My traxxas T-max trans stop working. the spur gear spins and turns the shaft no problem. But the truck goes nowhere. I took the whole trans apart, and found nothing out of the ordinary. It looks like the dogs on the forward and reverse gears are not locking on to the pins in the gear selector. If I take it all apart and spin them by hand they work fine. when they are together in the trans they wont work. I have worked on this all day and am stumped. I cant find anything broken or worn. the truck only has about 6 of tanks run through it. Any help????

The TMaxx has a slipper clutch that may be have Nitro or Oil on it if it turns the Spur gear and does not move next thing to look at is the Slipper Clutch. See if it is tight if tight see it if it worn out or has oil on it.

Hope this helps :D

The problem is internal, not the slipper clutch. I attached my revers drill to the input shaft and nothing happens. I had the whole thing apart and understand how it works, but dont know why it wont work. For some reason the gears with the little metal flippers wont engage the main drive barrel. Make sense?

turn on ur radio and move the reverse switch back and forth...it may be stuck in between the reverse and forward gears inside the tranny...also make sure its connected and that the spring and servo is set correctly...that should solve the problem

Maybe engine Placement? Does the clutch engage the spur gear? I am guessing at this point. Is your main drive shaft in good shape?

I have also been caught between forward and reverse.

Trans is out of vehicle and bench tested. It is an internal problem i think. Was hoping somebody else had run into this and had an easy solution. The trans will not work in forward or reverse.

make sure u have that little spacer that is next to the forward driving gear...that holds the gear in place...also make sure that the shifting fork is on the right part of the drive dog, dead smack in the middle or it will just flop around and not even move the dog to the gears...

Have you tested the tranny in the truck? I dont think drills spin at a high enough rpm to engage the clutches in the transmission. Drills only sipn 1 maby 2 thousand rmp when a nitro engine idles at 1 thousand.

I am possably wrong but I would try it in your truck.

nitro motors idle at 2500 rpm so the tranny engages higher than that.
