, but let's be real...it's just another .21 MT...old news. I think that the biggest mistake that Associated has made was just putting in a .21. I mean the Hot Bodies Dirt Demon will come standard with a .26, roto-start system, etc. I think that Associated should've done something major to set this truck apart from the other guys, but they didn't. Because it's an Associated product I'm sure that it will be very well designed, but it won't be an HPI and Traxxas killer. I doubt it will be faster then the T-Maxx and it may not even handle as well as the Savage. Only time will tell....

It just looks a big ass tmaxx to me. Doesn't look special. I just wish they would get it out soon so I could see it up close.
